    Try to anchor the bottom of the track in the front so the track can not turn and the dozer will pull itself out by walking in the the track. I hope you understand how this works.

    This is how I was weaned. Dad was a dozer hand & I went where he went. Drove my first D-6 when I was 8. Across a flooded Bitter Creek in Grady Co. Oklahoma. Dad drove the picup. 1963 I think. I wouldn't trade those day's for gold. I was as safe as if I was in my mother's arm's. When I started school I was a year ahead of the other kid's but I didn't know it. A good way to raise a boy.

    Absolutely love the old yellow iron!! My grandpa was a equipment operator for many years and that is the kind he ran. An old D7 like that can do as much work as today's D8 or D9. It's a shame they don't make equipment like that anymore.

    Dude how about you get your kids outta the damn way! Better yet don't bring them to do something dangerous like that. ( Yes it's dangerous because if those cables snap under pressure they can cut a man straight in half! Not to mention they were running around while the red truck was trying to back up.)

      That was my thoughts as well, it's dangerous enough for the guy in the dozer but to have the kids that close is a bad idea. I've seen what busted cables and chains can do and it is absolute carnage.

    Shorts, mini van, sneakers, little kids. Are you guys pros or weekenders. Met a logger here log rolled off truck killed his 8 year old. I rented my D7G last year to guy he let kid at controls he was sitting next to him by blade lever. He fell of was in coma 3 weeks hospital 3 months, now crippled for life. I heard today a guy 25 miles from me was decapitated today with a loader. It's ok to train kids just be very careful.

    • @evjone
      @evjone  3 роки тому +6

      I would say it comes down to identifying the dangerous parts.
      I don't say accidents cant happen, but after 30 years of living with machines, you tend to know the dangerous parts and take measures.
      Someone does not just fall out of a machine and under the tires or tracks, you have failed in numerous places to get to that point.
      You don't let kids drive machines if you are not 100% sure you have control of the situation.
      If its flat terrain, closed cab, in low gear at idle speed, I see no problems letting a kid try to operate a dozer or loader if I'm sitting next to him.
      As said before, if you have 10s of thousands of hours of operating equipment you know how the machine and operator will react to certain inputs and situations. You can therefore take countermeasures before danger comes to play.
      But again, accidents do happen, and they always will. And life would be pretty boring if we should walk around with helmets afraid of being hit by a meteorite.
