- A video of the Tidal Surge that hit our coastline on Friday 13th January 2017. Luckily there was a westerly wind, if there had been a North/Easterly wind things would have been much worse
Great video of my home town coastline, me and my lad's love to fish off the pier when we get up to sunderland, it's the best clip iv'e seen on here where the weather and sea are at their worst, Thanks for posting Mrs Doyle.
+Rob Smith Glad you enjoyed it Rob, we are very lucky coz we have a beautiful coastline. The pier at Roker is one of the Northeast's best fishing marks, it's just a shame it isn't shown the respect it deserves by slot of folks.
Take care, Joan 🙂
Outstanding footage folks, well done.
Great video, the sea is such a beautiful but dangerous thing
Yes it's beautiful but scary
Great video mesmerising well done 👍🏻🙂
Indeed! I'd love to witness this in the moment. All that energy & the sound of it all😇
Just found this video. Fabulous, watching the power of the sea is mesmerising.
Just a normal summers day in Sunland. Surprisingly no-one swimming at roker or fishing on the pier gates must be locked
well taken vid Joan, right place right time.
Brilliant. Thank you.
Hope the fishing is going well Mrs Doyle
Some tremendous footage and great views of the wave action
Safe filming positions too
Respect
Really beautiful 🤩
This absolutely spellbinding to me.
Used with worse up here in Shetland
Awesome that. I live in Sunderland but never seen it as rough as that. Beautiful
When it's a Spring tide & the wind blows from the East, some amazing site's to be seen
Ohhhh boy I love rough sea ,me and my friends went on a dance to France 🇫🇷 in a force 9/10 gale was blowing the ship was up and down, my friend was seasick i just loved it ❤
Awe no I love watching it but I don't have sea legs lol
Scary but beautiful!
Back in the 70s when I went to Fulwell girls school I used to ge the bus down there and the waves used to be over the road past the roundabout right near Seaburn hotel
Maravilhoso esse vídeo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The "watta" seems to be a bit more civilised just down the coast here in Hartlepool.
Used to love gan down Hendon beach on stormy days. Me and me mates used to play some crazy games with rough sea. Dint knar how am not here and me and mates had some close calls. Unfortunately I lost me dog Shep down there in 80s during a storm. Found his body on Seaham beach 2 days later covered in crabs. I was only a kid and Shep was me best mate. I cried for weeks and ended up very depressed. RIP Shep lad, CYa again one day am sure.
Forget your surf-board? LOL!
Yeah, it was windy as fuck in South Shields too!
It was freezing yesterday, why were you out?
I like that you recorded at various places!
Thanx for this video! :)
+steve punk lol! Cheers Steve
Great scary footage! I wonder what's the feeling of falling in there. Must really suck. A frightening cold and violent death.
I'd never have guessed there were people in those cars. For me those were unfortunate empty parked cars that had been caught by the bad weather and their owners weren't able to come forward and drive them away from that nightmare of a place.
No people were in watching the awesomeness of the sea, didn't fancy my car getting covered in salt water 🌊 tho, stayed well back 😁
Stuwid STUWID what line is that
Now i understand why they close the pier gates to fisherman!!! Not a chance when one of those waves comes over the top.
I seen 8t a lot worse when waves are smashing the pier and you can't see the light house because the waves are higher
power of the sea is not to be messed with .
Such beautiful shorelines - amazing they build stuff so close to the sea. Seems so dangerous to me. In the section titled Hendon they have a huge storage tank or silo so close to potential danger its amazing its still there. I can't imagine this would be allowed now.
Lesley6227 loser
@alison webster Wow ur cool loser
That was so cool
David Robinson glad you enjoyed it 😃
On a nice day can you walk out to that lighthouse? Does Sunderland experience very high tidal changes compared to the rest of the UK?
Geoff Breen, yes you can.
No that not the tide it's a easterly wind
Great footage
Good Stuff!!!!
Always like this in the winter month down Seaburn. Lovely to watch but wouldn't be that fucking close
that was canny good like
Where is the place? I want to visit when it winter time
If you look at the title it’s Sunderland
Just put blue pop and cheesey chips into your satnav....joking SR6
The North Sea can be very wild I see. Great filming though. I feel like I'm right there.
Dumb people for getting there car's in that salt water.😬😠👿😈
Eejits need to realise a cubic metre of water weighs a metric tonne and that's before it starts moving.
Who is the idiot with the dog on a leash? Animal endangerment!!
+paul broderick I know right
Ok bthis is the north Atlantic?? Just as impressive as the Pacific 🌉🌎🌍💖🌹
The North Sea we are in the North East of England
5.12 to 5.35. Awesome
I was there for the whole day, couldn't leave. Damn we need this again!
