It feels like the game is a wrapper for all these marketplace/blockchain shenanigans - the game feels like a very low priority, it doesn't matter about the economy or anything else if the underlying product is bad.

i say just look how long star citizen took to get where it is today (still a pre alpha lmao), then you know what you are in for with Star Atlas xD
before you will be able to fly a ship it will be a minimum of two years and until the first landing on a planetary body another two or three.
oh, that is if the developer is still around by then xD

Star Atlas focus: Crypto>Game so basically people funded the game with their crypto token without actually any game development at all. A showroom demo on UE5 says nothing. I hope it's not a scam, but yeah.

It's a scam, watch the other pre-alpha gameplay videos that obviously have their comments section off for damage control. For a pre alpha it's already really really bad.

There is no game play yet, this is a pre-alpha first step release, just a ship viewer.
Game play will come with later releases
@@philwashere7273 yes it will take likely two or so years until you will be able to actually fly something and some more years for planetary landing with the most basic gameplay attached to it.
i think star citizen is a good example for how long this stuff can take.
@@th3orist There will be a flight module added to the showroom maybe later this year but proper game play in UE5 will probably be more like 3-4 years away. Its early days...

Star atlas really missing the point of what makes a good game it needs tangible gameplay and seasoned devs to reassure us that investing in buying the game is worth it
It sounds like they are just theory crafting forever and making money from it

probably won't have gameplay for at least another two years, its all just tech presentation.

Super unimpressive tbh. Hand full of unfinished assets in a hanger we have already seen. They are trying to wow people with unreal engine and a few menus. Crazy...

This is all just good feeling talk. There's a whole lot of wishful thinking and tall tales, but not a lot of actual expertise and real explanation. This seems way too ambitious because it is. Creating your own government is not only controversial, but just the idea of it attracts the eyes of a lot of country destroying powerful people that want more power. The game is alright, but is similar to a project I did in high school at the moment, just with better art. Star Atlas sells a whole lot of hopium and promises SO much, then underdelivers in the form of fancy 3d renders.
Even if this project was legit, it would be a highly irresponsible and poorly managed one that ignores so many variables just because of this whole decentralization. I'm just not seeing this as the future. It might be a really awesome game, but all these promises make me think this little company has gotten in over their heads, or their really good at just sounding brilliant

Looking at pre alpha in engine gameplay feels like, this game is going to destroy "greedy c!g's" "St@r c!t!zen" game.
as many issues as I have with CIG..... that fcking Fimble ship they showed is 1775 USDC a.k.a 1775 USD... Not even CIG is greedy enough to ask almost $2000 for a small 38 meter long ship. Unfortunately I don't think this game'll take off if they don't ditch and burn every single link they have to the crypto world
