@@britishbulldogsvsthehartfo5677 Haven't watched it yet. The singing and dancing gets Itoh enough attention. I think it would work better if she sang and acted like a goof before and after matches but in the ring she'd be on fire. Crash Holly acted like a complete moron outside of matches but in the ring he was one of the most technically gifted wrestlers of the WWF Attitude Era. Danhausen acts like a weirdo but in the ring, from what I've seen of his indy work, he can legit wrestle and his moves look good. The Hurricane was a goof and yet in the ring he was one of the most captivating and eye catching cruiserweights of the 2000s. Itoh should keep the comedy outside the ring. Then when she gets in the ring she can actually work and shock people. Imagine her being a cutesy pop star one second and the next second she has someone tapping out with a Texas Cloverleaf. That would be awesome. She'd be someone that her opponent would take lightly and let their guard down, and then she'd capitalize on it by being a good wrestler, and with some underhanded tactics here and there because she's a heel. Itoh has the potential to break the mold and it's sad that she hasn't jumped at that chance by being more serious in ring. Watch Crash Holly's matches with Hardcore Holly, Dean Malenko, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Tazz and William Regal. He'd look like a complete dope outside the ring but then he'd be pulling arm drags, hip tosses and spinning elbows from out of nowhere when his opponent got a little too comfortable. Maki Itoh could be that. That's the perfect formula for a comedy wrestler. Weirdo who uses their unorthodox mannerisms to sucker opponents into a false sense of security, and then they strike. Modern comedy wrestlers should study Crash Holly tapes imo. Dude might be the most underrated comedy wrestler ever. Dude could work like hell and used his knack for comedy to compliment his skill. A lot more people should do that now. And Crash was also a great Hardcore wrestler since he wasn't a garbage deathmatch guy. He'd be clever with weapons and use them in effective ways in order to sneak the win and keep his precious title. Dude knew how to work with anything. Crash honestly made me fall in love with Hardcore and Comedy wrestling. Because he knows how to do it. He isn't Ian Rotten or Orange Cassidy. He's Michael Lockwood.
Imagine being so bitter and petty that you dislike a guy who did amazingly well just because he happens to come from a promotion you don't like. I hope they sign Takeshita and give him a nice mid card push. If he continues to impress like that, make him a main event star!
Yea that powerbomb was nice. I think he needs a chance. Because I have seen some of today's top wrestlers old videos of them doing some of that same dumb shit like Jim is getting on takeshita for. Shayna Bazler wrestled that Joey dude that put lollipops in people's mouth and let him feel her up like a hot air balloon and made her look like a complete fool in the ring but she got a chance. I say it's not too late to save him.
Takeshita is so Charismatic Im become an instant fan of him when i first saw him against Danielson then i saw his earlier matches in AEW Wow just amazing
For anyone wondering about the pronunciation of Takeshita's name like Jim and Brian were pondering, the way Brian was saying Takeshita's name is how a native English speaker would pronounce words. This is because English is a stressed-timed language so when speaking you stress or elongate certain syllables in words. Take Brian's pronunciation of Takeshita's name. When he spoke it he kept ta and ke the same length of time but elongated the shi. Japanese, on the other hand, is Mora-timed which means each syllable spoken in that language is the same length of time. That's why if you were to hear a Japanese speaker say Arigato vs an English speaker it sounds like the Japanese speaker is saying it faster. They're actually not, it just sounds like that because they aren't stressing the ri or the to like an English speaker would. Japanese also uses only 5 vowels exactly the same as Spanish, a i e o u. So the ke in Takeshita's name is pronounced keh. I hear AEW's pronunciation of Takeshita's name and it seems they're trying to give him the proper Japanese pronunciation but not realizing how the rules work.
I love Corny but I dont think he should bury Takeshita just because he wrestled in DDT and they do weird stuff there. Someone should ask Corney what he thought about Mick Foeley wrestling a cardboard cutout of Rocky Balboa
@@radandpaisley how DARE HE do something fun for the kids that wasnt televised, this invalidates ANY AND ALL opinions and wisdom of Jim Cornette because of this thing from over 30 years ago!!!
He's doing it on purpose. Jim despises Asian wrestlers so he botches the names intentionally. You'll also notice that he never has anything nice to say about them.
@@kalen2465 I know he does it on purpose, he does it with a lot of men and women on the roster. So I’m ok with that. It’s his unwillingness to accept the difference between the wrestling cultures in Japan somehow blaming Takeshita for wrestling for DDT like it’s a bad thing. Especially without fully understanding what DDT is. Couple that with his decades long anger from knowing that everyone in the world knows wrestling isn’t actually “real”. Anyway, Takeshita is an obvious talent. I’m here to see him.
AEW showcases a lot of wrestlers with a lot of moves that they fire out like a machine gun but they just keep debuting more and more people without getting anyone over with stories, mic work, or even ring psychology. I liked this guy's ring work, though.
I don't know. Punk wearing that shirt felt more like look at me wearing this shirt than the message it says. I doubt any government official saw it and was like 'oh, maybe I should rethink my closed-minded stance'. Now normally, I love hearing me some Cornette but this CM Punk fellatio fest is starting to wear on me. I have seen or heard nothing to suggest he's currently doing anything worth any praise let alone this much of it.
I hated how Adam page just didn't sell any strikes, takeshita was throwing very good looking strikes and he just took it on the chin. If he properly layed those in the way page had his head and chin he'd be out immediately. That was horrible to watch. Takeshita is great though, so good the language barrier isn't too bad of a problem becuase you can believe he's actually in a contest like actual wrestling. Although it is unfortunate that he wrestled a child I am genuinely more interested in watching his matches more than 98% of their roster so, yeah I'm not bothered
Most of these "wrestle a kid" matches were completely meant to be fun fan interaction. They weren't "Super Steve Strong is undefeated, except when he lost to a nine year old, it's in the books!"
Take a shit is very promising , bar beating up a kid in the past this dude can wrestle well he has a great move set and a great look. I look forward to seeing what he does in the future
Takeshita can high-motor work -- but ya gotta wonder if Tony Khan actually had a plan for him before the AEW/DDT deal was announced. And since the W/L record is supposed to mean something....2-0 on Dark, 0-1 on Rampage, 0-1 on Dynamite (in that order)......and 2-0 for bookings outside AEW -- it looks like someone on a USA tour that an agent booked for him; not some cornerstone grappler in a ballyhooed talent exchange. The victory over Aramis on May 1 (PWG Delivering The Goods) is arguably his best match, so far; his top rope lariat there was better than the one delivered to Jay Lethal.
I remember when Jim was of the opinion the worst thing an indie wrestler who wanted to be taken seriously could do in front of live fans apparently was wrestling a woman unless she was both bigger than he was and at least six feet tall (so basically Rio Storm, NYX, Maddison Eagles, Vannessa Kraven, etc.). Then someone had to introduce him to Dramatic Dream Team. He had no idea and it's kind of sad to see his innocence so thoroughly destroyed. I bet if someone showed him Claudio Castagnoli wrestling Sara Del Rey the only thing we'd get from Jim is mild indifference. What we really have to do is get him to see the no loud noises match, or the slow motion match, or the no grappling allowed match...he might actually like that one but hate the way it was booked. Anyway, the weird subset of DDT fans are easy to explain. They have no respect for "American" wrestling, and to them DDT is a parody of "American" wrestling. It's weird for us because you'd be hard pressed to find a large enough group of "Americans" who have such open disdain for any other region's wrestling. What I can't explain is why Tony Khan, as an American, is so open to having these DDT wrestlers on his television show. Takeshita is being respectful, true, but the Maki Itohs and the Nakazawas are basically making fun of him in his own ring on his dime. Omega's Canadian, so he probably considers himself exempt from the derision, but I don't know why anyone who identifies as "American" would want to work with DDT, or any of its offshoots, unless they just needed the money or ring time. Khan needs neither.
Takeshita looked way superior and much better than Page. Like he probably should of won. First time seeing him and he seems like a really good wrestler from what I saw from this match. Hope we can see more of him
I know he's a DDT guy and now that you see his name you have to try and not call him by how it looks but Takeshita is a star. Hell, he looks more like a champion than Hangma'am. He's got size, he looks good, he moves well, and his moves have an impact to them. He carried Hangman and made him look like a fool. A pity this watch was just to try and once again fail to get the champion over. We that followed that up with an awkward stare down between Punk and Page, Are they going to finally kiss and confess their feelings? Or do both pretend to be the tough guy heel? I have no hype for the title match. If Punk loses to Hangman, it completely demises his entire purpose in AEW, like they already did Danielson. I feel if Punk wins, then what? Who do they even really have to challenge him unless it's the same cast of jokers, or him beating all the "Young talent." It feels like a no-win situation and everyone else but Tiny Khan loses.
Punk’s political takes are just as bad as Cornette’s. In fact, I think if CM Punk engaged anyone intellectually on the topic, even if another celebrity who knew about the topic, he would get totally shit on. Hell, I’m fairly certain I could. Texas hasn’t banned abortion, they banned it ONLY after a heartbeat is detected, which is like eight weeks or so in to the pregnancy. Is that not enough for you people? That’s a great compromise in my opinion. Edit: Also, Punk got shit from fans on Instagram about the shirt. So, in typical liberal fashion, he posted the conversations and cried about it on his story rather than refute anything those people said. I even tried sending a message but no dice. Absolute dunce.
only GOD should judge and condemn women on what they do to their bodies.... not 70yr old corrupted politicians in Washington. the same corrupted individuals who couldn't provide people baby formula. the same individuals who couldn't save the lives of children of shooters. but, yeah. please treat this like it's such a very big deal
Since when did bad gimmicks in one place (or even the same place) mean a wrestler couldn’t thrive in another place?? The Ringmaster, Kane the dentist, Hell, wasn’t Okada the Green Hornet in TNA?? Besides, who has even seen DDT??? Other than rants here, I’ve neither seen nor heard of it.
Hopefully Cornette sees past DDT this one time even though I feel the same way he does. Takeshita seems to actually care about wrestling and making it look good aside from his past he’s done great.
Why is it that Japan has a promotion where they sanction matches between grown men fighting children and plastic props? Is it a cultural thing? And Is this a well renowned promotion with a high budget or an indie promotion in Japan?

Oh FYI I am loving the Twitter posts about Audrey's weird poses lol
Is Wheeler Yuta a budget Konosuke Takeshita?
Imagine being so bitter and petty that you dislike a guy who did amazingly well just because he happens to come from a promotion you don't like. No research or clue as to what he was doing there, but just immediately marking him as forever tainted even though you love what you have seen from him.
I hope they sign Takeshita and give him a nice mid card push. If he continues to impress like that, make him a main event star!
Cm Punk was super over in Houston. I chanted out loud for him in the Fertitta center with my friends.
Take-a-shita 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 FUCK THATS HILARIOUS!!!
this match was good i loved that last ride powerbomb takeshita hit page with he has some hard hitting move set
His moveset is heavily inspired by Sami Zayn. Really appreciated the commentators mentioning that
Yea that powerbomb was nice.
Takeshita is so Charismatic
Im become an instant fan of him when i first saw him against Danielson then i saw his earlier matches in AEW Wow just amazing
"...amputee whooping crane..."
How does Corny come up with stuff like this on the spot?
It's called 'wit'. Something you'll never have to worry about.
@@ennbee2051 Sure I won't, junior. 👍
not being as dopey as some people i guess.
Adam page as world champ makes it feel like a territory champ.
Someone should ask Corney what he thought about Mick Foeley wrestling a cardboard cutout of Rocky Balboa
or about Jim himself wrestling a TMNT character lol
I think its more of a "well he was ok with doing this, so he will probably do something worse eventually" reaction.
@@radandpaisley how DARE HE do something fun for the kids that wasnt televised, this invalidates ANY AND ALL opinions and wisdom of Jim Cornette because of this thing from over 30 years ago!!!
He hated it. You’d know this if you actually listened to the podcast. But you’re a clip warrior
@@radandpaisley he hated that too. Thank you for being a fool and ousting yourself as someone who doesn’t listen to the podcast.
Ta-Ke-Shta
The i is almost silent a lot of the time in Japanese
He's doing it on purpose. Jim despises Asian wrestlers so he botches the names intentionally. You'll also notice that he never has anything nice to say about them.
@@kalen2465 Oh is it? Except the fact he has been extremely appreciative of the "Asian" guy in this video.
Bruh! Amputee whooping crane 😂😂😂
As long as the guy doesn’t do anymore comedy gag spots I’m fine with pretending he never did them and is a serious wrestler.
Amputee Whooping Crane = Gold
Awesome Shoot Today Jim!!😎🐐🐐
Takeshita showed immense talent against hangman. It was a great match.
This match was the perfect time to Takeashita.
Take Shita. Lmao I swear, Jim be killing me. Lol
Give Take a cute and innocent looking girl manager who is to be his onscreen love interest and he just wrestles as a babyface.
Yeah the local government really cares what shirt a 40 year old failed ufc fight wears. LMMFAO!!!!!!!
Take-a-shita
id toss the TNT title on him, but because they treated it like a hot potato another title switch might cause some angst
Take is so good. Like seriously. Even when he was really skinny he was great. Matches with Tetsuya endo amazing
I want a “My Boy TakeShita!” T shirt
I thought CM Punk would be a heel in Texas wearing that T-shirt.
🤣 5 secs this time. those cm punk jingles get better and better every time
Takeshita is only 26, I won’t hold that DDT stuff against him. But AEW or WWE need to sign him ASAP
It’s funny I hear this while I Takeshita 🚽🤣🤣🤣
my friend Take is a better wrestler than 3 of the so called "AEW's 4 pillars" so I don't care he fought a child in that japanese freak show.
Takeshita is starting to heat up , dude just looks clean and crisp in the ring
Take-shit-a 😏🤣🤣🤣
"Never been a weaker world champion", now Jim, there's a lot of WCW viewers who would love to forget why that statement isn't true.
This match started off very well, but they then started going into the spots that looked way too choreographed and video game like.
Did Excalibur call him "ta-keisha-tah"
Most of these "wrestle a kid" matches were completely meant to be fun fan interaction.
They weren't "Super Steve Strong is undefeated, except when he lost to a nine year old, it's in the books!"
And he doesn’t care. No reason to do it at all. Just as stupid when WWE did it with the dying kid.
His last name is literally TakeShit 😂😂😂
"my boy take shita" XD
Oh I see his last name is "take-a-shitta"
Hope we can see more of him
Ive learned not to like anyone new, because as soon as i do, AEW will book them so terribly i wont care about them anymore.
So no problem with take getting hit with the buck shot and immediately getting back up?
I agree corny is ignorant when it comes to politics. We’re here for the reviews about wrestling not the crazy personal political feelings rants.
He was the Kato to Samoa Joe's Green Hornet to be technical.
Takeshita rocks, kicking out of a tombstone makes me sick however.
Why? Look how many people have kicked out of 2 or more undertaker tombstones
Darby and Sammy may no sell by recovering too quickly but these two were no selling the IMPACT of the moves AND the recovery.
I miss Olivier :(
Takeshita took a shitta on Page! And completelly out performed him!
Takeashit has good size, good wrestler he is basically a Japanese Sami Zayn which is hilarious, wrestles exactly like him & does all the same moves
He had his debut match against El Generico so he pays tribute to him by using some of his moves and sequences.
Let's Go Brandon!!!
Hopefully Cornette sees past DDT this one time even though I feel the same way he does. Takeshita seems to actually care about wrestling and making it look good aside from his past he’s done great.
He tried to see past DDT, but a fan already sent him a clip of takeshita doing comedy junk over there and he's soured on him.
check out his dpw fire match.
Takeshita looked so big compared to page lol
Why is it that Japan has a promotion where they sanction matches between grown men fighting children and plastic props? Is it a cultural thing? And Is this a well renowned promotion with a high budget or an indie promotion in Japan?
My only complaint about this match is I don't think he should've been in the ring with the world champion imo...and at the end of the day those DDT guys are just ppl to come over and get jobbed out by Tony's big stars👎👎
