I first found your channel about a year ago after more than a decade of drawing and I can’t thank you enough, man. You’ve completely changed the game for me and put me onto a whole new level I never thought I’d be capable of. Any chance I get I share your channel with anyone who tells me “dude I wish I could draw like that”. Because of you I’m able to visualize my drawings in a 3D space and to finally wrap my head around how it’s affected by the lighting. Thank you so much! I’m so looking forward to finally having your books!
I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I just want to give tremendous props to you for educating and introducing me to pen and ink as an art form. The transfer of a gradient world into binary black and white using texturing is fascinating, and inspires me to keep drawing. Cheers!
@@alphonsodunn :D I know you say to doodle in them and take notes....I'm gonna do that but on a notebook :D :D they are too much...too good for that :D I worked a looooot today BIG HUG. I'm really happy .
Hey Alphonso, I just bought your book couple weeks ago. I'm a rookie and my main interest is in using pencils. Still, of all the art channels on youtube, yours helped me the most. Thank you for all that you do bro, you are a super teacher. Hope one day you can maybe produce a book on pencil drawing. But thank you so much man appreciate you
so good, its good that you give us what we need to run with and understand the subject ourselves instead of teaching us your strict vision of what's right, you're a great teacher
Hey Alphonso bought a copy of your book but I live in Belize and I need to wait till my relatives send box to Belize. Thank you for the announcement on shading much appreciated
Thank you, Alphonso, for another great video. I observe in all your videos, it seems you draw from the wrist/fingers using the tripod grip. Do you ever draw from the shoulder and/or use other grips (overhand, underhand, holding pen/pencil near the top, etc.)?
Thanks for sharing this nice tutorial and I learned about textures. ☺️💕👍🏻 Hello 👋🏻 I’m your newest follower.☺️👍🏻 God bless and please keep safe always.🙏🏻
I can't thank you enough bro! I'll start by buying your books. It feels like someone is teaching me magic tricks on paper. You've made drawing so approachable. Gratitude my friend!
You da man, except pen and ink makes me nervous, can't fix most mistakes. We still plan to buy all of your books, we're both retired and never seem to have the extra money
Are you going to make your book available as an ebook on the kindle store as well? I'd really love to buy it but I'm in a tiny student flat so I don't buy paperback versions of books.
Thanks, super useful like always and does goes perfectly with the book (which I love, cant wait for the third one). My struggle is with shading right the single element of the pattern. like in the top cube "crates" this is where things goes wrong for me.. textures that do not require that like hair (the middle cube) are much more easier for me.. Is there a better trick for that or just - think about the light source and practice more??
@@alphonsodunn well, for example the cube with the crater like pattern (its the top one of the 3 cubes in this video). So a single crater needs to be shaded from the inside and the outside.

Dear Alphonso, This is Tony. There is an instructional video, Drawing Quickly and Effectively by Mike Lin. After you watch this video you will laugh and laugh and laugh. You knew this video had to exist.

You have this teaching talent. If the explanation is clear and easy to understand, that means that you are listening to a real pro
I don't know why, but I love how you leave a drawing utensil laying on the desk and then pick it up in the beginning. Favorite UA-cam intro tbh
