It can be very frustrating when your pool pipes are NOT labeled. It takes some trial and error and a process of elimination but this video is all about identifying your pool plumbing lines. After a little bit of time you should be able to ID all of your pool pipes.

Should the main drain and skimmer valve be fully “open”? Or is this just a personal preference?
Pls be my mentor. I love this trade but I have so many questions about pretty much about everything

I'll get this answer later today Erick. I'm about to head out and start my route. I actually like that you're asking questions, that's why I started this channel and other people are benefitting from the answers

@erickhernandez1451. If you don't have a pool cleaner in the pool then the flow should be divided equally between the main drain and the skimmer so leave them both completely open. If you have a pool cleaner in the pool then the main drain should be completely closed. If the main drain is open and the cleaner is moving over it, the pool cleaner can get stuck as they are both sucking in opposite directions. That is not good for your pool. I'll probably make a video on this also. Thanks for all your great questions and I appreciate the video recommendations.

How were you able to identify the main drain? Also was the main drain “off” facing up or down? Any chance you creating another video on “identifying pool valves”.

Hi Erick. The main drain was off with the valve facing up or down. These type of Jandy valves have a handle and on the opposite side of the handle says OFF. So the Jandy valves close off the water when the handle is in line with the pipe. That's the opposite of the "ball valve" that are colored plastic valves. Those are actually "open" when the valve handle is in line with the pipe. Thanks for bringing that up, I will make a video explaining the difference.
Now to answer your question. If there are 3 valves and we've identified the skimmer and the cleaner port then the 3rd valve has to be the main drain by default.

Now I understand. Thank you so much. Please create another video explaining on how to identify valves from your other pools,

@@erickrhernandez1451 I will do that video. Thank you for the recommendation. The other common valves are the ball valves.
