Tony Banks of Genesis said in an interview once that the keyboards (piano, organ, mellotron, ARP 2600, ARP Soloist, etc.) he used in the early to mid-1970s were the kind you used almost 100% of, but with modern synths you're lucky if you use as much as 5% of what they can do.

I can't help but having a tiny grin on my face when I see one of my old hero's is using the same mixer as me, and is raving about the Xpander, plus has an Andromeda as close as possible to where he's sitting... I'll never have his studio, and I have learned the hard way it's not about the gear but FAR MORE about putting in the hours, but yeah, I'm still kind of grinning because I feel exactly the same way about those pieces of gear, having spent countless many hours with them... Great video ! thx guys ! :)

  • @DonSolaris

I like the fact that Paul never ages. :) Totally agree on the gear piling - have exactly the same problem and know exactly what he is talking about - ironically i'm in exactly the same process of hiding most of it into storage.
