Jose Ramirez reminds me of Bartolo Colon. Both from the Dominican Republic. Both pretty soft-spoken. Both excellent in their given positions. Both love to simply play without making it about themselves.
And rather than skipping it probably welcome some dessert after their dinner.

This is part of his charm. As long as he can effectively communicate with his teammates, no problem at all.
Living in the US speaking no English must be a little challenging
i’m sure he speaks some english, maybe he is just able to describe to the media better in his first spoken language

Jose speaks English quite well (google the video of him ribbing Freddie Freeman). Remember players are instructed in how to say meaningless platitudes in both the minors and spring training, as the last thing the club wants is to have a player say anything controversial and deflect from the win. With foreign born players the risk is doubled as things can easily be misinterpreted due to the differences in language. By having an interpreter involved, it ensures there aren't any mistakes made.
