I just came from a video titled "this is why everyone hates arakune" where an arakune breaks his opponents defence and converts into a standard BnB. I dont play much blazblue central fiction so I'm trying to learn how this is different from any other character in any other fighting game. Is there something unique to arakune matchups that make him intolerable to play against?
Because of the curse, Arakune hits you he gets a combo, and then curse state, which is more than other characters get. With Curse, he gets mixup which is safe against reversals, covers every tech option / roll, and is extremely hard to block, he can go high/low /left/right. Arakune is crazy good at a mid level / intermediate level play, that's why people hate him, but at a high level of play, he just has too many weaknesses, and is very hard to play, You won't see much Arakunes in tournaments.
once the dude has curse, he's incredibly difficult to block. he summons pretty much an army of bugs that put you in perpetual blockstun and wear down your barrier (one of your important lifelines). Some of the bugs are even unblockable if you don't use barrier to block it. With all that, they create pretty much a sensory overload that makes it very easy for arakune to get in and mix/cross you up. Even if you're focusing on him, not the bugs, they take up so much of the screen that it's difficult to see him. it gets even worse if he activates a special (that costs no meter, mind you) that turns him invisible. at that point, there's almost nothing you can do to block his mix/cross-up. and, as you can see once in the video, he can turn that into a 5K damage combo (about half health for most of the cast) without using any meter. that said, it does take a lot of mastery to get him to that level.
Arakune is the definition of a snowball character, without his curse mechanic he is arguably the worst character in the game. Most characters do have cheap shit and mix but usually most of the resets either are reversable or reactable. When Arakune hits you, it's pretty much a GG unless you have burst and know exactly when to burst, if not then you probably lost the round already since you're in the blender and his mixup is near impossible to block tbh. And he's kind of annoying to play on neutral because he can play keepaway and you have to play under his terms and get the hit before he does or run away from his tools , so pretty much if you're playing someone who knows how to play arakune you cannot fuck up like at all. But all of this does come with a cost, arakune is INCREDIBLY hard to play in neutral and requires some godlike execution to pull of his stuff, and you really need to know those hard combos if you wanna play him
Mfs will really see Jin hit someone with a 20f overhead that he needs meter to convert off and then see what Rachel Carl and arakune are doing and to "yeah they are both dishonest, no big difference"

curse mechanic puts you in fucked up mixups

To make curse a little easier to understand, think of it as a tracking bullet hell game where everything is three times as fast as you.
A good Jin is so entertaining to watch.
But really boring to fight
There's nothing I love more than seeing an Arakune player get shit on. Especially with such an honest character like Jin.
Honest character!? 😂
This is blazblue honesty is a dead concept here
nothing says honest like a war criminal

@@mattsheehan3604 this is 100% true, all war criminals the lot of them
