    Another way to bypass without the extra line selectors or loop switches would be to put the pedal into tuner mode by push/holding the Footswitch (assuming it's not set to tap tempo) with the tuner in bypass mode.

    it is to possible to create a preset with neutral effect like flat EQ and bounce it between delay preset & reverb effects? For example, I wish to create : clean section (reverb preset)---> rhythm section (neutral preset) ---> lead section (delay preset) -->rhythm section (neutral preset).

    • @PedalExperiments

      Yes, you could absolutely set it up to do that. However, if you needed to go instantly from one to another without having to cycle back around to the preset you started with, you'd have to copy the same presets and arrange them in the order you'd need them.

    How should I choose between the MS 70 and the MS 50?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому

      Well, the main differences are that the MS-50G is mono in, stereo out, and has a while bunch of boost, drive, distortion, and fuzz effects in it, while the MS-70CDR is stereo in and out, and focuses mostly on just the filter, modulation, and time-based effects.
      Personally, I think the 70CDR is the one to get, as the drive models in the 50G aren't that good and just clog up the DSP.

    I want to run this as a noise gate that's always on, but from time to time I want a phaser or an ambience preset on top of the noise gate. These must be freely switched between in a live setting. How do I set that up?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  4 роки тому +4

      What you'd have to do is, create every patch you'll need with the noise gate at the front.
      So, have one patch with just a noise gate. Then a second patch with, say a noise gate -> phaser. Then a third patch with a noise gate -> delay -> hall reverb -> hall reverb, or whatever you want for your ambience.
      Then assign each preset an A, B and C in the memory list, in roughly the order you think you'll need them, and then you can cycle through the 3 presets, each one having the same noise gate.
      It's the only way to effectively have an "always on" pedal within the MultiStomp.
      Hope that helps?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому

      Hey! Thanks for watching. 🙂
      Sure thing! So every bypass loop pedal has regular 'input' and 'output' jacks, but then there are also 'send' and 'return' jacks that connect to the pedal you want to isolate from the rest of your signal chain, with the 'send' going to the Zoom's input jack, and the 'return' going to the Zoom's output jack.
      The Boss LS-2 Line Selector has two of these loops, so there are two sets of 'send' and 'return' jacks, but you obviously only need to use one of them to connect the MultiStomp, leaving the other loop free for another pedal if you want to run other effects alongside the ones in the Zoom.
      The main 'input' and 'output' jacks of the LS-2 are just used normally like any other pedal.
      I hope that clears things up for you?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому

      You can run it before the amp, or in the effects loop, but not both.
      It's an incredible pedal, but it does still have limits.
      Personally, I use my amp clean so thy effects loop isn't needed. But sure, if you use gain from your amp, you'd have to decide whereabouts in your chain the MultiStomp would be best served...

  • @rickyandtherebels2802
    @rickyandtherebels2802 5 років тому +3

    ... an alternate to this idea is just to simply setup a patch in the MS-70 as a 'Bypass' and make it 'C' in your chain. You can just cycle through the effects when you want to bypass. It is a couple more 'clicks' of the pedal - but would save you from patching in another line selector pedal. Just a thought. Also, if your only using the MS-70 for a single effect (say the rotary), you can simply turn it on/off with the MS-70. Using the 'list feature', there are only 26 slots available. When I make my songlist for my band, I go through the list and assign effects (ie. for A = slapback delay, 1st song, B = Big Reverb, 2nd song, etc. etc.). The only problem I find with this approach, is that you really have to stick to your 'effect per song' plan - otherwise, you'll end-up cycling through the list during the set, if you lose your place.

    I've had no issue w/ 'tone suck'; if you run it through your amplifiers effects loop (if mainly using it for the time-based effects and reverbs), it sounds awesome. I would not recommend using it in front of the amp, though (for reverbs, delays anyway) - then, obviously you may feel it effects your tone.

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  5 років тому +2

      Good point! I hadn't considered that might be part of the issue. I always run my amps clean so I go through the front end with my whole board. But if you're using the amp's gain channel then there definitely could be issues.

      It depends what your requirements are, really.
      They both have their advantages, but my personal favourite is the 70CDR, as I don't need the amp/cab sims, I use other pedals for my drive sounds, and I need the stereo inputs, whereas the 50G only has a mono input.
      If you want it to be more focused on modulation/filter/ambient/weird effects, then I'd go with the 70CDR. If you prefer to have a little bit of everything, get the 50G. 👍

      @clbazar 4 роки тому +3

      So if you Google Zoom MS 70 Hack or Hack-Preset Editor, you’ll find a 3rd party app for Mac & PC that will allow you to load basically any Zoom pedal preset with corresponding fx into your Zoom MS pedal. So that means amp/cab sims from the 50, as well as bass fx from the 60. There are a couple of UA-cam videos about it as well. If you’re planning on doing that, I’d invest in the 70 because it has more memory and the stereo ins and outs.
      That same editor can enable you to dump effects you’re more interested in using to free the space for the additional effects you are interested in.

    Hey great video. I have heard you can't get MS70's effects' tails when changing presets, so I guess you will also lose the tail when changing to a "bypass" saved preset. So I was wondering, If you use an AB looper pedal with 2 switches (so you can maintain both loops opened or close just one) if you maintain the B loop on with the "out" cable of the MS70 connected to the "return" input of the same loop while you connect the "send" output of the A loop to the "in" input of the MS70 and can you use this A channel to close or open your guitar's signal to the Zoom while maintaining these tails?
    Said in a more simple way, if you use the "send" output of one of the loop pedal's channels and the "return" input of the other (maintaining it always on), could you get those reverb or delay tails when bypassing the effect? In my head this should work, because the signal keeps always returning in a channel, while you can decide with the other channel's switch when the signal goes out to the Zoom or not, but what do you think?
    Thank you!

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  4 роки тому +1

      Wow, you've put some thought into this! It's a good idea in theory. I'm really not sure if it would or not, though...
      If I have the signal feeding through the same MultiStomp twice, with nothing isolating/silencing one of the signal paths, it usually makes an ungodly, ear-piercingly loud squeal. So I'm suspicious that a similar thing would happen with your plan.
      That said, it's worth a shot! Give it a try and please let me know if you find out the answer. 😀👍

    • @playker
      @playker 4 роки тому +4

      @@PedalExperiments I don't think the signal will feed the MS twice because it will go in through one channel that will be turned off if I want to bypass the effect, and it will go out of the MS through the second channel which will be always on. I made a quick schematic with Paint: imgur.com/1CAVwkW The signal coming from the guitar to the MS70 will cut off when the A channel gets turned off, but the signal coming out from the MS70 (the tail of the effect in this case) will keep coming trough the B channel and return to the main line.
      I don't know, I might be missing something, but in my head, it works.
      Anyway, I will try it, just ordered a 3 channel loop pedal from Aliexpress (there wasn't any with 2 channels and 2 switches, so I had to go with 3 channels and 3 switches even I will only use 2 of them), so I hope to remember to tell you if it works in about a month or so when I receive the order.

      Great job on this channel, btw. Please keep it up as I feel that the Zoom MultiStomp series is criminally underrated and underused.
      Also, re: the tone suck issue, I’m the farthest thing from a “golden ears” type, but I do feel that the pedal somewhat colors the tone - when it’s engaged, anyway. I run a BBE Sonic Stomp after it and it’s amazing how much of the “presence” of your signal the Sonic Stomp returns to your tone. It’s just a fantastic pedal on any board and I put one on every board I build. Once you A/B it, you’ll never want to turn it off. At least that’s been my experience and I’ve watched the reactions of other guitarists and theirs tend to be much the same. Plus the BBE SS comes in a mini pedal, and now I usually install it underneath my board to save space.
      Ok yeah, sorry about that last bit of infomercial - again, great channel!

    Great video, thanks. These tips I was also using together with Theodor's bypass method. I ve got another question. The order of the max presets to be used "in a row" is limited to the number of Latin Alphabet. I prepared 34 patches and I had to eliminate some of them. Any hack for this situation?:)

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  3 роки тому +1

      Excellent question. Honestly, I have no idea about that. I've never assigned the full alphabet to my presets before!
      I think I've only gotten up to the letter 'L'. Ha ha!
      I often wondered what would happen if you needed to "favourite" more than 26 of your presets, but I didn't think it would just cut you off at 'Z'. That's a bit annoying.
      I don't have a hack for that, I'm afraid. If you use that many presets in a single show, it might be wise to just get a second MultiStomp?

    The zoom multistomp is clearly in dire need of a modern upgrade… It’s really cool what you can do with it in such a tight enclosure, but man, the UI is so outdated. Plus I’ve heard it might do well with either a better buffer or true bypass switching… Still, it’s a cool pedal, with great sounds.

      Definitely. It still holds its own, but sorely needs a V2.

    Thank you, this vid and your How to make your own presets vid have been a huge help! I know every amp is different, and I have several. In my Boogie it has a nice fx loop, and the old amps don't have a loop. So in Boogie loop the delays you may have made in a preset it sounds exactly as you make them, but into front of amp it sounds like a 3yr old got at it and messed up your settings. So short of only running this pedal into the fx loop amps only and any other pedals like overdrive into front of amp. I have to make totally different patches that work only in amps with no fx loop. Ha, make sense?

      Ha! Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Running your amp completely clean and getting drive/distortion from pedals is the only way to get around that, I'm afraid.
      I'm jealous of your amp, though. I used to have Mk5.25 head and it was spectacular.
      Thanks for the kind words! Glad you found the videos useful. 👍

      @@PedalExperiments Ya, I've run into this before, I have several old amps like a Marshall Bass and Fenders and Traynors, they don't like new technolgy so much ha. I've had a few Boogies over last 30 years, now I have this Express 5:50 which is a beautiful amp.

      Great stuff!
      I've been through loads of amps, trying to find one that I like the clean tone of. The Mesa was easily the winner after trying out loads of Marshalls, Fenders and Vox. However I ended up selling it because I just couldn't justify having such an expensive and versatile amp for only one sound for a pedal platform.
      I recently got myself a Katana Artist and it's absolutely magnificent! All the clarity and versatility I ever wanted, but without the hefty price tag hanging over me. Ha ha!

      You can find most of the patches that I have, in the Megathreads over on the r/zoommultistomp subreddit.
      There are some really awesome patches over there! Definitely recommend checking it out. 👍

    Check out the Ninjafox Wingman Facebook page for a 3D printed, clip-on Left/Right cursor pedal attachment which allows switching on/off individual effects in a chain and gets rid of any need to mod the pedal
