Soph, this injury is probably circa April/May, 2021 so you are into your 3rd or 4th month of mending and rehabilitation of movement. 10 years ago I had a similar injury playing rugby (in August), a spiral fracture of the fibula and a separation from the ankle bone of the fib requiring screwing. The fracture was mended in 3 weeks and the 'screwing' portion probably a few weeks more, but I was in plaster for 3 months. As the injury was from an ankle rotation all the ligaments in my ankle were 'blown'. As soon as I was out of plaster I started walking (in agony) 3 nights per week after work along the reasonably level ridge line of East Banora, and after another month I started walking the hills down to the Tweed River and back up, by Boxing Day I was playing touch rugby every Wednesday night, and by early March I had my first full contact rugby game after the injury. I tell you all this as your ligaments are likely still in pretty good shape, and its only the lack of movement while in plaster that is going to make them feel weak, which you will overcome very quickly; just don't overdo the normalcy of ambulatory action as you get more confident, such as taking that long stride that you have as you step onto Nakama, or the dock, where your weakened ankle is going to take the weight, e.g. instead, let your good ankle have the weight burden as you push off in the stride. Having said all that, when you feel that you are approaching parity of strength start concentrating on evenness in your ambulatory movement, i.e concentrate on NOT favouring your injured ankle which will otherwise by then have become habitual. You are more than half my age, so provided that you remain smart about your rehab you shouldn't necessarily be dependent on a physio, and will be up and running, literally, in no time. Good luck.
Hi , hope you work out a good plan. We have just sailed back from Lady Musgrave and it was worth the trip and are trucked up in at Pan Cake and working out our next move hope you keep traveling and passing you exams. Drugs are good but not too many and he looks like he is enjoying needling you far too much.
Oh nice! sounds so good, definitely envious of you. Hopefully not too long until we can get to Musgrave! Yes definitely, the heavy painkillers were to get through the first couple of days post op, we're off them now don't worry. Yes Slim has been having way too much fun stabbing me with needles... hahaha
That was the funniest and saddest videos ever but gee we did laugh!! You two are hilarious. It was great meeting you and we just hope your recovery is 100% perfect. 😅⛵⚓
I always snack on dry pasta. Don’t know why but I like it. Soph I’ve had many leg casts and I know your pain and discomfort. They suck. Hopefully you don’t need it but for next time, I found a metal ruler really helps to scratch and get rocks out of the foot
When times are hard. It's always good to keep your sense of humor. And of course find you a Slim. You deserve more than a pizza. I am so glad you were able. To get a ABNB. Was Chili with you ? Pamper yourselves and keep up that studying. Hugs from Texas 😎
Hey yeah we were super fortunate to have the air bnb for a few nights. Unfortunately little Chilli wasn't with use there but she was stationed as guard aboard Nakama. Air bnb was a short walk up the shore so slim was there a few times a day to feed and check on her between studies
Hey you two well done what a week! I’m on my sail boat at Southport, weather has been glorious! Have to smith to some motor sailing though… no where did I get that from…. Take care Tats
Where was the Cat when you were at the Air B&B or was she there with you. Do the screws stay in for ever or do they remove them down the track Excellent videos now my favorite sailing one They always seem to give you cheese sandwiches after operations that's what I got the last few times
Chilli was guard of the boat, but Slim was there all through the days from early morning so she was fed and nurtured. We would never forget about our little fluffy darling, unfortunately just wasn't able to get her into the Airbnb. They screws are staying in for good, fortunately don't need to have another surgery. We are so glad you are enjoying the videos. And for the cheese sandwich hahha, how funny is that, maybe it's good to settle the tummy or something, I was very appreciative of it nevertheless. Cheers for your comment Hekta
Hang in there kiddo, you are so blessed to have such a great man in your life. Praying for a speedy recovery💗💗💗. I am still in moonboot, had procedure to remove part of fish fin from my birdie 🖕finger.😂😂😂it just gets better.💗💖❤️🌈
Thanks Kristine! Yes very lucky to have a Slim, matter of fact he's in the galley right now cooking up a storm 🥰 oh no, hope your doing well too! 💖 let's keep exchanging postive vibes, together, we've got this!
Thanks for the update on your condition Soph. You poor thing. One plus though, if you ever have a screw loose you can probably get it fixed. Not so for most of us. Slim, don't worry about your maths. You'll get to learn lawyer maths, where they can get 15 x 5minute billable phone calls in an hour lol. I always look forward to your videos and your positivity. Take care my friends.
Hahah thanks! I broke my ankle skateboarding, not sure if you saw the previous episode before this one, but it all goes down there. Unfortunately didnt catch the stack on camera but yeah😊
Damn you don't do things by halves . Good luck on the healing process , at least you'll have plenty of study time for awhile . But fuck do yourself a favour and leave the skateboards alone in future ;)
You guys crack me up.. Love all your vids hope you have a speedy recovery Soph. Lucky you have a Slim in your life.
Thanks John. Appreciate it mate haha and glad you enjoy the shinanigans. And yeah slim's alright 😉

It doesn't matter how you present that stuff, it looks painful. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Mmmm yes was pretty uncomfortable, we are on the mend now though, that's the worst of it over (hopefully)
