happened to me with Allied Universal, I recruited (unfortunately and may they forgive me) 15 people
5 of which had security clearances.
the company did these things to me..
1: they never paid out on the promotion for a $2000 bonus for referring a clearance holder. so $10,000 for the 5 heads I gave them. (there was also a long dispute with the office in regards to this)
2: I was given a plaque with the wrong name on it..the plaque said Daniel...my name is Tom
3: the Allied President of National accounts kept calling me Timothy or Tim...which I guess is closer to Tom...
4:I was given a $100 starbucks gift card but no money loaded onto it...
glad I left that hell hole but now I deal with them as a contracted service for my new company and its so weird that they get my name correct now. (since i'm a paying client)

It’s a truly unique situation when you find one. I found mine when I wasn’t looking. I was just having a conversation with some folks, and one of them took an interest in me. Turned out he was a manager in a field I never tried before. Asked me if I would take a risk and try something new. He’s done everything within his power to help me transition to the new role smoothly, helped me move across the country, and even refunded any costs we had with moving. Has an open door policy, and let me take as much time as I needed when having a family emergency. Then after that let me work from home for a few weeks to get back in the rhythm. They exist, but often times you find them when you don’t need them. The boss I worked for previously was nothing but a screaming match, where nothing was ever good enough. So to switch from that to this new job, was some serious whiplash.

Never kill yourself for a job that will replace you and move on in a week. I worked with a guy that had never missed a shift, well one night he didn't show up or call so they marked him absent. After the third missed shift and not answering calls the manager was just going to terminate his employment under grounds of "abandonment of employment." Thankfully someone suggested doing a wellness check and actually going around to check on him. They found the guy dead in his apartment sitting slumped in his chair, we were told he had suffered a stroke.
The way the manager was bad-mouthing an employee, who was an amazing worker, and the callous way he was so quick to fire the guy without a single concern for his well-being became a core memory for me and a definite life lesson on how much I was willing to sacrifice for a job.
That's why I feel sorry for those shortsighted worker drones that make the same hack joke "Oh you work 40 hours a week? I remember my first part-time job." Yeah because when I'm on my deathbed, surrounded by family and friends, I'm going to think to myself "Gee I wish I spent more time at work to make the company's shareholders a larger profit."

Yep when I first started at my job I was working 15 hour shifts everyday, 6 days a week. And sometimes working those shifts made it difficult for me to get up at the time they wanted me to (they wanted me to get up at 3am or 6am after working from that time to 9 or 10pm at night) so one day one of my coworkers told me they were badmouthing me saying I was "unreliable" because I'd be 2 minutes late or so because I was so tired from the amount of work they had me doing. I said "ok" and I stopped accepting extra work and since then I've been on time. Now they need to beg people to come in on their days off to help them out. But if they'd appreciate the employees who work hard they wouldn't have to.

    • @PaladinThizz
      @PaladinThizz Рік тому +28

I never understood why people say you should spend more time at work. Why? If you're spending all your time at work what is the point? You have no time to actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. You're just a worker bee. People say "oh it'll go to your retirement" all those people are supposed to be retired. By the time I'm ready to retire prices would've gone up so high everything I've worked for would be useless. And that's assuming that you don't die before you come to retirement age. So all that time you miss out on rest, relaxation and life experiences (starting a family, vacation time, seeing the world, etc.) Just so you can make the CEO and your managers more money so they can do all those things. I mean, the CEO has enough time to start 3 families with women who don't know each other and I have no time to start one?

I'm 44 years-old and have a wife and two children aged 17 and 15 and I work 60-70 hours a week to pay the bills and yeah, my wife bitches about it and so do my kids but I don't care because I have to put food on the table. And yes this has led to many problems such as my wife cheating on me a few times and my children getting into trouble at school but I do what I have to do because my wife only works 40 hours a week so I have to pull the weight.
Honestly, I love working though and would rather be at work than be at home. The first thing I do when I get home after work is grab a few beers and then I go watch tv after eating dinner and go to sleep. Yes, my wife and I only have sex maybe once a month or two as well which sucks but I've been dating one of my female co-workers on the side and she puts out so I'm not getting blue balls or anything. My female co-worker kind of sleeps around with most of the guys at work because she likes to see everyone happy and it helps with morale.
Men have always been the providers and women have always been there to satisfy men's sexual needs so it's a fair trade.
Sometimes I think about just divorcing my wife and letting her have the kids because I don't know them anyways and they are almost on their own anyways. She likes her male friend who she sleeps with behind my back anyways and even though she tells me she would be faithful if I would spend more time around her and our kids I honestly don't care at this point. I have a nice truck to pay off and we could always sell the house and split the money and both of us could get a small place and move on with our lives.
Women just don't understand that work is life and without work you are homeless then they bitch about you not being there.

My grandpa worked for a trucking company for almost twenty years. Had gotten really sick half way through his route and said he couldn’t drive the way back. Company said it was unacceptable and forced him to drive. He made it 1/2 way back and rolled the semi. Found out in the hospital he had a infection from an earlier work accident that worked it way into the brain giving him a tumor. It took him three weeks of recovery and went back to work. Past his physical and fired anyways. Took them to court and won. After three years since, he found out from a co-worker that they were told he had a heart attack. So they were surprised he was still working. The company hasn’t been able to replace him because he did more work than his colleagues. New hires quit after their first few weeks. Sorry for the long story, tried to shorten it.

had a guy die on the job back in january during my shift...He was in maintenance and the machine crushed him while he was working on it. I was there doing chest compressions and getting the AED until the para medics arrived but not much could be done, he was gone instantly. My job canceled work for the next 2 weeks, we all attended his wake. Rest in peace Andy. It makes me sad knowing that there are people like that in management that have essentially given up their humanity for the company. I recently won a bid for the next shift supervisor position, I pray I never become like that.

I used to skip breaks and lunch for years to make sure I was far and away the most productive worker in the place! But all that got me was let go after a week of only 90+% productivity instead of my usual 135 to 140% from a slipped disc in my lower back. This struck a chord with me. I am retired now, but I worked with a guy - ironically, named John, who also worked on the dock at our manufacturing plant. He also worked well over thirty years at the company, and he ALSO worked a TON of overtime. Literally twelve hours, Monday through Friday, and minimum six or seven on Saturdays. He was a wonderful, wonderful man and he was well liked and loved. He had his entire retirement planned out, as he and I would talk all the time about it, and he was going to retire at sixty three and live in happiness, and with a VERY, VERY impressive retirement account(s). Then one Tuesday morning three years ago, right after break time he went outside to water some flowers that he always planted each spring in the area where the picnic tables were. No one noticed that he hadn't come back to his desk because the others in the area were busy and had their own duties to perform. A half hour later a truck driver came in and said someone is lying in the grass outside. It was too late. At sixty one, and two years before retirement, John dropped dead at work. Moral of the story is you never know what the future holds, so don't go crazy chasing that dollar. We were all devastated and the company let everyone go home about an hour later because it was very traumatizing for everyone. John had a very full and happy life and had his toys, took his vacations and lived life to the fullest, so at least he genuinely loved his time off. The anniversary of his passing is only a few days away, and to this day, it breaks my heart.

This shows that the best worker, the hardest worker, isn’t the one that gets noticed or promoted. It’s all about who know and who you are friends with, that’s really all that matters today. I’ve seen the laziest people move up and I’ve seen that happen more times than the person that actually works the hardest or was the “best”.

This video definitely hits home. I had been at a company over 10 years, and was in a meeting that included the owner/CEO of the company. At one point, I mentioned another employee who had been there the same length of time as me. The owner/CEO asked who I was talking about, and I had to describe the other guy, and it still didn't ring a bell. The CEO was always in the office, in a company with around 30 full time employees, and had spoken face-to-face to this other guy multiple times, and still couldn't remember his name.

They expect us to work six days a week and get salty when we want to go home on time. They refuse to grasp that production workers have families as well. I've never regretted a single minute spent with my wife and kids. Family first.

I know the feeling all to well, except NEVER making that much income, or anywhere near that much. Busting ass at shitty jobs to hopefully climb that ladder to success in life and have a comfortable retirement. Never happened, always treated like shit and a slave. Seems like all these companies motto was "if you don't like it, there's the door", I took that door many times after recognizing that job was already a dead end. Always Low pay at minimum wage or barely above that, worthless benefits IF any at all. Barely making ends meet my entire life because of corporate GREED and too many inconsiderate assholes that only think of you as a number. Now going on 70, I had to stop working a few years ago due to back problems, collecting my SS and living 50% BELOW the poverty line in a 30 year old RV because I can't afford anything else.
They say "life is what you make it". That's Total bullshit! Being the nice guy and going out of your way for everyone else for decades on end, hoping for a chance to succeed, hoping someone will see your potential and reward you for doing a great job, JUST ONCE! Never happened and I started working at 14 years old for 85 cents an hour. With our current economy and ALL the CORRUPT ASSHOLES causing it, It still feels like i'm making .85 cents an hour. LIFE SUCKS. IF I WAS AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CROSSING THE BOARDER, I WOULD BE FINANCIALLY BETTER OFF THAN BUSTING MY ASS HERE FOR DECADES.

It's sad to see how a company can overlook the significant contributions of their own employees, even when they dedicate their entire lives to their work. John's story shows us how important it is to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of individuals, even if they don't have high-profile positions. Let this video inspire us to change and acknowledge the names, stories, and impact of every employee. Rest in peace, John Sanders. Your memory will always be remembered.
