I wish Eggman could’ve met Maria, even for a brief moment. In Frontiers, Eggman mentioned in one of his voice memos that he never knew her. It would’ve been nice if they could allow the cousins to see one another.
Honestly, it's kinda funny when you take into account that Shadow Generations' story takes inspiration from two stories from the Archie comics: the Black Arms' return, and Shadow's closure with Maria and Gerald (which makes sense since Ian Flynn wrote for those, too). It's especially noticeable when you realize that Maria's last words to Shadow, before returning to their original point in time, are almost beat-for-beat the same as her last words to him when Nicole transferred him and Sonic into a digitized version of Gerald's diary. This just goes to show that even the Archie comics had some good stories to tell and pull from, even if they were surrounded by other more... infamous stories.
Also if you play the game you see Orbot and Cubot.. you help them collect stuff in the open zone. I'm glad they're in here since Dr. Eggman abandoned them in space at the end of Colors lol

Not a retcon, Shadow knows Black Doom already, he's just pretending to have the Professor and Maria think he too was pulled into the void at the same point in time before the incident.
I mean its so obvious he's pretended not to know but also wants Geralds opinion on it. Especially when he and DOOM are alone shadow knows exactly who he is and calls him Black Doom the moment he sees him. I think its just that side of the fanbase that just complains about everything.
I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THE ANIMATIONS ARE!!! I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! The animations are no longer stiff and expressionless. There's so much life and color in these animations. This is how you animate sonic characters. But also the writing and direction is absolutely perfect. Like SEGA are finally listening to us and giving us exactly what we want. But we also gotta give a huge thank you to the Sonic Movies because these course corrections wouldn't have happened without the movies helping the franchise out alot.
My God, what an amazing game... I'm glad they finally wrote Shadow so well, not as an ignorant edgelord who has a heart of stone, no, they showed that despite how he is, and he has a tragic past for behind this and that, even if he doesn't show it, he still has a heart and in it he feels guilty for not having saved his friends. This is why I love Shadow, and his story is tragic and should be portrayed as it deserves. I hope they maintain this pace in the next games because it's perfect. ❤️
This game made me realize how big Sonic Generations could have been. I really wish that the characters were playable. But hey I'm not disappointed. Hopefully we get to play as other characters in the future.

Alright, now that im done with this video. I'd say the story is pretty good. It's short and sweet. It would have been nice if it was longer, but im fine with it being this way.
I get why the powers have to go away for continuities sake, but come on. Shadow deserves to be the most powerful in base. I like Silver, but hate that he’s the strongest purely because of his psychokinesis. Bet Shadow could 1 shot all the Titans and The End with the peak of power he reached at the end of his fight with Devil Doom-inhibitor rings+super form.
Don't underestimated Gerald and Maria Robotnik. They may not look like much, but they're the reason why Shadow is every bit as heroic as Sonic himself instead of being Sephiroth 2.0!

The whole idea is just really poorly executed with no clear motive or accessibility when there is motive! 5: How does the military mistake Sonic for Shadow? THEY HAD CLEAR SHOTS OF HIM BEFORE RADICAL HIGHWAY AND KNEW THAT HE ESCAPED PRISON ISLAND! This story fucking sucks! 6: Why does Shadow's misremembrance of one scene with Maria make him want to destroy the world? His motive is Maria's final words and nothing about her in cutscenes even in the game indicate her as vengeful or hate filled! Shadows motive is based on leaps in logic!!! having shadow still wanting to have maria and gerald around is very insulting tbh. he left his past behind at the end of shadow 05 and wouldn't let it affect him any longer. the fact that he was written here to not only let his anger take control of him like it's sa2 again (even if momentarily), but to even consider the idea of using chaos control to have maria with him, after all of his development? it's very upsetting to me, personally. too bad it's all "peak" and "sonic is back" for the fandom, because shadow isn't being written well here
Be honest, if you lost a loved one and eventually moved on.. then years later they come back in your life and are "alive".. you would at least be tempted to keep them around. @@GamerGuyd7Aces using real people with problems that change all the time as an example doesn't work here at all though. i'm not shadow, shadow isn't me. they made it very clear that he left his past behind at the end of shadow 05, that's why 06 tried to do new things with him. and that's just how things are supposed to be. sonic nowadays is very much about going back and doing the things that worked well before once again with some empty visual spectacle and forced drama (like here) to make up for the weak writing, and exploring shadow's past here for the third time in the series is just another part of that, even if it means they'll have to basically undo all of shadow's character development to do so.
Well Generations is all about going back and revisiting the past so don't know why you're upset about this lol it's not like we'll ever see Maria again (besides in Sonic Movie 3)
@@GamerGuyd7Aces generations wasn't trying to really do anything so it's just lame but harmless. shadow gens is trying to have a story but it lacks any real meaning or message like all of sonic's plots nowadays, isn't cohesive with some of the plot points established in sa2, and it actively harms shadow's character by making him regress instead of making him grow from the past and his pain, or exploring other sides of his character. he's quite complex yet all we get is a shadow that's shown to be too weak to control his emotions, not the strong and focused character he used to be.

Duuude Sega Teams game animations have gotten so gooood. Like, its not anything world shattering, but MILES better than the previous mainline games

2: The fake Emerald Chaos Control. It's not really a plot hole but the whole concept of the emerald and it's behaviour on top of the fact Sonic did chaos control just by watching Shadow do it once is dumb
3: Maria says she named Shadow which while heart warming, flies in the face of the fact that Shadow was named after the GUN codename for the ultimate life form project.
4: Why does the ARK crash into earth? Did Gerald plan it all along? Did he somehow program it after he was locked up just like Shadow? The whole idea is just really poorly executed with no clear motive or accessibility when there is motive!
5: How does the military mistake Sonic for Shadow? THEY HAD CLEAR SHOTS OF HIM BEFORE RADICAL HIGHWAY AND KNEW THAT HE ESCAPED PRISON ISLAND! This story fucking sucks!
6: Why does Shadow's misremembrance of one scene with Maria make him want to destroy the world? His motive is Maria's final words and nothing about her in cutscenes even in the game indicate her as vengeful or hate filled! Shadows motive is based on leaps in logic!!!

having shadow still wanting to have maria and gerald around is very insulting tbh. he left his past behind at the end of shadow 05 and wouldn't let it affect him any longer.
the fact that he was written here to not only let his anger take control of him like it's sa2 again (even if momentarily), but to even consider the idea of using chaos control to have maria with him, after all of his development? it's very upsetting to me, personally. too bad it's all "peak" and "sonic is back" for the fandom, because shadow isn't being written well here
Be honest, if you lost a loved one and eventually moved on.. then years later they come back in your life and are "alive".. you would at least be tempted to keep them around. You wouldn't be like "Sorry loved one, you gotta stay dead. I've moved on".. and if that's what you'd do then that's heartless. Lol Shadow isn't heartless and he still did the right thing by accepting their fate and letting them go. He could've even told Maria and Gerald how they die so they can prevent it but he refused to do so
@@GamerGuyd7Aces using real people with problems that change all the time as an example doesn't work here at all though. i'm not shadow, shadow isn't me. they made it very clear that he left his past behind at the end of shadow 05, that's why 06 tried to do new things with him. and that's just how things are supposed to be.
sonic nowadays is very much about going back and doing the things that worked well before once again with some empty visual spectacle and forced drama (like here) to make up for the weak writing, and exploring shadow's past here for the third time in the series is just another part of that, even if it means they'll have to basically undo all of shadow's character development to do so.
Well Generations is all about going back and revisiting the past so don't know why you're upset about this lol it's not like we'll ever see Maria again (besides in Sonic Movie 3)
@@GamerGuyd7Aces generations wasn't trying to really do anything so it's just lame but harmless. shadow gens is trying to have a story but it lacks any real meaning or message like all of sonic's plots nowadays, isn't cohesive with some of the plot points established in sa2, and it actively harms shadow's character by making him regress instead of making him grow from the past and his pain, or exploring other sides of his character. he's quite complex yet all we get is a shadow that's shown to be too weak to control his emotions, not the strong and focused character he used to be.
This is easily the best sonic remake 12/10😢
