From what I've done with the new update (literally everything but Natlan), I like it. The one main nitpick I have is something you also talk about which is the new Natlan trials. While they do a good job of showing off the movement abilities of the Natlan characters (the reason for the particles) it doesn't do a great job of showcasing their combat abilities. I think it would be better if the first half was dedicated strictly to movement that takes us to a second half that is similar to the past trials.
I am in LOVE with Natlan. The story? 10/10. Exploration? 10/10. Characters? I LOVE THEMMMMMMMMM AAAAH I think I liked Fontaine a little bit more, but still- I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised as my expectations were low.
