I’m such a fan of Govee, they really make quality stuff and price them well and put Philips and LIFX to shame. Didn’t even have a place thought out for this rope light but still bought it hehe
😂😅😅 indeed. I have LIFX and hue and I agree when it’s a new govee product you just got to go for it especially if it’s reasonably priced. You will find somewhere to put it ahahah. Govee definitely changed the smart light game for the better 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Same! I started with Philips HUE, switched to WiZ, then moved to Hubspace (which I still use because our Locks are in that app); but everything inside the house is slowly getting replaced with Govee! The quality is amazing, and the apps are super intuitive.
btw to anyone out there, if you make a group there are like extra “scenes” you can use which are all that i use and are the best in my opinion. I love the purple-y meditate one
My friend thank you for the review and for all your helpful replies in the comments! In my room I have similar hexagons/acoustic panels to yours, but with a small gap between them. So now I would like to mount the rope light on these gaps, running in-between the hexagons. Could you please tell me if the rope will be tightly bent on the corners of the hexagons (around 120 degrees bending)? Also, in one of your comments you said that the width of the rope is 3/8 of an inch. Just to make sure, would that be 0.95cm (1in = 2.54cm)? If so, the mounting brackets' width should be larger. In Amazon the official Govee brackets say that they are 0.5in (1.27cm). Can you confirm? I guess if I want a tight fit I would have to buy extra mounting clips and place them near the corners of the hexagon (one on each side of every corner)... I don't think that the included 10 or 12 will be enough for the 10ft (3m) version of the rope light... Sorry for all the questions!
That’s def dope, now I’m thinking of patterns to make if I decide to get one. I giant 🌊 wave or on your wall panels to the left if u did an outline with the light rope but I’m not sure how flexible the rope can bend. Great video will!
Man this light is dope af. I love that you can be creative when setting it up in patterns and can even change it on the fly. I wish I would’ve got the 10ft or 16ft for more possibles of design. Oh saying should mounted it on my hexagon panels? Yeah that would be dope! It’s SUPER FLEXIBLE so can literally bend it in any position.
The app I use is called dynamic wallpaper engine and can be found in the App Store. I think it cost a few bucks but totally worth it. There are tons of options to choose from
Thanks for the video! I’m looking to get these light and you answered a lot of my questions. I agree. They need to add a speed option to their effects. I have the Govee Lyra and I love the colors from the scenes but they cycle way too fast.
Definitely!! I found out that one of there newer lights “govee glide music” has the feature. So hopefully they do a firmware update or at least moving forward give all their lights the ability to adjust scene modes speed
I’m upgrading my gaming setup and have loved govee since I started my setup in 2020 rough year but I made a dope setup and brought out a lot of creativity I didn’t think I had until I was stuck in the house all day every day
Its called In The Clouds 4k I got it from wall paper engine to make it as a screen saver but it 's available on youtube here: ua-cam.com/video/m0SrRChoIkw/v-deo.html
Hey, how do you select all colors and just make the lights fade from one color to another? It seems like a lot of job to select all of the colors and then add them to segments. I like when colors just switch softly from one to another and using all the colors available to the device.
The easiest way to do this is to choose a sea mode that changes colors and leave it on that. If not, you can create a DIY mode. There are a bunch of scene modes and there is one that does in RGB cycle
This light is RGBIC. What you’re looking for is RGBICWW. I have not came across one with independent controllable segments and dedicated warm whites and cool whites. But I will say this light replicates warm and cool whites well. Even thought it doesn’t have a dedicated white chip it still goods great in my opinion
What level of brightness do you have it set on? With mine in person and in video you can not see any of the individual LEDs so it’s possible something is off. Try reaching out to support
Something seems off. Even at 5% I can’t see individual LEDs. It’s designed to eliminate that problem🤦🏽♂️ Hit up Govee and swap it out. It’s gotta be something off about that
Go to system preferences > Displays > right click the wallpaper area and select extended display. Hopefully that’s it? Back to system preference screen > desktop and screen saver… Let me know if you need more assistance.
I’ve seen a few setups where they did mount them on the art 3D wall panels so it’ll definitely work. Just got to keep in mind the panels have a lot of curves so you’ll have to be a little strategic on setting it on the wall. Will work though.
Yes you would need to create a group in the app. for example I have one called desk and I can make all those lights in that group the same colors or themes or I can control them individually
I'd love to get one for each of my two daughters bedrooms. Can I configure them, so that each of their ipads will only only control one light? Eg they operate independently with no interface? Thanks and great video.
Yes, you can easily do this by creating two different accounts and connecting each light to the account that you want to manipulate the lights. This will make sure they operate independently, and each iPad will not be able to affect the other unit. These operate with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Everything needed to get these working comes with it. Just need a Bluetooth device to change the controls

I swear I replied to this sorry 3 months later, but hopefully this could be of some use. Under the shelves, I am using LIFX lights. They are great because the size is 1 meter per LED strip, and you can buy extension cables to connect them to each other. This was the easiest solution for the sizes of the shelves, or I'd have to cut and solder them. Govee neon rope is so good love that you can design it in so many different ways. Probably one of my favorite LED lights due to customization, and all of the modes.

@@WilliamNevius Yeah I saw🥹. Thank you! Yeah man I want to step up my video game lol my stream mic isn’t cutting it. And things look a lot better with no mic in frame.
This might be interesting to add to my Govee tv lights. I read a while ago you can get other lights by Govee synched with one camera. Is that possible for this one?
Still not possible but I think govee is working on it. They now have a music sync box you can connect up to 7 device to act as one. I also notice they finally added groups on the app. If you group all your lights you can select scenes and music modes to effect your group of lights. Hope this helps
@@WilliamNevius a while ago I saw this video about beta functionality which looked promising, thought it might have made it as actual functionality by now ua-cam.com/video/qmiIWCi9t88/v-deo.html. Just checked the app... It's called Dreamview now under command. Only have one device so can't check if that could do the magic
I was hyped when I got here to try out the feature to sync all lights to to the immersion kits. I have H6049 (light bars) and H6198 (Immersion kit) In the app it says it is supported and I know I need the latest firmware...Says "The device of current version cannot be set as a sync center" Tried to update and no new firmware versions found! Did all that and did not work with either model. It shows support for Dream view and the LED light strip plus light bars which are newer models so maybe it works with those. Seems like it is still buggie from watching a video.
@@WilliamNevius that's a shame. In the comments of the video I sent I think someone said that if the firmware version isn't correct you could contact Govee. Someone got sent a newer control box which did support... Worth a shot!
In the setup process when connecting to the app there is a section. But you can also find it in the settings of the rope light in the shape reference menu

@@1800BrokenSoul Where can you find the 32 foot length? I've looked everywhere, and 16.4 is the longest I've seen

I’ll check it when I get home and follow up with you here
I was hyped when I got here to try out the feature to sync all lights to to the immersion kits.
Reminds me of a bendable nano leaf. Dope video per usual!
Thank you Nicx 🤗 I didn’t know nano leaf had something like that. Gotta look into it now 😏
@@WilliamNevius lol no they don’t! I’m saying it’s like a Nanoleaf but bendable 🤣
@@thelifeofnicx oh yup yup exactly that!! Lol
Is it possible to connect multiple together, like 5 for example? Or would you have to individually plug in all 5 separately?
You would need to plug in all 5 into power. You can not connect them together or cut. They come in one size and that’s all you get.
@@WilliamNevius Thanks. Damn that's a major con for me.
@@wulfW well they have 3 sizes 16 footer , 10 foot and 6 foot. I have they 6 foot one. How long do you need it to be lol
In the same boat.. I need 38 feet perimeter to go around the entire room ceiling.. Longer lengths would be nice
Where are the recommended shapes?
In the setup process when connecting to the app there is a section. But you can also find it in the settings of the rope light in the shape reference menu
