You got an update on the Canadian VAC law, MAID? I've contacted Dr. Jordan Peterson about addressing this. I'm not going to remain silent about it.

Love your cadence and the spirit you put into it. I am the mother of a fallen Army Ranger. As an FYI in "Mama told Johnny", a Vietnam Airborne Ranger would not have worn a tan beret. The beret worn by rangers wasn't changed from black to tan until June of 2001. God bless and keep doing what you're doing!

There is a quality to a good cadence caller that is hard to explain. You can feel it...but it's tough to define. It's the precise stretching of certain words, how the voice slightly breaks at the end of some words, a subtle throat growl, a rising pitch...it is really an art form and you nailed it, Jonathan.
When you call, it takes me back...the early mornings, the hand clap, the pounding boots (yep...that long ago), the energy, the camaraderie, the feeling of being invincible, the thrill of several hundred singing soldiers running through the Post housing area...and not hearing a single complaint. Hooaah...my brother!

Your cadences are excellent, thank you for sharing them! I grew up as an Air Force brat and my Dad used to sing cadences to us like lullabies. I am a Navy vet and I did the same with my kids and my Granddaughter who is a serving Marine. I am 65 now but I still have my 'Drill Instructor' voice and I still love cadences. I am married to a SAS vet and live in the UK now and have been introducing him to our cadence calling. He is really enjoying your work too.

This one brought tears to my eyes thinking about my 2 brothers who served in the Marines and fought in Vietnam and only came home by the grace of God.
My father also served in the Marines, he fought in the Korean war the few stories he told no human should ever have to experience that. He did not drink before going to Korea.

Thank you for the video, brother. I shipped out to Nam in December '69. Was an FO in the 5th Marines 2/1 at An Hoa base camp in the An Hoa River Basin in Quang Nam. Part of our AO was a place called the "Arizona Territory". After my 3rd action in it I came to the conclusion that no one leaves this place alive, though I knew many had. I never missed home so badly. 13 months and 9 days later I DEROS'd with only a very minor scalp wound to show for it. I saw many acts of selflessness by Marines to save the lives of their brothers. Also a special shout out to our unbelievably brave Navy Corpsmen. Thanks, Doc. On my DEROS as I sat in the door of the slick, my buddies were all there raggin' on me, and waving good-bye. It should have been the happiest day of my life, but I found myself fighting back tears. I had done my time, but I felt like a deserter. I didn't know if the FO that was replacing me was any good or not. Didn't know if he would help protect them or get them killed. But I had to go so I did my best to hold back tears, smile, and waved back. I've talked to a couple of my friends since and they said he was pretty good. I felt much better after that. That was 52 years ago, and I still miss them. You will never be as close to any group of friends as you will be to those who have fought, and sometimes died, beside you and for you. Semper Fi and "Welcome home" to all vets. Vietnam '69-71, 5th Marines 2/1 An Hoa/Arizona Territory, Quang Nam Province, I Corp

These cadences you share with that smokey/raspy voice are breathe taking and makes me think of the many who served who have passed on and what their life was like. You are beautiful in the heart, don't ever lose that. God bless and thank all the men and women that have served and/or given of their lives to give the freedoms we have.

Same here, except I tried to fake it and lie about it to get in...almost made it, me and my buddy did all the training and testing with our recruiter, I was able to keep up with all of it zero problem, recruiter took us to our asvap my buddy got a 39 I got an 86 shortly after right before meps they found out my knee was full of metal and that 80 percent of my cartilage was removed. My recruiter was pissed and told me I should have known I'd never get through with that and that I should have at least switched my asvap paper with my buddy So he would have had all the opportunity that came along with the 86. Had I known I was going to get caught with my knee I would have but at that time we both knew I was going to get a high score and his was going to be lower but I was still planning on joining with him on what he qualified for so it didn't matter. I guess I should have known they would easily find out about my knee but at that age you think you're invincible. He made it in the Patriot missile mos and I had to try and find something to do with my life, because military had been my plan from 10 years old.

This sounds a lot like a version of a cadence that I heard in Marine Boot Camp back in 1977 at MCRD. It was a very eerie cadence, done by only one Battalion in the early morning as they prepared for final drill.

I love your videos so much! Keep up the great work. Also I have a request...
I love Fallen Soldiers, one of my favorites, and I know there are already several versions, but what if you made an accompaniment version. Soft and sad. Like a rainy day. A soft memorial of those who perished for us. I don't know. Just a thought that definitely doesn't have to be done. I think I'd cry if you did though.
Thank you for your service and keep singing and writing music. We all appreciate everything you do.

I've never served, but I've always wanted to join the military. Unfortunately in my country they aren't enlisting any new recruits, and I can't get to an office overseas due to not having my permanent residency, and the travel costs is too expensive.
Anyone who knows me will tell you just how much I appreciate vets, ever since I was young. I can't really say what caused me to want ro be a soldier, but I've always felt that that's what I want to be, but could never fulfill it, so instead whenever I encounter someone who's serving or served, you won't catch me not showing appreciation for them.
To all the vets out there regardless of your location, thank you for your service

As the sibling of a fallen soldier it’s the hardest thing, I was told in my middle of school that my sibling had died in Afghanistan. I begged him not to go I begged and begged and he left, the last time I saw him was at his funeral. He had an open casket but what we didn’t see was the missing half of his body. This song makes me think of him and now I’m crying ❤ rip to all the K.I.A shoulders out there
