Zurg being Buzz's dad is honestly a really heartbreaking thing considering how caring he seems to be around Buzz I do think it's a great way to also tell us that what's done is done and we just need to keep moving forward, even if there are moments in time that we don't appreciate It may be a sad ending but it's better than Zurg being Buzz
emperor Zurg being his father would be too old and a copy of Star Wars if there had not been a backstory like this, at least to be different from the powerful enemy sovereign and the good soldier. Even mixing it with the old Buzz from the alternative future could be compatible: Larry dies while Buzz is doing his space travels, he sees old Buzz and thinks Larry too has done the experiment meanwhile, the old Buzz reveals himself, the mystery about who created the robots in 1st place is still here. The Zurg robots could finally either become a scattered enemy arm or become allies, whatever was this "going beyond the infinity" that surprised Buzz so much The matter of finding his father would be a good subplot too, parallel to being stuck on T'Kana Prime and experimenting with he crystal
Interesting theme of time. I love Izzy’s line: “Just like a Time Pilot. Always running to the future to be a hero. Rangers are ready to be heroes today.” This gives greater meaning to Buzz’s decision to become a space ranger in the end and shows the influence his relationship with Izzy has on his character. What were they thinking cutting all this?
You know if i ever gonna work on pixar movies i am gonna use the scraped half baked first draft and finish it and release it as a reboot of the buzz lightyear movie and instead of it being a movie that andy watched as a kid it is gonna be a movie set in it's own reality also i am just gonna ask the question wich is why did earth not send a search and rescue mission for the star command ship that crashed on proxima for the survivors is earth abandoned because of the same reasons as in the disney pixar movie called wall e
These deleted scenes make more sense than the actual movie we got. If they wanted to show how Buzz became a Space Ranger, they should have used their old storyline and use these deleted scenes.
They wanted to show Buzz as a space ranger earlier in the film so that is why they decided to shift to an already established space ranger at the beginning of the movie.
@@judebaun9993 But Buzz being a space ranger at the beginning and then a test pilot in the middle, then being a space ranger again at the end doesn't make sense. Not to mention that the iconic suit he wore in the Toy Story franchise doesn't get any screen time and we never got to see the built-in wings and laser or what the buttons on said suit do. That suit should have been used like 65% of screentime. If they wanted to show how he became a space ranger, they should show how it all happened. Also, I didn't like how Buzz was portrayed in this movie. I was angered at how he was portrayed in Toy Story 4 as a bumbling, idiotic, bubble-headed timid buffoon who lost his intelligence and follows his "inner voice", when it's just his voicebox talking to him, but here, he's nothing but an uptight, arrogant, condescending jerk who shuns those who try to side with him or help him.
@@ThomasLover-fr8nh maybe in the middle of the movie they could have Buzz talk about how he went from being a time pilot to a space ranger in a conversation it gets brought and you’re complaining about how Buzz was portrayed in actual movie is off topic, but yeah they should’ve tried to find a way to have Buzz as a space ranger at the beginning of the movie and still show he went from being a time pilot to a space ranger.
@@judebaun9993 I'm not complaining, I'm just stating my opinion of Buzz's character in the actual movie. He was supposed to be loyal, kind, helpful and understanding of others' needs and feelings, not as arrogant, condescending and uptight. Pixar should have used their original storyline for Lightyear because it makes sense to me, even if Buzz wasn't shown as a Space Ranger in the beginning.
The movie definitely would’ve been better received if they marketed it as a movie adaption of something Andy likes as kid while he is in his adult life rather than retconning what Toy Story has shown

Yes, heck they could even make Zurg his father for a later movie. They didn't need to have it all in this one movie. The director was too married to the pitch maybe
Don't get me wrong, I love the film we got, I've probably watched over 10 times but the fact this version was closer to toy story makes a lot more sense and wish they had stuck to it. Also love the Fangirl of Buzz even though he's supposed to be a criminal she's still a superfan lol.
This movie robbed us from Buzz’s father the same why the aliens did in this original version. I was hoping they would explain Zurg’s origins but instead of his actual father was got an alternate timeline version of Buzz that doesn’t seem align with Toy Story. When Buzz and Zurg were talking to each other in Toy Story 2 they were in complete character and everything they say it legit where they are not aware they are toys. They think we wouldn’t be shocked by the twist, but it’s not about the reveal of Buzz’s father, it’s about how he became this way is what we want to know. At some point during production, there was a good movie but was ruined by studio interference.
