It's human nature to respond negatively to certain changes after years of having familiar and seeing the same......at least have the positivity of letting the new passenger-only service 'Bed Down' and you may be surprised how good it will be. A Car Ferry service between Gourock and Dunoon won't happen for six years under the contract issues , so the people will have plenty of time to have their say.

I simply cannot understand how anyone can see this change as a bad one. The motorists now have to drive an extra mile out of town to get to western to a ferry which lands about a mile further downriver. A mile in a car equates to an immeasurable amount of fuel use and two minute's extra driving at 30mph. But for people on foot it's much better than the once-hourly service which before ended before 9pm!

@SPTSuperSprinter156 Simple: 'Vouchers' do not cover train tickets. The ticket office is no longer open. Tickets are only available on board. You can't buy them until the ferry is actually moving. The ali-cat is poor in anything other than smooth as silk water.
I am not against change. I'm against removing things under the pretence of additions
I'll concede that the Flyer is OK, but it is nothing special. The ramps are still unsafe. So I dunno. Maybe things have improved since last Saturday ;)

@dv8tion242 for people like me who live in Dunoon and don't drive, before this new service was introduced I could never stay in Glasgow past 7 o'clock unless I had somewhere to stay. Frankly, it sucked! Now with this new service people can stay later and don't have to wait an hour for another ferry when the train rolls into the terminal as the ferry is just leaving. Seriously, look at it from both sides. Western get more business and the foot passengers get more regular ferries.

The 'new' ferry that had to go back in at least once or twice for serious issues?
The Ali Cat sounds like it's about to rattle to pieces. The Flyer at least sounds like you might make it safely across the Clyde.
Having to walk down car ramps sucks. Dragging luggage along poor ramps which give a distinct feeling of waking the plank, is a big pile of fail
My understanding is that Oban residents banded together, and got a pair of shiny new ferries. Dunoon-Gourock got the ones no one wanted.
