I have made an additional series of videos on my channel on how to open the radio and repair the cassette mech. The problem is that shortly after making the video the replacement part is no longer made. I hope to source some NOS parts some day.
Very cool video. I have a Porsche 944 turbo. Its option numbers on the VIN sticker call for the Reno SQR 46 radio. Any ideas where I can buy one for not too much money? Thanks.
Hi Francis, if you are in the US, you can try craigslist or maybe PCA. Ebay will have the most options, but I see that the prices there are extremely 'opportunistic'. I don't know what your definition of 'not too much money' is - I would argue that a good condition Reno is worth around $500 - no more.
Hello - great video. I have the original unit in a vintage 1988 911 that since purchased brand new has never left the family, all original. I never knew about the front/rear fade and tried optimizing my sound but somehow got the unit into a weird searching mode -- and now no audio being outputted through the speakers even when I take my FM transmitter/bluetooth adapter out, so the plain radio is not producing any audio. Any suggestions on how to reset the unit or get it out of this weird mode it's in right now? Appreciate any help thanks!
I am in the process of installing an old Reno SQR 46. Thanks for the user guide. Where did you purchase the OEM connector plugs for power and speakers? The car I am installing into has had the OEM plugs cut out of it. Thanks
You can get both the connector and 2-pin DIN speaker connectors on Ebay (eg: www.ebay.com/itm/Blaupunkt-Power-Plug-1980s-Radios-Reno-Lexington-SQR-46-47-48-Porsche-911-928-/153030150137?hash=item23a14ec7f9 and www.ebay.com/itm/4-Speaker-Plug-Wire-Becker-Blaupunkt-1980s-Radio-Mercedes-BMW-Porsche-Ferrari/153030148219?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D50544%26meid%3D57c93ae99102447695d9426086f04ef6%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D153030152290%26itm%3D153030148219&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851)
Hi very informative video presentation Olaf. I am looking for this Reno for my Porsche 1987 911. Any idea where I can purchase one. Also is there an amp for this radio Thanks
Hello Olaf, I found two small pieces running free in my Reno casing. Since then, auto reverse is always kicking and cassette is ejected after a few retry. I can’t find where these pieces where. I don’t know where to start... thanks.
I am sure that technically there must be a way - but it is way beyond my electronic skills :-). I guess the only question is how this gets implemented by Blaupunkt - would it be a case of swapping out an oscillator, or is this controlled by one of their custom/bespoke IC's (in which it would be truly impossible)
Millennials. A cassette tape is what was used prior to CD and post 8 track. lol. I wore out my Bon Jovi and Prince type out on my Sherwood. I couldn't afford a Kenwood, or Alpine and certainly not a Blaupunkt. I enjoy now this same system in my 1988 Porsche 928 S4.,
Thank you for making this video. Very difficult to find information on these old units.
Very nice video. I have a Blaupunkt Nashville SQR48. Some interesting features on the Reno, and yes it was installed in 928's.
How do you go about removing the cassette mechanism to troubleshoot? My tape deck keeps playing the tape back and forth before ejecting it.

Great video. Is there a way to change the illumination from orange to green?

@@olafwagner Do you by any chance have an updated source for these connectors? I cannot seem to find them anywhere now. Cheers!

were you able to resolve your issue Julien?
Is there any way to switch the FM frequency steps to european specs (100kHz steps)?

Hi. I just bought a used Blaupunkt RENO SQR46, and I need the connectors. Do you know where I can order them from? Thanks very much.
Back in the day I ordered it online (at Crutchfield I believe), but I see these are available on Ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/295830710820
can you help me fix mine
