the 'ornament' in box 6 is designed to drip a few drops of scent on to the plaster. you can hang it into your closet/ a room/ your car. it's the old-school version of an air freshener.
I wouldn’t say you’re being cheap since no one needs 25 random beauty items that might not even suit you lol. But agreed, it’s fun to watch Lauren go through them and react to the stuff.
I remember 15yrs ago (and I guess thats a long time) but going on overseas holiday, I used to buy the little boxes of perfumes that size, you'd get 5x$56 or 6x$62. I used to buy them as my trip memories...and I finished the last of them off just recently. Concentrates, so one dab on your finger on the neck was enough, and the fragrance never faded, the bottles sealed well.... but the prices of good perfumes seems to have skyrocketed since 2019... like, by hundreds of dollars!!!! Its crazy! Perfumes I paid $80 for are now like $600!!!!
I read a report about the beauty industry performance during and after covid and they found that surprisingly perfumes and niche fragrances skyrocketed during the pandemic. Some of the analysts said they believed the experience of a fragrance during a lock down was worth more to people than let's say skincare or makeup. So consumers shifted to buying fragrances like never before and that drove the fragrance market to the place it is in now. (I work with marketing 😅)
For $720 I would expect at LEAST 3-4 full sized products from Guerlain. Especially because some of their skincare and makeup is not THAT expensive. I would be outraged if I received this as a gift and I saw that the gift giver paid almost $800 after taxes.
If I am rich I would buy it. I worked for Guerlain for 8.5 years and I very sure of the quality of all the products. Their candles do light up nicely and my entire apartment smells wonderful. Those samples are actually GWP. You need to spend a lot only to get it. Samples are just 3ml or sachet. To me it’s worth the price. Also the ornaments are priceless. I love to have it
The fact that THREE mini perfume bottles are already $190 is INSANEEEEE. I die a little inside every time i have to rebuy my perfume bottle like i literally cannot 😂. The “luxury” in luxury advent calendars is just not happening with any of these brands like 😒
I had the pleasure of working for Guerlain way back in 1992. I can remember handing out 3ml free sample bottles for customers to try. As a company they really looked after their employees and we got to try all their perfumes, makeup and skincare. Thank you for this honest and wonderful review ❤
That is an absolute beauty of a calendar! Perhaps it's because I'm a Guerlain fan of many, many years but that is absolutely beautiful. Btw the ceramic pieces as pomanders. You add fragrance to them and then hang them with your clothes or as an air freshener xx
Tip for the sweater , you could hang it in a window with direct sunlight for a few days-week and do both sides , you can definitely get that sun washed look and definitely lighten it up
I love watching your Advent unboxings! (You have saved me a fortune) May I add , that isn't an ornament- the plaster is meant to be sprayed w/ your favorite scent & hung in the closet or put inside a drawer or trunk. I had a French nana obsessed w/ fragrance & we had a house full of them.
Guerlain used to do a liquid liner in a beautiful little glass bottle with a gold brush. It was my staple makeup in the early/mid 2010s, I remember thinking at $38 it was so expensive 😂
I LOVE bar soap! I'm trying to buy less plastic packaging, and have found some really good bar soaps that are so good. The Guerlain one looks beautiful!
I’m addicted to bar soap! I have a box with about 20 🧐😳🫣🤫 but I have a good excuse for 12 of them, my goats milk lady moved to North Dakota & I had to buy up all the oat & honey bars plus a few other scents… I’m hoping to find a new goat lady at a church bazaar on Saturday (lol there’s a rural 70s phrase if I ever heard one 😂)
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory Yes, I've learned about the goodness of goat's milk bar soap, for all skins, but especially aging skin! Very good if you use retinal/retinoids!
Lauren, for some reason, I only watch your unboxing video's. It's so much fun, like unboxing with a girlfriend, and having a great time laughing and carrying on. This one looks like a treat! Thanks Lauren for all your hard work, especially during the Holiday season.
I'm 75 and my mom loved Shalimar. I also had a sister-in-law that loved and I do mean loved Shalimar. When she would visit the house would smell like Shalimar for days. I was always too heavy for me. Mom also love L'Heure Bleue
Gerulain is one of fave brands, I love the terracotta foundation, the gold primer, the terracotta bronzers and blush, the meteorites are best, use them everyday. the lipsticks that go in the case I have a pretty big collection of those. I typically buy the holiday collection and limited editions. The collab with Pucci was amazing!!!
Guerlain was originally a perfume house and is my personal favorite perfume brand. If I could afford that advent calendar I would jump on it and be thrilled! My top 3 fragrances by Guerlain are Le Heure Bleu , Apres l’ Ondee, and Shalimar ( original)
Ihave a collection of original Chamade perfumes. I'm scared to use them, because they're worth so much! But I do anyway, sometimes. I use Shalimar a lot.
TBH I don't think you're missing out on much. There are a lot of brands at Walmart that make dupes of their high end counterparts like elf. I also really love a lot of their perfumes (I know right?!) Dossier makes dupes of famous scents like YSL, Jo Malone, Lancome and whatnot. I own 3. The most expensive I've seen is $50 for their version of BR 540. Don't know if you wanted to know, I have Chloe EDP, Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey and J'adore Dior Dossier versions.
Honestly if it works for your face then thats perfect. My face/skin sucks. Thats the only reason why i use so many high end things bc its hard to find stuff that doesnt make me look old and craggley at the ripe age of 21…… thin skin it sucks. I dont even drink or smoke or do anything thats harmful to the skin. Thats why i troll tjmaxx and mercari for stuff. I hope one day my skin will suddenly decide to cooperate with me.
Hearing you say that it’s like a smoker covering up with powder is what my childhood in the 70s reminds me of. 🤣🤣 I know exactly what that smell is. I agree with you about the calendar. More like the hive of disappointment. Especially for that amount of money.
I love some of the Aqua Allegoria fragrances. (Herba Fresca, Orange Solleia, Mandarine Basilica). They’re perfect for my climate and lifestyle - fresh, non, cloying, great sillage on me and different enough that people ask what I’m wearing.
I buy the old school little chocolate advent calendars for my kiddos. They're nostalgic, fun, and inexpensive. That said I love watching the Advent calendar unboxings. It satisfies my curiosity without breaking the bank. So I appreciate when creators purchase them for content. Hopefully the views compensate you for the money spent to obtain them. I will say if I ever were to splurge on an Advent Calendar it would be on the LUSH calendar or an obscure one like a craft whiskey calendar. Things that I'd actually use and I enjoy. 🎄
I cannot afford a thing from this brand but it was a lot of fun watching you open up the advent calendar! I love fragrances. I am heading over to your fragrance channel to subscribe 😊 I love how excited you got over the lipstick! What a beautiful red for Christmas. And I TOTALLY saw you open 22 😳😆 I hope your Grandmother loves the box. It’s very pretty! Have a great rest of your week! 💖
I was looking forward to buy this calendar and I knew its content. I’m collecting perfumes so I’m happy to get mini bottles from their exclusive collection as well as Shalimar( I wish the bottle would be bigger). Also I really like the skincare and lipstick. As for perfumes I transferred them into spray atomizers so it is easier to use. Box I use as a storage for my perfume collection. Here in Thailand I paid $860 and I’m satisfied.
I just found you and when I saw what you were opening I had to watch. 💕 I’m 76 now but I’ve been using Shalimar parfume since I was 20 years old. 😁. I certainly can’t afford to buy any of the advent calendars but really enjoy watching the unboxing of them. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoy their aqua allegoria line. I have several scents from it and they’re just fun and light everyday kind of scents. They tend to be on the fruity floral side of things. They do have one that’s like an orangey vanilla that literally smells like a dreamsicle. I think it’s the bosca vanilla forte. Also their lip oil is fantastic! Is it worth the price they charge for it? Idk but I freaking love it. I like it better than the clarins if I’m honest. But it is pricy.
I have the Aqua Allegoria Coconut Fizz perfume, which is one of my alltime summer faves. I never purchased any of their make-up or skin care because money lol
Guerlain meteorite is something I collect every year and the finishes is very similar to the hourglass finishing powder. Although they did recently change their classic scent in the meteorites, so that is a huge bummer. I also used to collect their lipsticks, I remember that was my first real high end makeup and you could really feel the weight of the lipstick being so lux. For perfume, my favorite is actually mandarine basilic, so I’m really happy you got to smell it! It makes me feel like I’m strolling down the street in Venice with a basket full of citrus fruits lol. If you go to Epcot in Orlando, you can actually get your Guerlain perfume bottle engraved in there and I definitely got one of my Guerlain perfumes engraved in a Disney castle with the year on it. Overall Guerlain is still one of my favorite high end brands and I enjoyed watching this video so thank you! ❤
Woah! That’s so expensive but thank you for buying it and opening it for us!❤ edit: I do use the watery youth oil, day cream and the Mandarine Basilic perfume. Definitely my favorite for the summer. I have Shalimar but it’s a little too heavy for me but I keep it because of the bottle!😂
This was fun to watch! I love Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks and have a few. They wear well and the cases are both beautiful and practical. I love the mascara, too. I’ve never been too keen on the skincare that I’ve gotten from them as samples partially due to the fragrance and my skin tends to be picky about that.
Guerlain is a storied fragrance house. Their extrait is 80 dollars for that size it's double the perf😮me. They art and metiere is super well known in the fragrance community. Personally I love spiritueuse double vanille on the gourmand side, but also tonka imperiale, and angelique. You should visit their boutique always I discover lovely fragrance
I love listening to you describe the scents, you don’t just name the notes you kind of explain why they work or why they don’t. It’s nice because I’m always scared to buy scents because most perfume people explain them like they are bougie angel tears and devils coal. You make it easier for non perfume lady in the store people to understand.
The 10ml perfume can be transfered to a spray atomizer, they sell them online and come in various colors. Guerlain fragrances are some of the best in the industry and they never really go on sale or end up in any of the discount websites.. so in one sense you are getting "your money's worth" 🎄🌠
Thank you for opening this for us, just sitting and watching the whole reveal is an experience on itself. If I had the money to buy this for me I'd totally do it !! Because it's just so beautiful 😍 😅 I want those ufo 🛸 looking creams and the perfume bottles..what a luxury. I loved it so much❤❤❤❤
My mom has worn Chantilly Lace for years which I have heard is the drug store dupe of Shalamar. I smelled a few perfumes at the shop by Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland. Out of my price range, but fun to watch.
While I would never spend $700 on an advent calendar, I feel like the products are all a decent size. I usually get the Good Girl mini sets around Christmas for about $50 .24 oz each = .75 oz total A 1 oz at Macy's is $86 so the $50 is saving about $10 and $15 if I hit a sale on it. I actually prefer the small sizes and transferred them to glass spray bottles from Amazon. (Super cute and easier than dabbing on.)
My babysitter, who was probably born around 1915, absolutely loved Shalinar. l thought it was so sophisticated. Found a bottle in my mother's stuff I still have.
I was eyeing this calendar 2 years ago (if I remember correctly) I think it was around 500$ back then. WoW, did not know Guerlain was hurt by inflation this bad 😅😂
My daughter works for a global construction company. She told me that none of her coworkers wear luxury goods. They seem to focus on the kislux high-quality small boutique companies that make goods cheaper than the iconic luxury brands. There are lots of options. If you don't want to pay those high prices, there are a lot of great bags for just a few hundred dollars, not thousands.
I have two lipsticks and a perfume from GUERLAIN and I love it!!!! I wish I got their advent calendar! It is beautiful and it is one of the oldest luxury perfume brand😍😍
I know you said electric muppet but I loveeeee these types of colors on you! This and a random orange tank you had on in another video. The bright springy colors are so pretty!! This vid was hilarious tho 😂 really took one for the team
Guerlain's Terracota Le tient foundation. It was my first ever foundation by happenstance. I went to a well-renowned shop to buy my first foundation because I figured it would be good if it's from a good shop and this was on sale and the shop keeper convinced me to buy it as it was the only one with my perfect shade match. So I used it. As a 17 year old, it was just the right amount of coverage for my young and fresh skin, and I fell in love with how lightweight it was. bought it 2 more times, before I realized that I could find many other foundations ata much better price point and will not have save up to get my hands on. But still it's a great light weight foundation with a very smooth finish, that I would recommend anyone.
For that money, I'd buy my favourite perfume bottles , and a couple of lipsticks and the youth watery oil. I got the abeille royale day and night samples when I bought a full size perfume and a bottle of skincare . So maybe I am biased but that skincare is a bit much for me. If it was full perfume, I would have loved it
Thank You for offering your time and money in this thing ❣️. I hope it makes people hesitate to buy anything like this… I think this calender is insanely expensive as in the end with the most generous counting possible you just get a mere 24% discount from the original prices. And that is from the most generous perspective. Based on the value you get if you calculate the value by comparing the content the juices by measure per dollar. But in reality the juices in the bottles are not that expensive. The elaborate packaging however is. So when you get a mini bottle that too is less expensive, less luxurious and worth less amount of money. So in reality you might not get more than perhaps a 10-15% lower price compared to its real value… Most expensive calendars out there usually offer a 50-60% discount compared to real value. So this is a really an example of really poor value for your money kind of deal. Which in turn makes me feel a bit like these brands are laughing in their customers faces. Since they totally know this is the case. Cheap ornaments and mass produced soaps that I would not be surprised if they were not produced in China add no value. They are just trinkets. For those who wonder however the white ceramic in the ornament is meant to be sprayed with perfume as it can hold a scent for a long time. That is the only value with that trinket…
The Les Violettes loose powder is my absolute favorite and they discontinued it :( But my favorite bronzers are still around! They have a ton of different undertones to them and I really like the Sun Kissed Healthy Glow in the shade light cool for me. It's so light but it's definitely still bronzing and I just look so blended when I use it
the 'ornament' in box 6 is designed to drip a few drops of scent on to the plaster. you can hang it into your closet/ a room/ your car. it's the old-school version of an air freshener.
Yes, those are pomander's not ornaments

Wow, I had no idea.

I’m hoping she at least gets one full-size for Christmas. I’m about halfway through the video.
This cements the fact full size sets are a better buy than advent calenders. $5 in cardboard packaging is not worth it.
Can you get a smaller tree that is decorated with just advent ornaments? That could be fun or funny.

Nah. This calendar is a scam
Elegance and class at that price for just minis would be a fancy wooden box. Paying hundreds in upcharge for a cardboard box is not elegant.
@PandoraBear357 the brand is elegant, not the advent calendar. 😂

You crack me up! Love watching the unboxing and I didn’t spend money’s 😂
I loved it so much❤❤❤❤
Angelique Noir is one of my favorite perfumes! I hope you try it on skin and that you love it as much as I do!
But can imagine all these so beautifully displayed on a vanity?! INSANE ❤❤❤❤❤
The Guerlain website literally lists everything that's in the advent calendar, including the sizes of most of the products
I LOVE Guerlain. I went to the store on Champs Elysees…I’m excited
i love these videos. esp when you approximate the cost like someone opening little doors? thank u
This was the best one you have done yet
My fav Guerlain fragrance was discontinued L’Instant. I can find some bottles but it’s so expensive. 😮❤
Oh good someone else knew why the reason for the plaster ❤
I wish that they did a makeup and skincare calendar! Love their Orchidée line so much.
I love Diptyque ornaments. I hate that I can only get them with the advent calendar. I would be so excited about those lol
I just discovered your advent calander unboxing and I love it 😊
Try out the terra cotta concealer please in a video it’s very full coverage and I absolutely love the texture
Hey girls! Does anyone know the lipstick color in the calendar?! Love it
510 Le Rouge Vibrant. It's listed on the sales page for the advent calendar.
@ thanks! Oopsies
I got a sample of a guerlain orange scent a while back and loved loved loved it… but ya know can’t afford it 😂
Day 23 was it!!!! 🍊
I used to use Guerlain skincare and really liked it. Yes, it was expensive (I cannot remember my favorite product) but it was really nice.
I hope it makes people hesitate to buy anything like this…
I think this calender is insanely expensive as in the end with the most generous counting possible you just get a mere 24% discount from the original prices.
😂😂😂😂 OMG, Lauren! “Electric muppets” is my new descriptive words to put together! 😂😂😂😂😂
Ok your little shimmy while saying “this is the Catholic Church!” had me cracking up, as a lapsed Catholic now atheist. Made my Wednesday. 🤣
IMO you suit the lipstick that you are wearing in this video.
I have the whole abeille Royale honey skincare collection it’s amazing I love it
I loveeeeee your advent box series, can’t wait to watch this one! 💙
You didn’t even mention that your phone case is gorgeously matched to your shirt!! Love your advent calendar unboxings❣️
Your jacket looks fab! do not regret! 🤩🥰
Shalimar is Meryl Streep's signature scent!
I really enjoy watching your channels. You need to post more. 💕
Also, the Pucci collab isn’t something I need or want, but seems to be a collab that truly encapsulates the history of both houses perfectly.
