The issue is coming from Chinese culture. More crap. Always more crap. At the opposite: Japan, Germany, Swiss, etc.. Minimalist but super accurate stuff are coming from them. Great work as always! There's one thing I'd really like you to cover, that is the sleep tracking performance of smartwatches/bands when using a third-party algorithm, specifically SleepAsAndroid app for android. This would take away those mediocre proprietary algorithms from the equation an really show the potential of a device. Although it doesn't support every device, it does a good job paired with wearos devices, mibands, amazfit, and some others. I'd honestly love to see it being tested!
Me too, I've been using this one from some time and I need to admit that SleepAsAndroid shows different results that original Samsung sleep tracking app. I wonder which one is more accurate.
This is a great review! Honestly, I wouldnt be too reliant on a smartwatch regarding my health, I'm pretty surprised that the watch 5 have a somewhat average performance and not completely crap. I guess I'll wait for the GW6 to see if they can better battery life, HR accuracy, sleep stage tracking, and so on. Been saying that since the GW Active 2 or whatever it was called. I'm not holding out any hope. So maybe the GW7 might get it right? Thanks for the review! Great stuff.

Doesnt have to be perfect. But at least have testing accuracy close to other sports watch. Thank you for this review. Great video as usual! I wish If you could start testing the other health features like the ECG, heart monitoring and maybe even the body composition, ... many smart watches test these things now, and Withings has many products that test these things also.
I absolutely love your research. I'm so frustrated because you have to shut down all of the sensors just to preserve the battery. What's the use of a watch if you can't use the sensors. Please evaluate the battery more! This is critical. 40mm vs the 44mm. I have the 40mm, the smaller battery is critical on how long it will last. Thanks!
Great data review as always - love watching your videos. Was wondering if you also changed the settings on the watch to reflect the arm the watch was on when switching arms. By default I believe the orientation setting is set to the left arm and I'm wondering if changing it to the right would improve the step count reading accuracy of the right arm. Maybe worth trying out on your future review of the Watch 5.
The battery could be due to the fact it takes some time for samsung watches to optimize the battery for your use, I am going to guess that you had been using the galaxy watch 4 before the tests? Or did you reset them both?
I remember when I first got the watch 3 it used to stay for two days, then after an update it wouldn't even last a day, and later back to 2 days after yet another update. Could be a software thing that could be fixed later for the watch 5.
Some of the positives/negatives may be due to the apps/software algorithms (which are the same/similar) rather than the hardware. So the results may improve as they work out the bugs, but new hardware may not be the answer. I am also surprised at your battery tests, not so much that the 4 performed better than the 5...but that the 4 performed well at all. There is not a single review of the 4 that was able to achieve more than 1 day per charge, but you seem to have outperformed this.

Thank you for this. I am very disappointed as "I was" considering the Watch 5... now I am looking elsewhere checking your other reviews which are the only scientific analysis I have found. BUT.. ALSO... could you in your future test include swimming as an exercise for the heart tracking. Your work is credible and outstanding.
I know the advertising will show people swimming, but water damage will void your warranty even if its from swimming. Swim at your own risk fellas. All it takes is the smallest imperceivable crack to lower the water resistance of the watch.
Regarding extra awake time. I already mentioned this, but samsung states awake time also include moments when you change position, so it's not necessarily "awake" time, but rather movement detected by the watch. However, this monitoring seems to be worse than what I had with my watch4 lol
I'd certainly agree that when this watch is tracking the heart rate, it is pretty accurate. I bought mine end of Dec 2022, and it was doing a perfect job for about a month, then end of Jan/beg Feb it started to not track the increase of heart rate after the start of an exercise. This sometimes happened up to a third or more of the way through the workout. Once it tracked it was perfect to the end of the workout. But despite having it at Samsung Repair twice now, with parts replaced, it appears even worse, even when reset back to Nov 2022 firmware by Samsung. Now I see I'm not the only one complaining about workout tracking HR. So today I bought a Polar H10 chest strap instead for the workouts. Although many do report this issue, not everyone has the issue, but it is worth noting in case others also have this problem. Other functions and normal; resting HR etc all seem to work fine though.

I noticed that on the Samsung Healths app, if you look into sleep it generates data information for you along with the sleep cycles. Though the Watch5 still has a lot of awake time.
Hi, very good review as always!👍🏼 You mentioned a second test of the Samsung Watch 4. Could you do a second test with the Garmin Epix 2 as well? This is a really expensive sports watch and was tested right when it came out. Results have been worse in comparison to the Samsung Watch 4 (which costs much less). It would be interesting to see if software updates improved the heart rate measurements. Many thanks!
Sir i have a query! Huawei watch gt3 has a better heartrate senson trueseen5+ While huawei watch fit 2 has trueseen 4 But the results of the huawei watch fit are more accurate. Why is that? And if its the software then if the huawei gt3 is updated will it be a better option to buy?
It's sad that companies try to convince people with health issues it's safe to switch to these watches to keep track of things. When they aren't very accurate.
Great review as always! Is there a reason most watch don't work very well at tracking heart rate during weight lifting compare to other fitness exercises? Would doing squad only improve the accuracy?
Thank you for your review! You have saved me trading my galaxy classic watch 4 for this new watch 5. It is disappointing that it is not an improvement. I guess I will just stick with my watch 4 classic and utilise a polar H10 strap and run Google fit alongside Samsung Health....my search for one watch that is accurate and does all is still ongoing!
Hi Rob, you never waste my time 👌 Always very helpful and sometimes just disappointing, not you, but watch you're testing. what to do now? Galaxy or Venu 2 plus
I have the Mi Band 7. Despite the appearance it's clear why it's a 'cheaper' device. It's disappointing in most ways as a smart wearable. Notifications are limited in how much they show, battery performance is quite poor, software support is awful with only a small handful of watch faces etc. Amazfit watches are a league above in the budget bracket.
Do you feel that arm movement interferes with the accuracy as a chest strap is relatively motionless as compared with your wrist lifting weights or the shaking of a bike when riding? Something to possibly consider.
Many thanks for the review, very detailed as usual! Do you think the Watch 5 has had any big improvements by now (in terms of accuracy), with more software updates? Or would you say it's still similar?
I also do weight lifting, not with the watch 5 but the watch 4. I tried to analyse if its able to pick up the increase in heart rate during sets, and it does not have problems doing this. But i also don't doubt that you are wearing the watch correctly. It might be a bit misleading that in your particulair case its not able to pick up the heart rate during lifting correctly, but for others it might be able to. it would be interesting to test this with another person, possibly different posture aswel.
Just curious, but what do you do with all the watches you purchase? Guessing the reviews more than pay for themselves. Keep it up, you're doing a fantastic job.
Can someone recommend a watch or band that does both sleep tracking and heart rate well, every review I watch it's either one or the other and I'm at the point in thinking is there any point to owning one of these devices if they're not accurate?
Can't wait for next year's Galaxy watch. It's supposed to have new processors and have major battery savings. Maybe we will have a Samsung watch that can charge once every several days rather than everyday that we have.
Very interesting and useful video, though I am not quite sure about your assessment on the measurements on GPS accuracy. I sail and have two Garmin GPS devices (one of them being the Garmin 78) and several navigation programs (apps) installed on my tablet and cell-phone to assist me while doing my navigation through the waters. Any of those are continuously informing the GPS positioning inaccuracy, which might very commonly vary from nothing up to plus-minus 25 meters deviation/inaccuracy (even when more than three satellites might be being used to set a position). The error/inaccuracy tends to be jumpy and not constant. Now let’s imagine that when you were cycling one day, at a given location there was a 20 meters error on determining your position and lets say it happened to be to the right of your path, and then the next day, there was for the same location a 20 meters deviation to the left. That could (could it?) determine a 40 meters difference of the specific location drawn for the path (track) from one day to the other (but that could have happened even if a Garmin specialized GPS was used to do the tracking). I am not saying that the watch’s GPS is or is not good enough (I don´t know and probably is not perfect), I am just saying that I think (though might be wrong) that your measurements in this regard might not be taking into account (might be overlooking) a variable or perhaps are missing an efficiency comparison with other GPS devices (as you certainly did for other covered aspects of the watch). (sorry for my English, as it is not my native language).
Thank you for this test and especially the SP02 section! I find my GW5 is also lower and shows 94% most of the time 😳... Can you test the Galaxy Fit 3 SP02 please 🙏

i bought huawei watch fit 2 because of this channel. it performs wonderfull. it is always shows same hearth rate with professional macahines at gym
Sir i have a query!
Huawei watch gt3 has a better heartrate senson trueseen5+
While huawei watch fit 2 has trueseen 4
But the results of the huawei watch fit are more accurate. Why is that?
And if its the software then if the huawei gt3 is updated will it be a better option to buy?
What a great analisys and vídeo, thank you so much
There is or there is not temperature sensor??
I would love you to test the pro to see if the pro has a superior software entwined within it.
Just NO
Which device do you use for your every day device?
Very keen to see you revisit the GW4!
The sleep testing was so unfair for the watch lmao. 😂
What about the BIA sensor? Any data on that?
Loved the video
It's sad that companies try to convince people with health issues it's safe to switch to these watches to keep track of things.
When they aren't very accurate.
Great review as always.
Thanks for the great review. What about ECG measurements ?
he didn't do BIA either... I'm so confused why we got gps tracking review but not biometrics..?
Did you have the same size watch 5 as the watch 4? Both 40mm or 44mm?
Thanks for testing these watches for us. Because of you I bougt Huawei watch GT3 42mm. Cheaper and better than Samsung.
Great review! Thank you!
Hi Rob, I would love if you'd talk about the bio-impedic composition sensors. How does the watch perform relative to dedicated instruments?
Hi Rob, you never waste my time 👌 Always very helpful and sometimes just disappointing, not you, but watch you're testing.
what to do now? Galaxy or Venu 2 plus
great work i almost watch all your reviews. are you planning to do any review for the xiaomi mi band 7 pro? seems like a great value device too!
Love your reviews, the only full in depth reviews out there. Mi Band 7 Pro next? 🔥
Have you ever tested any polar ignite? I couldn't find anything... Cheers
I'm using the Galaxy Watch 4 classic and I can't wait for your GW4 update and comparison to GW5.
Awesome video. Are you going to test the watch 5 pro?
Do you feel that arm movement interferes with the accuracy as a chest strap is relatively motionless as compared with your wrist lifting weights or the shaking of a bike when riding? Something to possibly consider.
Great review. Did you also test the ECG?
Best accuracy test video....
Are these problems of accuracy during detection ( Hr, gps track etc.) fixable with software updates or they are hardware deficiencies?
This is the question I would like to get answer also.
When mi band 7 complete review will arrive?
Hi! It has been delayed a bit, but will come for sure!
Great review!
Can someone recommend a watch or band that does both sleep tracking and heart rate well, every review I watch it's either one or the other and I'm at the point in thinking is there any point to owning one of these devices if they're not accurate?
Awesome video. I appreciate all the time and expenses that you go through to bring these videos to us. Respect Sir
Do the Mi Band 7 please
I am one complete scientific review away from buying it!
He did it already
which band/watch has the best accurate fitness measurements??
Any upcoming reviews on Xiaomi S1 pro?
Time stamps are 🐐ed.
Cool video 😊
Great review! Looking forward to your future movies as Dr. Strange or Sherlock Holmes.
Thank you for this test and especially the SP02 section! I find my GW5 is also lower and shows 94% most of the time 😳... Can you test the Galaxy Fit 3 SP02 please 🙏
thanks for the test
Thanks for watching as always James!!
Sorry if I missed it but why is apple watch not on sleeping agreement chart?
Does the blood pressure monitor still require calibration? If so how often do you need to calibrate it?
