Great review! I’ve been using the Comica Boom XD on my channel for ALL of my cocktail tutorials. I do zero post on the audio and I’m very happy. They are fantastic little mics. Highly recommended for anyone looking for compact wireless mics.
NigelBarros I would like to know how they compare on: Very low sounds Very loud sounds (do they peak/clip?) Directionality Ambient sound Signal stability on crowded WiFi bands
NigelBarros definitely sibilance - if you edit your sound in post, does light compression or eq bring out harshness? Loving the content lately - I’m building my own setup right now based (a lot) on your suggestions man!
Guess I should have read your comment first before leaving my other one lol I would love to hear the sound quality vs the Rode in a quiet environment, a noisy environment along with inside and outside. Definitely test the range difference between the two including walls which I know the Rode struggles with.
I would like to hear a quiet test vs the Rode. I could hear a slight buzz in this video. Curious to see what kind of noise both systems would make just sitting silently.
Yeah that's the review I was looking for man.. Dynamic shots oooof. I had commented about your tight shots of literally your face and you speaking.. And that whole changes with this video.. Kudos to you mate.
Looks like a decent Wireless Mic system but just got the TASCAM DR-10L which is really nice, reliable, and simple to use. With audio syncing in post it's all I really need but appreciate the heads up on this mic as well.
I really liked how you outline your review in a storytelling format. It is quite different from the other reviews i've seen and you made it as applicable as possible. I've also been living under a rock because i've never heard of comica until this review. I've heard of saramonic, rode and the others but not this one. Good review. overall i watched the entire video. That fall was epic btw I hope you're ok
One thing I don't like about my Comica CVM-WS60 Wireless Dual Lavalier Lapel Mic System is the 3.5mm mic jacks. They don't allow the mic plug to snap in and hold securely. They use a cheaper jack and I had the plug move ever so slightly and loose connection and did a 5 minute piece and found it had no audio. Arrg. I did let them know the issue. I want to tear mine apart so I can replace them with higher quality jacks. That is my biggest complaint.
I bought the boom XX after the UA-cam reviews and had it preform great one time but also had a high static issues and had a lot of cutting in and out in the last video.
were you able to get it fixed? What did Comica say was the issue? I just purchased this set and saw your comment after already buying. I’m in real estate as well so I’m interested in your thoughts
If you are using 2 Transmitter are the 2 Audio sources mixed together or are the 2 Sources panned left and right. I am asking because I am looking for a solution for Interviews where I would like to edit the Voices individually on separate tracks.
The only thing I dislike about the Saramonic Blink500 is the lack of the ability to split the two microphones into separate tracks. Does the Mono/Stereo button on the BoomX-D allow to split the microphones into separate tracks? My daughter just got a phone gimbal and we were going to get the Blink500 because it worked with the gimbal. I am concerned that the BoomX-D iPhone receiver won’t work due to the size of the receiver. The nice thing about the Rode Wireless Go is the battery life. I know the Saramonic don’t last as long, but what about the Comica? So much more information need to decide on this over the other options.
Hi Nigel, I wanted to use this for two people in the same room broadcasting on zoom using ecamm live. Ecamm works fine with the comica USB. Will this output through a USB as well from the transmitter so I can connect it to my Mac? Great clips. Thank you. I’ve learned so much from you.
Good review. The audio sounded good. I have a Comica cvm-wm100 UHF dual transmitter system and it works great. The only negative I have on that system is that it is big compared to their new Boom-XD system. I would gladly buy the new Boom-XD except I just bought the Rode Go about 10 days ago (damn it!). By the way, I tested the Rode Go system in my home office where my internet router sits and no static from the 2.4 wifi signal of the router.
Terrific video! Thanks for posting-this compelled me to pickup a set of these mics myself. I have a question, something I wondered if you encountered. While I can change the gain on the receiver, I can't seem to do so on the transmitters. While this shouldn't be a concern, I see despite lowering the gain on the receiver, the transmitters themselves seem to peak with my voice slightly elevated. Did you experience this? If so, did it affect your audio? Were you able to find anyway to adjust the levels on the transmitters/mics themselves? Thanks man. Keep up the great content!!
Awesome review! Very well done, and allot of good practical information. Also, some rad skateboarding. The skateboarding ministry there looks very well crafted. A great environment for skateboarders.
How about background noise? Your recordings are all in very quiet settings. Have you tried in a mall or maybe a convention with people moving around you or loud airconditioning.
Hi, I've bought Comica Boom XD for phone using usbC, but I couldn't connect with action cam even via usb c adaptor, Do you know why and how can i fix this, Thank you
Outstanding review my man. I review a lot of microphones on my channel also and some are very impressive while others are really bad. I'm really impressed with the quality you got from this especially while skateboarding
Hey Nigel. I really like the Conica products. I have tried out there products and they are a great alternative to Rode. I current us the CVM-200 wireless system for all my videos. I really am impressed.
Hey Nigel! Great video. I received the BOOMX-D with 1 transmitter as a gift, and currently use a SONY A6000 for a Camera. There's no audio port on my A6000 :( - do you know any other way I could be using it? is there some kind of an adapter on the market I could plug into my A6000?
Files? These aren’t recorders they are mics, so when using it with a camera you get whatever audio file your camera creates. In stereo mode you get to adjust your levels individually for each mic, so one could be lower if the person speaks loudly and higher for someone with a quieter voice. Hope that makes sense
I find the name quite confusing - as a prosumer audio product, why does it have “boom” in the name? This would imply, that it is made for booming with directional mics, not a wireless system for two lavalier mics
Would you recommend these mics over carrying a Zoom H1 with a wired mic and simply syncing the audio in post? I would think you wouldn't have to worry about lost connections that way or interference.
I feel like wireless systems are better than we give them credit for. Like we don’t like the idea of no cables for something like audio transmission, but after like 3 years shooting with wireless mics I’ve never had a problem hahah
The pico gear pico mic is the only other sys I’ve seen on the market comparable to to rose in quality that offers a receiver with 2 mics at $450 where as rose is $200 for one
These are so good! If you do a second review can you do it in an outdoor space as well with maybe people around. Would love to hear how they sound in a "vlogging" setting.
great and honest as always review. Curious is the battery swappable? Or is it one of these internal things? And curious if it is is a USB charger situation? Thanks man.
2.4GHz will be a digital signal almost certainly. That is why you don't get the hash similar to cheap UHF (470-940MHz) systems on traditional analog FM modulation. 2.4GHz performs best indoors. Stress test this outdoors and when line-of-sight from TX to RX is obscured, especially by metal objects or fencing -- users should know when it begins to break up and how. Inexperienced operators are the target audience for this type of product -- these users will be putting this system on their cameras next to Terradeks, iPad teleprompters, remote follow focus gadgets, gimbals and similar items. How well does this system play with others and when interference presents, what if anything does the system do to about it? Thanks for the review!
The low frequency noise strong Wifi introduces could be interference with the RF signal, it could also be digital noise introduced by a poorly designed lav microphone or microphone amplifier. If strong Wifi makes this unit unusable, that's a clear No-Buy situation. Whose shoot gets to control for ambient wifi? Wifi traffic certainly won't become less in the future!
@@ScottBeattyProSound My Comica lav Mic sounds fine with my system. I have put on different lav mics and the quality decreased. So overall with my Comica I'm quite pleased with the given lav microphone. Not to write home about but it is decent. I'd like to try this with a real high quality Lav Microphone.
interesting, though i have 2 questions: 1. Is the range better in outdoor if there's a blockade like Rode wireless go? 2. Does it use automatic channel switching like Rode wireless go? or do you have to select a channel?
With my Comica mic setup you have to choose a channel. It is one thing you need to check out ahead of time before you do your filming or your interview.
More and more 2.4ghz mics popping up. Best to actually test when the skatepark is filled with skaters each with their mobile connection going around the room. Dialogue is pretty clean here and really cool that sk8 is getting a featurette!
Great looking product. Thanks for this. Would you know if it sends the two feeds as a mixed channel or does it send one transmitter to the left channel and the other to the right
Hey man, I would love to see a video on your budget 4K camera picks. I’ve bought two cameras based on your videos to shoot 1080. They’ve treated me really well and only cost me $500 total for both so I really appreciate the suggestions. I recently upgraded my editing PC and I’d like to start shooting some easier stuff (like car meets) in 4K. I’ve focused so much on budget 1080 cameras over the past couple years that I’m completely out of the loop when it comes to affordable 4K bodies. Used GH4 vs ....?
Currently using a Canon T2i with Magic Lantern installed, do you think this could work with it? or are the awful canon preamps going to get in my way? haha, love your videos man!
Great review! I’ve been using the Comica Boom XD on my channel for ALL of my cocktail tutorials. I do zero post on the audio and I’m very happy. They are fantastic little mics. Highly recommended for anyone looking for compact wireless mics.
I will be testing these against the Rode wireless go! Anything specific you want me to test?
NigelBarros I would like to know how they compare on:
Very low sounds
Very loud sounds (do they peak/clip?)
Directionality
Ambient sound
Signal stability on crowded WiFi bands

Do you know when this will be released for sale?
Oh wow I love how it’s two transmitters going into 1 receiver. That makes it a way more attractive kit than the Rode Wireless Go System, which I love.
Thank you for showing how the mic clips into that lock!
Bro, under rated channel
Yeah that's the review I was looking for man.. Dynamic shots oooof.
I had commented about your tight shots of literally your face and you speaking..
And that whole changes with this video..
Kudos to you mate.
Great demonstration as usual, Nigel.
Other UA-camrs need to understand this -- don't tell me, show me.
Some of the most calm skating I've ever seen. Nice review
I liked the idea of using a skateboard. Really demanding conditions for the test.
unique product review i love it, its not so blahh like a lot of others, killer job man, also nice tray flip.
Appreciate it!
Great video! I love the idea of filming in a different environment and always appreciate more skateboarding in videos.
Just love your pace and way of explaining things bro. Keep it up!

This is a really well made video, nice work Nigel!
At a 1:57 you can hear very noticable digital static and interference . The lavs also sounds very muddy with zero highs.
I agree, I said in the video I wasn’t blown away with the lavs. I also didn’t do any EQ or compression to the audio
Love the video and all the great info! My I skate on my channel and I love the idea that I could mic up with no wires. Nice shred btw!
Cool review! First time I step into into your channel, I don't know about your previous videos but you should always do them skating.
Just ordered my mics, thanks for the review 👍🏾
Great review man but is there a buzz or humming sound midway through your video? is this the wifi thing you're taking about?
Thank you for being to the point and timely in your review 🙏🏻
Fantastic way of doing the review. Brilliant

That's one really good stable signal..great review! Thanks!
Hey Nigel! Would you recommend this for daily vlogging in my normal every day life?
That fall though. But excellent review. My very first external mic for my phone was a Comica and it's still working great 5 years after.
If you are using 2 Transmitter are the 2 Audio sources mixed together or are the 2 Sources panned left and right. I am asking because I am looking for a solution for Interviews where I would like to edit the Voices individually on separate tracks.
A very fresh take on a review... I dig this wireless kit... seriously considering the Comica over the Rode.
Good job! Really impressed with your skateboard skills! Thanks a lot! 👍
Solid and fun way to review a mic, thanks for that.
Your link does not send you to this item, it is a general Comica website, these are not available in Europe or the US!
I'll update the link, they are available on amazon US
sounds so good that i was pretty sure it was a voice over at first, great test Nigel
Same here!

Hi,
I've bought Comica Boom XD for phone using usbC, but I couldn't connect with action cam even via usb c adaptor,
Do you know why and how can i fix this, Thank you
What is the sound delay? Is it possible to comfortably use this system to play an instrument, vocals, like an ear monitor?
Ohhh really wanted you to test the noise floor of these.
How about if we go to metal environment, any issue of bad noise, or etc?
Outstanding review my man. I review a lot of microphones on my channel also and some are very impressive while others are really bad. I'm really impressed with the quality you got from this especially while skateboarding
Hey Nigel. I really like the Conica products. I have tried out there products and they are a great alternative to Rode. I current us the CVM-200 wireless system for all my videos. I really am impressed.
Super dope way to demo it. 🔥🔥🔥

I might just be investing in this. I love the audio and the wireless genius ness
Interesting way to go about filming a review! Enjoyed this whole skateboarding thing!
the compositions of this video are great , :) good review might consider to get this :)
when are these going to be available? I love how these sound with the included mic. Would be very easy to tweak in post
they're available now, I updated the link in the description. I'd wait till you see my update on them before you purchase them though
Did you have to boost the audio? I notice some hissing.
I haven't found any review about the files, when are you using two mics does it gives you one audio file or two audio files?
Files? These aren’t recorders they are mics, so when using it with a camera you get whatever audio file your camera creates. In stereo mode you get to adjust your levels individually for each mic, so one could be lower if the person speaks loudly and higher for someone with a quieter voice. Hope that makes sense
NigelBarros I see so you can separate one recorder to different channels. Thanks 🙏
I would like to now, is this the back of your house?
Is there a promo code for this launch? They should because it sell more. I’ll buy it for $200.
They heard loud and clear about the carrying case, because I've just got mine and it came with it.
From where please?
4:58 I'm still waiting on that update, whatever happened to it
Great review! First one I’ve seen for this system.
Best video to date, well done
Love your Chanel this is definitely a great Mic can’t wait till get my hands in one of those always great stuff Nigel
Hi, was the wifi static interference in your building fixed with the new unit they sent you?
I find the name quite confusing - as a prosumer audio product, why does it have “boom” in the name? This would imply, that it is made for booming with directional mics, not a wireless system for two lavalier mics
Kept hearing a hissing sound, Don't know if that would be a real issue for most. I don't know if I would buy, just because of that alone
I love it! I'm buying 2 for a feature
As from 2.02 there is clearly a buzzing sound, is it the mike, because before I could not hear it.
Would you recommend these mics over carrying a Zoom H1 with a wired mic and simply syncing the audio in post? I would think you wouldn't have to worry about lost connections that way or interference.
That’s definitely a safer method of capturing audio, but having it go directly into camera does make your life way easier!
NigelBarros Agreed. 🥂
I feel like wireless systems are better than we give them credit for. Like we don’t like the idea of no cables for something like audio transmission, but after like 3 years shooting with wireless mics I’ve never had a problem hahah
Tom Rich that's great to hear. I promise too give them a try. 🥂
Have you used the Rode Wireless Go? If so, how would you say the sounds quality compares?
Nigel, are you aware of any other comparable systems where you can pair two transmitters to one receiver?
Thanks!
The pico gear pico mic is the only other sys I’ve seen on the market comparable to to rose in quality that offers a receiver with 2 mics at $450 where as rose is $200 for one
You omitted the most important question. Does the RX serve dual channels as separate L and R into the camera, or a combined signal
Comica Boom XD or Pixel MK 7 which one is better on your openion??
Do you have an updated review on the wireless interference on this unit? Thanks alot!
thanks for your review! Could i have a set of those 4 mics (and 2 receivers) working seamlessly on the same set without any signal drop-out?
does it have internal recording?
These are so good! If you do a second review can you do it in an outdoor space as well with maybe people around. Would love to hear how they sound in a "vlogging" setting.
great and honest as always review. Curious is the battery swappable? Or is it one of these internal things? And curious if it is is a USB charger situation? Thanks man.
Holy shit when are they coming out? These sound better than the dual transmitter UWmic9s from Saramonic!!!!
Nice kit! I'm totally interested, especially since the price is reasonable.
Great review! If no one has asked this before, how long is the battery life for the transmitter and receiver?
2.4GHz will be a digital signal almost certainly. That is why you don't get the hash similar to cheap UHF (470-940MHz) systems on traditional analog FM modulation. 2.4GHz performs best indoors. Nigel, could one rig four total transmitters (two receivers) into a camera using a splitter? Or would one set interfere with the other?
interesting, though i have 2 questions:
1. Is the range better in outdoor if there's a blockade like Rode wireless go?
2. Does it use automatic channel switching like Rode wireless go? or do you have to select a channel?

I love when skaters are authentic and don’t edit out their falls in videos
can i ask what the diffrence between that your reviewing now and the COMICA CVM.WM300?
The wm300 is a uhf system and this system runs off a 2.4ghz signal
Ou! I’m intrigued. Now time to watch
Where to buy? I haven’t found any seller, also not found this gear at Amazon.
Can you add more lav mic and have let's say 4 mic with 1 reciever
Any idea if this would work with a 3.5mm to lightning for iPhone filming? Great video.
touchtennis you might need an TRS adapter, RODE sells one for iPhone. That shouuuld work but don’t own one so can’t test!
Tom Rich I have the rode adapter for their fixed mics. I’ll just have to assume they work as I’m buying these no matter what!
Sounds great but still a bit pricey for a weekend warrior. Great review!
Hi Nigel, when using both transmitters does it record audio in separate tracks or mix them both together in one audio track?
Jan Choc normal for this type of recorder to be able to do both :) stereo, one on each channel or mono a mix of both in one track. Hope that helps
My Comica has two transmitters too but only output as a single track. No stereo. Helps keep the cost down.
More and more 2.4ghz mics popping up. Best to actually test when the skatepark is filled with skaters each with their mobile connection going around the room. Dialogue is pretty clean here and really cool that sk8 is getting a featurette!
Same price as rode wireless go?
Was going to buy it, until amazon said it would take 3-5 weeks to ship. Yikes!
If the price is under $100 I'll definitely be getting one
This was dope! 👊🏼
Great looking product. Thanks for this. Would you know if it sends the two feeds as a mixed channel or does it send one transmitter to the left channel and the other to the right
The Comica I have sends the two inputs as a single channel. It is not a stereo. Im sure if it were a true stereo it would cost a great deal more.
