I have to disagree. I like Terry Stafford's version. As an Elvis fan I would normally defer exclusively to Elvis' song but I do love the musical arrangement of Stafford's song and the haunting sound of his backup singers. I think he did a pretty okay imitation of Elvis also.
I heard Terry Stafford's version first, without knowing as UA-cam automatically started in a hidden frame. I thought I didn't know the song (not very familiar with Elvis), and thought I heard some amateur cover. Only with the chorus I got interested, because I thought "this guy (Stafford) got talent". Even with Elvis compared, I think and agree that Stafford owns the song - as it occurs: where the saying is true - Stafford does own the song. In my opinion, he wrote it for another person, though. I wouldn't say Stafford's version is the best one. It is less crooning. However, me, I would never name Elvis crooner. This comparison shows how artful Elvis knows to sing. That's what people rightfully admire. Cheers! Thanks for your debatable comment!

Beautiful music from darling kind Elvis- Great song lyrics and the melody allows Elvis to show his vocal range and ability to convey emotions ❤😂
I remember the Terry Stafford version, was a big hit.
Elvis was a genius...
Thank you for the clip. Elvis did the original and best version of this song, Stafford doesn't even come close.
You got that right 😊

Well, ofc, us Elvis fans would say that, but Terry’s version was the “Hit” single and in today’s world, most people wouldn’t even know it!!! 😊

My favorite Elvis song out of hundreds of favorites. How can his recording be from March 1962 and WHBQ have an acetate in 1961?
It was a mistake on my part, the source where I got it from said 1961 but it is from 1962 😅
in south america listened spain version. that was better without string
