Chinese Diesel Heater In A VW Beetle

- I bought a 1970 VW Beetle and ratted it out. After removing the factory heating and figuring I'd just freeze in the winter, I was told about "Chinese Diesel Heaters" and after much experimenting, I came up with this system. It's 5kw and it works great with the help of some pvc pipe, and some 3" ducting from Lowe's . Here is a link to the heater. It says 2KW but it's actually 5. www.amazon.com...
And the controller www.ebay.com/i... And the fuel tank www.amazon.com...
Hi Randall! Love your channel, just found and subscribed! But I noticed the link you have to the heater goes to a 3KW heater that does not look like the one you are using, the amazon link goes to a plastic cased heater. Can't seem to find one with an aluminum case.
That's really weird. That is not what I posted a link to. I'll try to find another one to link to.

@@randall1959 Thanks!
@@athenry I don't know why they changed the listing.
I just saw these diesel heaters an thougt this might work for the bettle but you already thought of it ten months ago
I have since removed the pvc defroster ducting. It was deforming. Defrosters aren't a big deal where I live anyway. I just scrape the inside with a credit card and use ice melting windshield washer fluid on the outside.
Do you think a 6V VW beetle could power one of these heaters?
It has to be 12 volts to work.
The only thing you might do is to get a lawn mower battery to run the heater from. They use the most power at startup but once it gets going the glow plug shuts off and it doesn't use much power after that. If you're only going to use it for short periods of time that might be one option. Just get a maintainer and keep it plugged in when not in use or even use a solar panel to charge the battery.
@@randall1959 thanks for ideas! I really appreciate it.
@@travismunden8250 You're welcome. There are 6 to 12 volt inverters but they don't have enough amperage to run the glow plug so a lawn mower battery would be a viable option. You can get deep cycle lawn mower batteries and if you go this route that's what I would suggest because they're more able to handle charging and discharging.
