Best video yet. I have a Mako 2 and Mako 2 USA and they are fantastic. A little rotter noise. Solid watches. 155g on the factory bracelet on a 7.333 wrist, My SKX 007 on a Strapcode Roleball is 170g. The Makos run -12 and +8 respectively, and the SKX +6 on an average week on wrist. I love Orient Watch. It is a dressier deskdiver in the Mako 2 in black or blue. The Kamasu is great and Strapcode has bracelets for it.
Any way I love the new look and presentation. I like where your going as a channel. Good luck and all the support i can give.

Thanks so so much Ed, your support means a lot to me :) I am building slowly but surely. Finding my feet as it were. I'll get there, just need to stick at it.
Thanks too for all the info about your watches. I love hearing this stuff from my subscribers.
What are the differences between the Mako 2 & the Mako 2 USA? Which do you prefer?
I love my modded SKX 007. Did you see the video I did on that? Here it is if you missed it:ua-cam.com/video/wt2SidNAhPw/v-deo.html

Orient make some great and beautiful watches and they won't break the bank. A good start is the Bambino Gen2. It comes in multiple colour options. I have the one shown in this video and absolutely love it :) Best. MJ

I haven’t picked one up yet but I like the look of them. The specs are great and they look like they really are value for the money. I keep a few on my wish list on Amazon, you don’t see that many in house movements at that price point and they seem to have the respect of the community, see a lot of Seiko fanboys/girls picking them up.

    • @BeerandWatches
      @BeerandWatches  4 роки тому

Wayne, you really should pick one up. Be careful though, once you have your first Orient it will be difficult to stop. The Bambino was my first and I was immediately taken by it. The quality and attention to detail is truly amazing at the price point they sell their watches for! If you do end up getting one I would love to know what you choose. Keep me posted :) MJ

Beer and Watches that multi year automatic has really caught my eye. My jumping off point is 40mm as I have an 8.5” wrist, I like the movement (what I’ve heard of them) and that cream dial with the complications is really interesting. Just have to dust off my slide rule I think to figure out the day.

Wayne Turner yeah I like that too. I would need a lot of coffee to try and figure it out though. I bet it would get a lot of wrist attention😊👍

Hey Matt, I ended up getting the Seiko Presage SRPD36J1 limited edition (limited to 8000 pieces? Well that’s a new definition of limited) instead and a Prospex Seiko Samurai Save the Oceans. I’ll let you you know when I pick that Orient up however my wife is becoming suspicious....suddenly she has become acutely aware of my wrist for some reason.

Orient are a fabulous brand. Got a great name amongst many watch fans. Little known outside. Some nice choices. Personally, I'm after an Orient Polaris and Orient Star Seeker. The Orient Star are their higher end range. You must look at the Sports Diver.
    Great video as ever.

Thanks Matty :) Those two Orients are great picks! I could not agree more. People outside of watch owners have no idea about Orient. I try and educate whenever I can as they are such a great watch brand! I love all their watches :) Thanks for the tip on the Sports Diver. I will take a look. Best. MJ

I forgot all about the Neptune. So many Orient's that I will have to do Top 5 (2). I also have never had a watch with a power reserve indicator. It's on my wish list :) Enjoy your weekend too. Best. MJ

Never realized Orient had an Open Heart Sun and Moon. Looks gorgeous! I was debating on getting the Mako 2 for the longest time because I kept on thinking it would look small on my 8 inch wrist. I bit the bullet one day and glad I did, didn't really care about the size once I tried it on because the watch looks stunning in person.

I thought that open heart was stunning too. Just love the classic look. Have a great weekend. Best. MJ

Huge Orient fan but the issue is that everyone looks at Orient USA market stuff (which is the same lineup for everyone outside of japan basically). Stop looking at these, they are great competitive pieces but they are the boring baseline safe offerings. They are good "go-tos" and spec out the competition for people needing safe picks, I have a kamasu and Orient USA 2 (the only unique thing made for our market), they are great watches. But if you want to see their really cool shit then you have to look at JDM market Orient from the last 20 years, use zenmarket or some other proxy and stalk yahoo auctions.
You will see hundreds of models you have never heard of, the japanese are not hard on their objects, if you are okay with preowned watches then Orient is a blue ocean of cool models no one else is doing. The prices all said and done are also much better than the shmuck msrp you pay for the boring models over here. "Orient Watch" , "Orient Star", and just "Orient" (you will sift through more unrelated junk using that last term but it's worth it). Any cool or weird Orient you see on ebay or forums for sale at a stupid price is from a guy that is doing this and then flipping, more people need to actually GET INTO Orient as a brand, not just their bog standard yearly catalog and mass market watches.

@@BeerandWatches No prob bro, there isn't any harm in passing on this info because it all comes down to whether someone else is really compulsively looking for something at the same time as you (unless you are REALLY fighting with the japanese market on that specific watch then it isn't hard to get. )
Any orient you see, does not matter when it was discontinued, could be 1997 or 2008 doesn't matter. Just save the reference number, use the above terms and maybe just the REF # and just kind of flick through zen yahoo auctions when you are bored like some kind of nervous tick.
You only need to see what you want once to secure it, doesn't matter if its weeks or months, if it isn't a new old stock royal orient or something they made 12 of then you will eventually see it. If you have ever played pokemon gold/silver its like running into entei in the wild and trying to catch it real quick.
The other good thing is that you can't get sniped on zenmarket if you sit there and watch the auction at the end. Any new bid adds on time to let you have a response to it, you only lose a watch by genuinely reaching the limit of what you want to pay for it.
Last note though, orient's mainline international lineup is what it is for a reason. They are really good mass appealing watches that get you into them, but when you start seeing everything they produce you realize they have always made cracked out designs for not a lot of money. (Orient Grand Prix, a watch they put 100 jewels in.... to just do that.
Orient North Star (this has reissues that are always on zenmarket) where its a mechanical watch but has LED crystals surrounding the dial you can light up with a button. Anything from orient's retro future watches that are inspired from different objects. And then their reoccurring design ques they are known for like the power reserve, open hearts, any complication except chronograph where it's inhouse by them, odd dials, halfway house homages where something looks like an explorer but it's 34mm and has a salmon dial, etc. etc.)
