Nice Job on the new axe! I would have done the same thing with the odd color pickup! I have a Kramer 300ST Guitar that I purchased new in 89 white all black hardware!
That's a cool guitar and you did a good job tweaking it my only issue is 24 frets on a vintage looking Kramer. Nothing against 24 fret guitars I have many Ibanez guitars but for me Kramers and Charvels just look better with 22 frets, of course who gives 2 shits about what I think? Cool guitar man! I really dig your sound by the way, you nail that 80's tone!
The two things keeping it from being perfect (after my mods) are the fret size and neck profile and the neck profile is close. I thought about a Warmoth neck for it but I love the finish and the fingerboard. I may start getting into re fretting and if I do ……..
Maybe this video should be sent to Kramer so that they can upgrade the model next time! I had the flametop version and it was nice except the middle pickup was weak and messed with my picking. Also, they should add an arm contour.
I've emailed Floyd Rose. All licensed Floyd Rose trems and Floyd Rose special trems have hardened steel plates where the knife edges are. There is no exception to this! All of the bridge anchor pins and screws are hardened steel as well, no exception either. But... All Floyd Rose specials and licensed Floyd's use zinc alloys everywhere else on the bridges. The screws tend to strip out over time. Easily replaced by a stainless steel kit. And if you do this, your licensed Floyd or Floyd Rose special becomes just as good as a 1000 series. But all the plates use a solid hardened steel. Stop setting string height on Floyd's at full tension, at the very least, remove the rear springs before turning them to adjust your height. Cheers!
I was able to pick one up on sale at guitar center. Luckily, mine didn't have any of the quality issues others seemed to have. I plan on putting EMG'S and a gohto 1996t on it
I have an old (not vintage) 1989 MIJ Striker ST600 and many of your gripes match mine. It sounds like they decided that all the quirks were what made it vintage; the Floyd Rose, pickups and pots are all garbage and the body is plywood. I can't even give it away so I've dubbed it "The Albatros." I've since graduated up to a Fender American Standard Strat made of solid ash and IIRC I actually paid less than I did for the Kramer.
@@WickedFesterBand I got my Striker in the mail today. It’s going back tomorrow, as I’ve bought tons of guitars and I’ve never had one show up so un setup as this one. Totally disappointed, starting with Floyd rose so uneven you wouldn’t believe it. The fret wires were sharp as hell, and the pickups were touching the strings. Get a Jackson, you’ll be happier unless setting guitars up is your jam.
@@dennislydon-dt4mq Sorry to hear that but as per my video, I basically rebuilt the one I have. It wasn’t a good guitar until I put another $200 into it.
i think most of the people don't know how to calibrate a floyd rose ,i have a guitar w/ FR special for more than 10 years and never goes out of tune and i use it a lot
Spark amp. I believe it’s their Klon into a Marshall with some delay and reverb. I think there is an EQ pedal in there too to brighten up the Sparks inherent darkness. The Spark has so many sounds. Dude! Just clicked your link. Wondered where you went. Subbed the new channel!
Yes I tried taking off the control knobs and yes they pulled out lol knobs are on way to snug needed pliers to get off so needless to say I replaced pots that is a first for me
On my Harley Benton HSS I put Guitar fetish sounds 10 times better but I don’t wanna have to put in the same in that Kramer that I just bought but I really don’t like ceramic pick ups
Shit can the pot metal one's they won't stay in tune or hold the strings well. I went with stainless steel that I bought from Amazon for 35 bucks. Work fantastic.
Finally found my EVH and Kramer guru. Bought my last two Kramers at GC, because they sound so dang good. So new to the experience.
Killer sound and awesome video !
I like how you show the tweaks you did and the different sound you’re getting .

If they had medium jumbo grey this would be a winner.

That's a cool guitar that sounds great with the mods you did without spending a bundle more.
Neck is meaty but some like that. More Les Paul than Strat.
@@WickedFesterBand I find I can adjust to different neck thicknesses but tend to prefer not too thick.

Well that’s good to know. lol I got is so I pretty much like it now. Just wish it had bigger frets is all.
Just ordered one, putting in a Frank humbucker and tone ninja tuners. I see you have a Saint Augustine hat on I live about 28 miles away.
I live about 1200 miles away but love it there! lol

That part is consistent. lol Pots are cheap and can be a big upgrade.
Would you sell me that humbucker pickup? I bought my first hobby guitar (Ibanez gio) and would like to attempt my first pickup swap.

whats FR? thanks.
