Tip for air control - brakes to drop the nose, throttle to raise it. It's more effective with 4wd but you still have some air control with 2wd. With 4wd you can steer the front wheels to roll it side to side and pull whips and stuff. It takes a lot of practice to do it well but it's super fun if you have a perfectly sized jump to session and just try stuff
It's good too see Jamie hanging out the clouds so you don't get sunburn, that lad does everything behind the scenes, gives his all, almost carries the channel 😂

Hey Matt, im an RC enthusiast. Honestly, not much you can do to make that slash better, changing the gearing (bigger pinion gear) could get you a bit more speed but that motor is pretty much maxed out already with a 2s Lipo battery. In my opinion, if you like the slash, get yourself a 4wd slash VXL. It can take a 3s lipo battery, is easily 2x as fast, and handles much, much better. Happy Sending!
I am an RC car enthusiast and you can upgrade the motor to a brushless and ESC because then you will be able to go like 40+ mph depending on how much money you want to spend and then you can get a large variety of battery's you can run and also convert it to 4 wheel drive instead of 2 and that will also make it faster.
@@thevoid59 if he gets a talbot spec x maxx I don't think he will destroy it as fast as kev does with his I'd like to see him visit places like this or even hardline with his rc bashers
You can add airtime steeze by pitching the car's nose up and down while in the air through acceleration (up) and braking/reverse (down) - you can actually make a car flap up and down and up again while coasting through the air, given enough height 😅 Though, it works best with larger, heavy wheels for obvious reasons. With this car, it would probably be rudimentary pitch control. I used to do that a lot with my two stroke nitro monster truck using large tyres. It has no reverse but a proper disc brake at the tranny. Was fun. 😊
I havent messed with RC in 20 years, but they are quite similar to a MTB regarding upgrades. Low end RC are like a big box store bike, through to High end like a factory tuned downhill bike. Best way to get more speed is to see if yours can use a better motor along with beefier battery pack. I'm sure theres an RC shop near you that can guide you. might even make a good video.
Matt I have seen a few vids of RC Dirt bikes on YT recently and they are actually really cool. Real suspension, disk breaks, chain drive. Internal giro means you can pull insane wheelies and get huge air with them. They even make one with proper Fox riding kit 😆💯 would love to see you rip the playground/compound with one 🔥🔥
I've also seen people controlling the pitch (front/rear balance) of RC cars in the air, I believe by changing the throttle direction. I'd love to see Matt have a go at that, he's got the perfect place to practice! Edit: From the internet "If your chassis is nose high off a jump, the correction is to simply tap the brake to bring the nose down. If your chassis is nosing down, hit the throttle to bring the nose up".
youre treating the throttle like an on/off button, which is why it spins out. accelerate gradually to keep it straight. for more speed you can get a brushless motor + speed control kit, which will also allow for more granular throttle control. a bigger battery will be faster but harder to control due to you being a beginner and added weight
Rc upgrades are easy! But you're still gonna struggle being rwd only. You could convert it to 4wd for a lot more control. Then you can upgrade motor, controller and battery. But at this point, the amount of upgrading you may as well go get a better 4wd truck. 👌🏻 Loads on the market at the moment at a fair price. Also, I think you need to invite Kevin Talbot and his friends for an RC session. 😉💯🔥🤟🏻
Simple drop in kit for the RC would be the traxxas vxl brushless kit. Which is a brushless motor and speed control. Some stickier tires would also help as the stock are fairly hard. 👍🏻
The speed controller in that car can take 11.1 volts, so get yourself a 3S battery, it’ll make enough difference to get the car over ALL of the jumps at the Playground. Next time you get a car (or if anyone wants to send you one) make sure it’s 4WD, can take at the very least 3S and has a brushless motor.
Yees! Mtb and RC are my 2 favorites! You can either change you're pinion and or spur gear. You can get a high "C" rated battery, or more cells if you're esc can handle it. Love the channel! Cheers!
Hi Matt, to achieve a higher top speed from your rc car you need to purchase a new motor and esc ( electronic speed controller) and new battery to accompany this new setup. For recommendations wise you need a brushless motor and esc combo I suggest a hobby wing max 10 combo , and also purchase any type of 2S Lipo battery to accompany this . Do keep in mind the car is rear wheel drive so going super powerful will make it very uncontrollable. Would be awesome if you read this , just giving some advice to your question !
You guys may not have been able to hit all the jumps like you wanted, but just remember: All of these RC car jump attempts looked more promising than any of Matt’s fakie attempts 👀😂😂😂 lol jk

You're welcome! 😎
For the rc car I would suggest buying clips which clip to the suspension and stiffen the shocks which may improve speed but stop it bottoming out and breaking aswell
Hi Matt, loved this vid as I am into RC cars and biking, this vid made me fanticise about using my traxxas maxx, a car capable of backflips and frontflips at your playground, plyground and compund, that would be soo sick.
you should get the Traxxas hoss! it would be perfect for the playground. also if you want a higher top speed on the car you have, you have to change out the old brushed motor and replace it with a brushless one. You can go to a local hobby shop and i'm sure they will have a brushless motor and they will help you install it!
To increase the top speed of your RC car, you should fit a bigger pinion gear, (the gear attached to the motor), this will have the same effect as increasing a chainring size
funny You asked about the rc car. I have the same car but in 4 wheel drive. To get more speed you can get a brushless motor and a bigger battery. Also the shock popping out is a common problem and to fix it the brand makes metal shocks. Always love your videos, keep it up!

Go with a brushless system get rid of that brushed setup. That and a 2 or 3s lipo youll be blown away at the difference. Then your gonna want a 4x4 slash, then just buy a brushless one from the start lol
Hi Matt you was asking on your latest UA-cam video on how to make your RC shortcourse truck go faster, your running a brushed motor, bit slow, you need to go brushless and a electronic speed controller then you will have a lot more speed, in the plyground you will struggle with traction ply and off road tires no grip
Get a brushless motor and esc (traxxas vxl3s) and if you grab some aluminium shock caps that’ll stop the shocks from blowing apart stock battery will be fine but you could also upgrade to a 2s lipo but you’d need a charger to go with that. 🤞
I don't think lack of speed is as much of an issue with the RC it's just super unstable. You'd need soft knobbies and a proper suspension because right now it has no grip and it's all over the place.
