I have about completed my very first sculptural piece and my friends think I am pretty talented. What I haven't told them is I follow your work, attempt to emulate your techniques, resolve to understand what I am doing in order to sense better what I am doing. This I owe to you. TY so much. (Bows).
Thank you for showing us your art. It never ceases to amaze me what some people with skill, the eye for it and I'm sure many classes can bring to us. Being able to create this or whatever you choose simply WOW's me every single time.
It's purely to dissolve the upper layer of the sculpey. To ease out unevenness and to give that extra smoothness and sheen. Because its alcohol, it dries quickly too. So no messy and mushy sludge like other solvents.
I can never imagine how not to make any mistakes with marble!!.. there's no undo's no redo's..once set in stone .. it's pretty much it... no oops . I bow to those great masters!
I am curious as the purpose of Denatured alcohol used to subdue the wrinkles, does it have other effects? such as drying? I really enjoyed Watching you work.
I have never try Fimo before :/ . Yes I do cast my work. Most of them are anatomical figures for studies and reference. If you are keen you can check them out at D-Anatomystore,com . :)
since sculpey is a type of polymer clay, it's a little oil based and water will not dissolve it. I am using denatured alcohol 95%. I got mine from a pharmacy, essentialy it's a type of rubbing alcohol for disinfection. By the way for this sculpt, I am using super sculpey firm. However I no longer use this clay for my work any more.
The hulk has skin that is basically indestructible. it isnt human skin so there goes that argument. I would say modelling his skin after giant mammals like that would make sense since he becomes a giant monster that kind of even has characteristics similar to large mammals
when it is done, I will bake it in an oven to hardened or I will boil it in a pot of water. As it's a type of oilbased polymer clay it will not dissolve in water. Hope this helps. Super Sculpey Firm is the name of clay I am using in this video.
Laurie Garrison For this sculpt, it's sculpted with SuperSculpey. I had it hardened by boiling it. Because it's a type of polymer oil clay, it will not desolve in water. Once it's hardened, I made a mold and made cast out of it. I used Resin for that. Hope my explanation helps ?
Hi PJ You are welcome, I get this fuzzy warm feeling reading your comment.. .. :). Do keep watching, I have this new clay called NONAMECLAY and it's awesome. Unlike sculpey it does not dry up, it does not require an oven, and it can be re-use again and again. I'll do some videos with this clay. If you would like to find out more , it's available at w w w d-anatomystore c o m
Ah ok thank you. I've never even thought of looking for it there. I'm using mineral oil to smooth super sculpie for fine detail. Does denatured alcohol have any specific advantages?
i want the serrated loop tools, but i´m from Yucatán México and i paid mine 42 days ago and i never received them. i´m thinking d-anatomystore is a fraud

i can watch you work for hours, truly amazing...thank you for showing this... :)
it's called a wire loop tool with rake edge. It's great to rake away uneven surfaces.

Thank you very much for your reply. I want to get started with Sculpey modeling and your videos are tons of help! You have all my respect.

I can never imagine how not to make any mistakes with marble!!.. there's no undo's no redo's..once set in stone .. it's pretty much it... no oops . I bow to those great masters!
Perfect music very impressive work!
Me encanto!! No se si hablas español pero tu Hulk pareciera que Don Francisco de sábado gigante fuera el que se transformara en ves de Baner
you are amazing friend !!! congratulations
Very nice technique on the wrinkles.
Magnificent work! Which hardness of clay do you use?
I am curious as the purpose of Denatured alcohol used to subdue the wrinkles, does it have other effects? such as drying? I really enjoyed Watching you work.
oh my god this looks great, love the expression of rage
Nvm I just read through all the comments....amazing work. Wish I had classes near me to learn how to sculpt half this good.
I admire your work.
hi! you are incredible!
what is the purpose of the use of alcohol?
Great job...What kind of clay is that?
Hello, i was wondering if you could tell me how you hardened this sculpture? And what material is it made out of? Thanks and i love your work!
Before Boiling. Anything after boiling will be very hard to modify. It will be as hard as rock. :).
The sculpture, great. The music, sounds like someone is farting through seriously tight pants.
heheheh...
Two questions.... Is boiling better than baking? If so, why? And what are you using to smooth the wrinkles?
boiling is more even avoid burning on thin areas..smoothing is alcohol
With boiling, would the polymer fully cure? Or do you put it in a pressure cooker to superheat it?
what's that liquid u used? some sort of alchohol thing? awesome work btw
I tend to use fimo, and seeing you work like this in sculpey makes me think i should shift to sculpey. do you cast any of your works?
I am using super sculpey firm. So it's harder then the usual super sculpey
Thanks. Im guessing you have to order this online?
boiling it will hardened the clay thoroughly.
Thank you, it was amazing! Cool music picked
You don't lose any detail after you harden the clay?
I have never try Fimo before :/ . Yes I do cast my work. Most of them are anatomical figures for studies and reference. If you are keen you can check them out at D-Anatomystore,com . :)
Trabalho magnífico, Parabéns
Can you send a link of all the loop tools you use I'm interested in upgrading my set.
Thank you !!!!
@FrenzyandLazerbeak It is super sculpey FIRM
Sorry it´s true my friend, strong skin like the rinho good point of view.
So after applying the alcohol how malleable is the sculpey clay?
since sculpey is a type of polymer clay, it's a little oil based and water will not dissolve it. I am using denatured alcohol 95%. I got mine from a pharmacy, essentialy it's a type of rubbing alcohol for disinfection.

😮
Are the wrinkles made after boiling?
Bellissimo... Come posso fare per comprarlo? Grazie
thank you. you can get it from www.d-anatomystore.com
So this is super sculpey clay?
Do you just re upload the same videos like once a week?
beautiful
Thank you julian!
Thank you so much for that kind word :)
What type of clay are you using and what do you use to cover it so it doesn't dry out?
do you have just one light source?
Was it just water?
The hulk has skin that is basically indestructible. it isnt human skin so there goes that argument. I would say modelling his skin after giant mammals like that would make sense since he becomes a giant monster that kind of even has characteristics similar to large mammals
muy imprecionante

what tool did you use to smooth the piece?
Thankyou Julian :)
you are most welcome :)
Hi Victor
I am using a a combination of a Nylon Based Shaping Brush and a Wire End Loop Tool. You can get them from the link in the description above.
Thanks!
you put it in the kiln before you sell, right?
just asking not to be stupid

Sad that music destroys an artist work.
Did the professor play music while teaching sculpting?
you are most welcome :)

Hi Gianluca
It;'s super sculpey firm.
nice...
Once a reporter asked Joseph Estrada if he was an asthmatic, he replied " No I am a Catholic".... : /
what is the stuff that you are applying with the brush ?
It's glue dude... :)
it's denatured alcohol actually. It's to dissolve away small pieces of clay and also to smooth out the surface.
Julian Khor Where do you get denatured alcohol? Hardware store?
thebbeenn from most pharmacy
Ah ok thank you. I've never even thought of looking for it there. I'm using mineral oil to smooth super sculpie for fine detail. Does denatured alcohol have any specific advantages?
