Actor Jeff Daniels tells all about his hometown, Chelsea, Michigan. To learn more about Chelsea, visit the official community website at www.chelseamich.com.
I was born and raised in California. I live in Jackson, Michigan but have worked in Chelsea for almost ten years. It really is a great little nostalgic city with tons to do.
Hi Jeff, Madeleine Baier here. Thank you for mentioning Chelsea Community Hospital, when I needed surgery back in 2001, this is where I was and I got excellent care! Shout out to the doctors and staff, especially the nurse who on my second night there asked me if I wanted a back rub. Which felt >wonderful
I like Chelsea, but what I liked most about this was Jeff. I come from small town Michigan (Paw Paw) and would like to think that even if I had achieved his success, I would be drawn back home also. I have lived in a lot of places - at least 9 states, and I found things to like in all of them, but Michigan has always remained my favorite - though on occasion, when the temps dip below zero and the snow is deep, I do reminisce about San Diego and Orlando.
Thank you Jeff for doing this. Dads... All the years I would hear the radio or watch local tv commercials about Chelsea Lumber, who'd-a-thought... We'll have to drive out to Chelsea & hope to see ya in a coffee shop....
What is really cool is when Jeff does return home he is just treated as a normal person. You see him the one of the stores and it’s just like hey Jeff and he replies with your name if he knows you.
I was in Chelsea today (originally from Chesaning, MI). It was the first time in years that I've been there!! I hope I'll get the opportunity of meeting Jeff in person one day should I ever make it back down again.
Chelsea is an absolutely beautiful quintessential small town America that is still preserved in its peaceful, small town glory. Its got a nice quaint main street with a lot of good businesses and even more tons of outdoor recreational type beauty. I hope this hidden gem stays hidden and stays true to its soul. Its a beautiful place.
I am a Native Michigander born and raised in Detroit. I have moved around a lot since leaving Detroit in my mid 20's. At one point we lived in Pinckney for several years (not far from Chelsea). Always loved Chelsea. Currently in Wisconsin for work reasons. Thinking Chelsea may not be a bad place for retirement.
I lived in CHELSEA back in 1989, i worked in Chelsea Community Hospital back then....we did a road trip there a week ago ( drove from Indiana ) And visited after 31 yrs ( October 2020 ) just to see what it looks like and it brought back happy memories! I wish I can find out if some of the people that I have met 31 yrs ago are still living there..... if you folks remember a Filipino PT back in in 1989, let me know, I would love to hear from you! Specially to John O'Connor! Where are you now?
Speaking of riding bikes in town, my brother, Rick, and I used to ride our bikes ten miles into town for baseball practice then home again. Cavanaugh Lake's park with the old hand pump was a great pitstop for a drink of good water.
Too bad Back to the Roots and Las Fuentes is gone. Businesses rotate downtown, fairly often. Not in the video: Glee bakery - come and gone. Chelsea Ale House is new - try their Zingerman's cheeseboard with a Scotch Ale. Jet's barside with Tuesday night movie double features and 52 beer taps, Smokehouse 52 with the great BBQ, Pierce's pastries is closed. Potting shed, Vicotrian Inn B & B, shopping on main street, antique shop on main street. Still a great town. We live on the north side and getting ready to sell our house but will either build or buy in Chelsea. Now to just get my mom and sister to leave AZ and come here!
The turn over in downtown is rough. I am glad Smokehouse 52 & the Alehouse are around though. Both super solid. Another thing not mentioned, Chelsea doesn't get it's water from DTE! We have a stable & independent water source. Something that, after the Flint crisis, I'm very thankful for. And after a windstorm that knocked out the power for over 1M folks this week, I'm glad we have a separate power service as well.
Chelsea has also been the home of St. Louis Center, a residential facility for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, for the past 52 years. Chelsea takes care of everyone.
At the end of this short, the Train Station is shown but it's not the original which was once upon a time chained to a caboose as a prank. Theyu then built the current building.
Chelsea Avenger those are just shops and restaurants, they're nice and landmarks, but these are things he thinks stand out, and things that are unusual for a small town.
It's almost like they said, "Let's create a video that will be perfect for parody, remixing, and meme generation." Personally, I can't wait for the Gregory Brothers auto-tuned version.

The only thing between Ann Arbor and Dexter is Loch Alpine and the only thing between Detroit and Ann Arbor is ghetto, crime, traffic and the UniRoyal tire.
Most importantly, we got Jeff Daniels !!
This was wonderful to watch!! I love Jeff Daniels! Excellent Actor. I loved him on Full House the best. I still watch the show all the time. Classic.
I think he looks like Dave Coulier from Dumb & Dumber.
Just switch up the shows that you both mentioned and you will have it right! Good thing you don't ask for an autograph, you might be disappointed !
@@mikehenningsen8796 LMAO these 2 should audition for Dumb & Dumber 2 HAHA

I grew up in Chelsea!! My mom still lives there. It’s grown quite a bit since I lived there. I miss it. Maybe someday I’ll move back.
We need an update

Nice job Jeff! And Chelsea is a really nice town. My mother just moved there this last year and we've helped a bunch of folks purchase homes there.
Hello 👋 Jeff, great video. I enjoyed it. You did a great job of previewing a fine community. Keep up your great work. All the best to you. 🤗
I'm going to have to look into Chelsea for retirement. Thanks for posting this!
I love the train going through town! I live in Dearborn and I always love to travel through Chelsea whenever I go to visit my Aunt.

I used to enjoy Cleary's pub on Friday nights....dinner, drinks and live music. Yeah, buddy.
I miss that place. My grandparents lived there for many years.

There are several Facebook groups for Chelsea residents. That may be your best bet to find people in or from Chelsea. :)
@@ChelseaMichiganVideo I’ll try that! Thanks ♥️💃

Chelsea has also been the home of St. Louis Center, a residential facility for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, for the past 52 years. Chelsea takes care of everyone.
Why has no one mention it's just a stones throw from Hell, Michigan ???
At the end of this short, the Train Station is shown but it's not the original which was once upon a time chained to a caboose as a prank. Theyu then built the current building.
Thompson's? Wolverine? Polly's? Cleary's? Mule skinner? Potting shed? Twisters?
Chelsea Avenger those are just shops and restaurants, they're nice and landmarks, but these are things he thinks stand out, and things that are unusual for a small town.
Also, this video was made 9+ years ago. Two of those place are already gone while other wonderful places have come instead. It's all wonderful.

He did not talk about the winters.
That dang train always wakes me up an 1am😡
It's almost like they said, "Let's create a video that will be perfect for parody, remixing, and meme generation." Personally, I can't wait for the Gregory Brothers auto-tuned version.
