I would imagine if they used a click track that would keep the tempo matching the original recording, but this is live, and tempo and feel change with live performances. I love your insight into the music. I also love that the kids make the music their own. Fort Myers New Years Eve Celebration is a big thing and the kids have been opening for the show with 3 hour sets for the last 3 years. It is a huge deal, and I was very excited to capture them. Thanks so much for watching and for your honesty. Very much appreciated.
First, it’s great! I just wonder if it might be improved if the musical director had the kids back the tempo off just a bit (to the original bpm) to give the musicians a chance to develop a groove, if the end result might be more soulful? They feel rushed. Tommy Shaw was always looking for that swing. Regardless, a really fine performance (on an elevated stage! That’s rare in SoR World).
