A Tale of Two Peppermills: Reno & Las Vegas

- Join us on an adventure that spans two resort cities in Nevada: Reno and Las Vegas. We begin with a full tour of the Peppermill Reno, a beautiful resort that had its origins as a coffee shop half a century ago. We'll do a room tour, pool tour, have dinner at Biscotti's, and take a turn through the casino. And then, we head back home to Las Vegas, and a visit to that OTHER Peppermill, the one on Las Vegas Blvd! We'll do drinks and appetizers in the fabulous and historic Fireside Lounge - it's like stepping into a movie.

If you are ever driving thru Wendover NV there is a Peppermill Casino there also. Nice place.
Yes, we know about that - and we would love to! Hoping someday we can take our little vlog on the road, and tour a whole lot of rural Nevada.
@@paulamckenzie I visited their three casinos (Peppermill, Rainbow, and Montego Bay) there in September of last year. The three casinos combined are close to, but not quite, the experience you get at their Reno resort. However, their Wendover casinos have a great players club.

"Wonderful people" and "Everybody is super-nice" doesn't just apply to the employees of the two Peppermills, but it is also a perfect description of the great hosts of this channel, Paula and Dale. Paula, you are too young to retire, as you are full of life and energy! (says the guy who couldn't wait to retire at the age of 65 😄). I usually stay at the Western Village in Sparks, NV (another sister Peppermill Property) when I go to the Reno area. Always visit the main Peppermill while I'm there, of course. Peppermill employees are among the best in the business. The Peppermill Reno is a top-notch property, and everyone needs to visit!

We are staying at Western Village, with our two rescue dogs, next week. Would definitely prefer GSR or Peppermill, complimentary stays but Western Village is a nice, reasonable alternative when you have pets. We always visit all the casinos around Reno/Sparks area when we visit.. Restaurants at WV are very nice, too
@@amymyselfi7085 What I like about WV is that the hotel is in a separate building, so you don't have to wade through a casino to get to your car. And I'm sure that makes it handy when you have pets as well.

As a kid we used to go to the buffet at the Peppermill in reno grew up in Northern Nevada although now we call Yerington NV home
I love how many of you are familiar with the Peppermill in Reno - so glad we featured it. And Yerington is a great place to call home!
We stay at the Peppermill at least once a month. 4 hours over and back make it a quick 3 day trip. We don’t drink or gamble but we just love the resort as a get away.
Sign up as a “frequent flyer” and you will get flyers every month for the “ FREE Rooms”. With that we pay about $50 a night for a Tuscany Suite. We really don’t care for LV so looks we will keep our monthly trip to Reno in check.
I was disappointed not seeing anything about the LV Peppermills rooms.
My husband and I retired a year ago. My hubs just took a Golf Pro teaching position. We get to go far and wide hitting golf courses.
Being retired with a few bucks is Heaven ! Thanks for the great video ♥️
The Las Vegas Peppermill is just a restaurant and lounge. They don't have a casino or hotel in Vegas.

I retired last December. At 75 it was time to spend time with grandchildren and family. I am loving life and enjoying my bride of 55 years. I loved this video and was impressed with the Pepper Mill. The economy will return as Jimmy Carter put us in the same problems. Ronald Reagan brought us out of a recession and I believe it will follow suit. Thank you for your videos as they are well done and captures the memories of years past.

Peppermill in Reno is spectacular
Totally agree! I have stayed there on business before, but never viewed it through the camera lens...it IS spectacular. And I was with colleagues, so I didn't even have a chance to go to the Fireside Lounge up there!

We suspect that most of our viewers will never get there - we love it, and have visited many many times (pre-vlogging days). We keep meaning to go up there together, and vlog the entire area...a lot to see and do.

I’ve never thought about going to Reno before but I wouldn’t mind staying at the Peppermill. It looks beautiful. I’m surprised with all the successes in Reno they haven’t built a hotel/casinos in Vegas. You guys are great, love your channel ❤️🎰🎲
Thank you Nancy, that's so nice of you to say! 🥰 My theory is that the Peppermill folks didn't want to jump into the tank with all the sharks here in Vegas. They are very successful with the Reno property, and a few smaller places in rural Nevada.

You should go lots of stuff to see we stayed at the legends right next to the circus circus, The Peppermill has lots of bars has lots of games plenty room for everybody
I have stayed twice at the Peppermill in Reno The rooms with a whirl pool also have a steam shower which is amazing.

Well well! Congratulations with your retirement decision. I wondered when you announced your retirement. With everything on the increase see about next year. And, I had no idea about the hotel in Reno....thank you. However, many is the time that I have known the Peppermill in Vegas. Oh, if the lounge could talk. The one thing that has not changed in all these years. I wish we lived closer!
Oh me too - imagine the conversations we could have!! I had to read this out loud to Dale, especially "Oh, if the lounge could talk"! Still going to meet up in December, aren't we?
We always stay at the Peppermill when in Reno. Love the Cafe there! And when Vegas, always go at least one for a late dinner.

I love the Reno Peppermill, have stayed many times at Tuscany Towers. One of my favorite films "Hard Eight" was filmed there.

Dale I am not sure how this video got into my feed but I was very excited to see it. I worked at the Peppermill for a few years and had a great impression of the establishment and the owners. Their reputation is stellar. Yes, the Peppermill is a great place to work.
Your narrated tour of the’Mill’ was accurate and very detailed. Great job!
If I could add anything it would be this; the photos and videos you mentioned are from all over the world. Not a single one is purchased. They are each unique and carefully orchestrated by Joe Ness who handles this department. He works directly for Bill P. A few seconds of video captured in Africa has taken weeks of planning and a crew of 5-6. I could only estimate the amount it cost for all that.

I try to visit the Reno area annually because I love skiing in Tahoe. I enjoy the Peppermill for its decor and vibrancy. If I recall, some nice gift shops, too.
Peppermilll also owns Western Village in Sparks (next door to Reno) and I try to visit there when I'm in the area. Western Village is a great place for low rolling (I don't think they even have a high limits room), and it has a nice sportsbook. But the reason I like to visit there is for a meal at their 24 hour coffee shop, Cafe Bellini. Try the green chile chicken soup!
When we visit the area, we never find ourselves in Sparks - but we do read good things about Western Village. If we do there, Dale LOVES green chile soup - we will definitely look for it. 😊

We just stayed there but on the other side and our patio was off the pool. We LOVE the Tuscany tower rooms! I love the video screens everywhere. Great job covering it!

There is also a Peppermills coffee shop in Daly City California years ago. We used to go there after work. It looks exactly like the one in Las
Vegas. I have stay in Peppermills in Reno before. What a lovely place. They also have this amazing buffet.

We stay everytime we go to reno at peppermill in Tuscany tower in the sienna suite we are going next year in June and then down to Vegas to stay at southpoint in 1 bedroom suite we love it. Thank you so much for great video.

I never knew... Now I’m adding Reno to my bucket list. We luv the Peppermill diner in Vegas😻👍. The Nicholas Cage movie, The Trust was also filmed there. I recommend the Cats slot machine by the door. I won 125$ on my last visit. Thanks for the great video🌟🎉

Hello Mrs Paula and Mr Dale I hope all is well I had to come on to see what my buddies latest adventure in Las Vegas is. I was at the Mirage hotel last week when that tragedy happened inside the hotel I literally was standing on the casino floor when it went on Lock down and surrounded by police but Mrs Paula I must say I'm so proud the way the Mirage hotel and Las Vegas police handled the situation, it was an isolated incident though tragic none the less. I felt safe and would come back again
Yes, what happened last week at Mirage was a personal tragedy, having nothing to do with the Mirage, or Las Vegas...but we are really happy to hear that you, a guest, felt that it was handled well! 😊
Great video, I really enjoyed it as well as the fun facts. The Peppermill also had a Fireside lounge/coffee shop across from Buchanan Air field in Concord, CA, but unfortunately they closed that location. My coworkers and I would go there after work in the evenings for a few cocktails. I really miss that place.
There’s a fireside lounge in the peppermill in reno too! It looks exactly the same as Vegas still.
They also own west lake village in sparks/reno it’s a casino reastraunt just like the peppermill & a small motor hotel type as well.
Yep, we knew both of those tidbits. I was with a couple of colleagues on that trip, so I wasn't able to slip away and check out the Fireside Lounge at Peppermill Reno (too bad too, I really would have loved to see it).

I just hope reno never remodels it like they did the peppermill restraunt I really don’t like the new remodel and now it’s called Malano cafe. I was at peppermill reno in June and last week for han (hot august night’s)! I go to Vegas often too have a timeshare there I’m over due for a trip! Love your guys channel!🥰

This sounds like a lot of fun! I love the Peppermill in Las Vegas! I've driven by Reno, but never stopped to explore the downtown. Wow...nice looking place from humble beginnings! Beautiful room that Tuscany King Suite! The pool are looks fabulous. The casino floor looks like a lot of fun. "Home Means Nevada." I kind of agree with that. The Las Vegas Peppermill is just so cool. The Fireside Lounge is so 70s - 80ish. I just love it. Tough decision, but I know Paula knows best.
Another spot that the four of us need to experience - let's grab a red couch in the way back and pretend we're with Frank and Dean...

Been to the Peppermill once in Vegas - but it really is a great place! The one in Reno looks absolutely amazing! Dale & Paula - pulling the trigger on retirement is VERY difficult. It's been 11 months for me - I know I made the right decision, but with the markets - it is very concerning. If you're at the very least content with where you work - it's probably a good choice to continue working for a year or so when we're on the other side when we will be in recovery.
Yes, Jay, your thinking is very similar to ours...we are concerned with the crazy unchecked rate of inflation...not a good time to go on a fixed income!

Surprisingly, it was a relief to both of us! I had worries, Dale had worries, and once we got it out in the open, we came to the conclusion that there is no magic about retiring right this minute...I don't have to, there's no urgency. Once we realized that, we were good with just keeping the status quo. 😊
I've always wanted to eat or have a drink at the Peppermill on the Strip but never got around to it. That will change on my next visit, thanks to you two!

Just to recap, there is also a Fireside Lounge in the Reno Peppermill as well. Fun fact, the owner, Bill Paganetti still walks the casino floor all of the time. He dresses very casually in jeans and a sweatshirt. Super nice guy.

Yes, Reno is a very different vibe from Las Vegas - much smaller, much more outdoor recreation oriented (with Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevadas). We thought most of you out there would never get to Reno, so why not show you something from there?

The PM is my home away from home. I know that Dale would love all the no smoking VP bars including the sports bar and the sports book. There are six of them. No problem getting a nice G&T. Great video!
Oh sigh, I missed ya! I agree, I think Dale would love the place, and I'd love to stay for a long weekend and just enjoy all it has to offer. In the past, the two of us have stayed at Grand Sierra, but I may have changed my mind...

I love Reno! There were times in the past where we came close to moving there, but it never worked out for one reason or another.
A great video! Unique and very colorful. Paula's video work is really wonderful here. There's nothing nice about a cold in heat. I had one in Vegas in July when it was 110 outside. It was terrible. The air con doesn't help getting over it. Thanks for sharing and take care. And you're right, it's probably not the best time to retire.

The Peppermill in Reno is fantastic. Our room was just like the one shown in your video, but outside our railing was the pool. I think I would prefer your garden and fountain view. Also had great luck in the casino.

the Peppermill has a "sister " called the western village in Sparks ( 25 or so min away) it's like a mini version and super super nice, the let pets stay too

Yes, they do, as well as a couple of properties in Wendover. But, we basically focused on the two that we personally visited. 😊

I love that you showed both of the Peppermills and the history of each. Been to the one in Vegas several times where my cousin recently retired as bar manager. FYI THE Rainbow casino in downtown Henderson was recently bought by the owner of Emerald Island also in downtown Henderson. I also liked that you mentioned that they are run by families instead of corporations. Not too many of those left.
Right, that's why we thought it was worth mentioning! No, we did not know about the sale of the Rainbow, thanks for that info.
I've been to the Emerald Isle casino in Henderson. Great local penny-slot casino! They really try hard to take care of their clientele. Plus, they're restaurant has pretty good food with very reasonable prices. We always try to stop at Chef Fleming's Bakeshop just down the street whenever we go to the Emerald Isle casino. Chef Fleming's Bakeshop has AMAZING pastries. YUM!

Great video! I enjoyed seeing the Peppermill in Reno. I went there in the 1980's, so it's fun to see what has been added since. I'm surprised the location in Las Vegas has not put up a multi-story hotel.
You know, maybe they decided not to jump into this particular shark tank lol...they have other properties in a suburb of Reno, and in rural Nevada, and they are very successful.

We assume that most of our viewers won't visit Reno, but we liked the tie-in with the Vegas property, and we thought pairing the two would make for interesting viewing. Looks like it did! 😉
