FEUD: Bette and Joan, the first installment of the new FX anthology series from Ryan Murphy, tells the story of the legendary rivalry between Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) during their collaboration on the Academy Award®-nominated thriller What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, and well after the cameras stopped rolling. The series explores how the two women endured ageism, sexism, and misogyny while struggling to hang on to success and fame in the twilight of their careers.
In addition to Academy Award winners Lange and Sarandon, the cast includes Alfred Molina as the film’s director Robert Aldrich, Stanley Tucci as studio titan Jack Warner, Judy Davis as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper, Jackie Hoffman as Crawford’s housekeeper Mamacita, and Alison Wright as Aldrich’s assistant Pauline.
Notable guest stars include Dominic Burgess as Crawford and Davis’ co-star Victor Buono, Catherine Zeta-Jones as film star Olivia de Havilland, Sarah Paulson as Geraldine Page, Kathy Bates as Joan Blondell and Kiernan Shipka as B.D., Bette Davis’ daughter.
FEUD: Bette and Joan is created by Ryan Murphy and Jaffe Cohen & Michael Zam. Ryan Murphy serves as Executive Producer along with Executive Producers Dede Gardner of Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, Tim Minear and Alexis Martin Woodall. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

The way Lange spoke in this interview, it was as though she didn't want to break character and thus continued to sound like Crawford.
She deserves another Emmy or Golden Globe for this role, I mean she killed this role and so effortlessly!
Comparing her normal interview voice with this one, I think she was still kinda in character!
I think Joan would approve.
Jessica Lange is so great, it's downright scary!

Note about Lange's performance in this film: she didn't impersonate or mimic. She acted the part with voice, facial and body gestures. She did what Crawford did to project herself but with her body. I was impressed she chose not to caricature Crawford. She also did not copy Dunaway. Dunaway employed a different intensity for Crawford.
I love Jessica Lange, Dino Delaurentiis made a good decision when he casted her to play Gwen in the 1977 version of King Kong. Since then she won two oscars. I met her in person during the filming Crimes in the Heart in Southport, NC. We just shared a big smile, I had no words to say to a great actress. I am very sure they all get tired hearing fans saying you are my favorite actress , I seen all of your movies, all I said to Ms Lange was Have a great day Ms Lange, and we shared a smile, she was holding one of her kids.
How could any actress not know much about Joan Crawford much less admit it?

I think both Lange and Sarandon out performed themselves in every way possible; they both deserve awards for portraying such screne legends in a very iconic way....they both portrayed the actresses characteristics to a tee and also added their own 'stank' when the time was right......

I think both Lange and Sarandon emerced themselves so well into their characters that they were both to a point of no return.......they both did amazing jobs of portraying the true characters of both Joan Crawford and Bette Davis....they both deserve an award.
After my many viewings of Joan Crawford movies and interviews I think she got her down to a T. She looks very similar to her and she has her personality and mannerisms down.

I love how she took this on and did a completely opposite interpretation than Faye Dunaway.
I love her she is the best actress of all time she gives her heart and her soul to each role that she plays I especially love her in American Horror Story and the movie hush she is so good even when she plays an mean or evil character you just can't hate...
