One of my favorite things about Orvar that I have realized playing against him is how easy it is to get him back out. Often when Orvar is targeted with removal I see the pilot copy their largest rock and just play him next turn
Mons: So how does this deck win exactly? Eric: Whim of Volrath. Mons:Whim of Volrath? Eric:Whim of Volrath! Loved this episode! I hope to see one on 4C Omnath at some point if possible.
So many good ideas in there ! I really like when you guys take various potential high synergy commander and make them Cedh and break them down to the core explaining everything. When Marwyn was out i was like "ok guys you will never understand what i'm doing but just watch me win playing my entire deck on turn 3" And when i saw you make the video i was like "finally marwyn is recognised as a good commander" because everybody alway talk abou selvala and forget how much it's cool to play elf tribal. Commanders like that are so interesting and fresh to play and/or to play against. Many original ideas. Keep it up !
I recently assembled in paper an Orvar deck, after constructing one in Xmage.Sadly, Xmage doesn't have a Whim of Volrath in its database, but Mind Games and Clockspinning are. My version plays a Sakashima and Spark Double...so making multiple non-legendary Orvar's with multiple triggers can be achieved...from this point I try to resolve a God-Pharaoh's Statue and clone it to a silly number, making all my opponents' spell cost excruciatingly more....No one is willing to play once their Vampiric Tutor cost 10 mana more. I hope to play it in person soon, with the current restrictions on gatherings being slowly lifted.
I thought of something cool, you can theoretically (in a much more casual deck) copy caged sun(s) to eventually have near infinitely tall blue creatures with lots of mana value. Edit: This deck explanation has invigorated me into attempting a somewhat budget version of this. Orvar is so cool and I love this deck tech.
4:27 I mean, it would be an absurd line, but if you orvar the Coveted Jewel defensively, you can potentially make an opponent deck themselves (brain freeze/psychic corrosion or similar) and since they die with the steal triggers on the stack, you should be able to keep them. (Edits: winds of rebuke and the sapphire medallion in his decks case. )
If youre ever looking for content, I love some update videos on these semi-fringe commanders (and their pilots) that are still relevant but have changed a lot with the meta.
Late to the party but the best budget funny combo I've found is mirror box, dark depths and whim of volrath with infinite gilded lotus. Did someone say 40 billion merit lage 20/20 with flying and indestructible?
I love orvar, and I play on a budget but still runs pretty good. Explosive turns and opponents really scared of it after I copy like 5 fishes in a game. 🤣
I feel so stupid because I immediately knew why Energy Tap was in demand, but one day when I randomly stumbled on Whim of Volrath I couldn't figure out why it had become so expensive. Great video mons.
Question about Whim of Volrath... Does it work against cards like Birgi and Black Market? I know it'll work on Carpet of Flowers. I would assume that anytime I see the mana icon that I can just replace it with a different color.
How does the Transmute Artifact combo work to search Coveted Jewel? I like the line but in a vacuum where you're only starting with Spellseeker and Essense Flux, what artifact are you sacrificing to search Coveted Jewel?
Kinda yes but not that strong. So it is good vs underworld breach kinda like a stax card. That can give you value. I can see a world where people would play that card for sure.
Nah, boring. I always win with sentinel tower while copyiing guilded lotus (or arcane signet with memory crystal / sapphire medallion) and btw, rhystic study is OP in this deck..
Mons looks like a child on christmas eve when Eric describes making 10 Spellseeker copies xD
This feels a lot smarter than my Orvar with Hedron Crab and Ruin Crab.

That is kind of how the behind the sceans talk sounded like.

Watching this video then got a hullbreacher is banned notification when you were showcasing the breacher line. What a day!
Don't underestimate this deck, Erik is a monster on it. Orvar is much more impressive than the sum of its parts.

Don't forget glimmerpost for a hell of life gain. Another nice one is Field of the dead, it is kinda slow but once it's online it goes insane.
@@LinguaVeritatisLmfao a shit ton of field of the dead is hilarious

Love these deck techs on new and interesting commanders keep them coming Mons 🙌
I very like you chanel , it's very cool the ideas that you have about you jeleva deck
Thank you. Jeleva is a fun commander :)
I run almost the exact same list, it shreds.
Orvar is my favorite deck.

We WERE a really strong hullbreacher deck
It still hurts a lot
Definitely an interesting deck and list!!
Subbed for this 🙏
Awesome! Just started brewing this.

Just a fun thing against those wheel + hullbreacher/narset, get orvar in hand, then copy that hullbreacher
Wait until I tell you about hullbreacher
Coveted jewel, Volrath thing, Thoracle and orvar=win as well. Who knew thoracle was good

Does this guy Eric have any more videos on Orvar? I'm new to MTG Commander and I'm loving playing this deck.
How does the Transmute Artifact combo work to search Coveted Jewel? I like the line but in a vacuum where you're only starting with Spellseeker and Essense Flux, what artifact are you sacrificing to search Coveted Jewel?
Hidden Strings instead of Essense Flux, mb
I don't remember on top of my head but I am sure we went over it in detail.
I run all the mana artifacts I can get in my deck and just sac one of those to get it. Typically a mind stone or something.
Might try this tonight!
Amazing! Omg is very cool
I love a good mono colored commander 🌶🌶🌶
How exactly does this deck win? Like how do you end the game?
That could be anything after infinit mana and draw deck you can do what ever you want. It can be walking balista or blue sun people to death.
I actually run an altar of the brood, aetherflux reservoir, and sunscorched desert as alternate win cons myself.
oh man my snakey tentacled boi.
Hey great video, do you think rod of absorption could be a new staple in CEDH ?
Kinda yes but not that strong. So it is good vs underworld breach kinda like a stax card. That can give you value. I can see a world where people would play that card for sure.
anyway to get a decklist to copy over to wooger
Ulala fist to get the look the video
So close.
Poggers
"We are also a very powerfull hullbreacher deck".... this aged pretty poorly... Still a pretty nice deck tech though haha
yeah this came out like the day before the ban.
First
Nooooo
I think Rosavig was first! You have been first a few times now I think.
Lol
Nah, boring.
