- I can honestly say this was the hardest, most challenging thing I have ever taken part in. 6 days of riding 100km+ (6 hours per day) in 40 degrees heat through the Sahara desert certainly took its toll. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!!

Awesome effort Cam. Wise to listen to the signs of heatstroke, go for medical assistance and duck out of final stage. No shame. I did same whilst riding in Colombia. Felt first effects, stopped and got in support van. One guy in group didn’t listen and is lucky to be alive. He lost all sense of direction and went over the edge of the climb. Fortunately he was spotted, rescued and taken to hospital. All the time delirious fighting and hitting out at his rescuers. His heart went into overload and docs had to stop his heart and reset it a few times. Don’t mess with heatstroke it could be ☠️. Chris
Yeah man, it's a tough one to take. Was having heart palpitations too the night more which added to the decision. But luckily all okay. Glad you were too!
I live in that heat since I was a child......the heat itself is no problem but dwelling under the sun without shelter for extended periods of time is just foolish, also people that have no choice and have to work under the sun (like builders or farmers) don't drink much water after the sunrise till sunset.....the more you drink the more you sweat the more dehydrated you'll be.
However you have my respect for trying something as extreme as this.

To notice the little stick formation at the bottom of that tree was beautiful....a small break pushed down and then surrounded by small leans. Not many would pick up on that bro. OMG I had heatstroke when I was 16 and still remember it to this day! Chapeau for going as far as you did..... I did the London ride 100 Sunday in 21 degrees! on a Brompton! And where you were it was 40 degrees ! That is like an air fryer 😝
Brilliant well done, loved following your adventure. I was engrossed with your regular updates throughout the race when you probably weren't in the mood and pushing yourself to the extreme. You going to attempt it again with a bit more preparation? 👍💪💪

Morocco is a very beautiful country I enjoy every time a long bike ride, there is snow, desert, jungle, seas, everything is there, cold weather, warm to hot, one the same day and the same country

Amazing effort! Not to mention documenting it all too 😅. Listening to your body in that state is crucial, heatstroke can turn fatal very quickly - so you set a good example. Well at least the viewers have the upside that we might get to watch you do it all over again (minus heatstroke 🤞🏻)! This might be a stupid question, but were you taking on plenty of electrolytes as well as water?

….that looks brutal, heatstroke is no joke, I had it once just out hiking in the sun, you just feel so ill and weak, and I was the same water did nothing. A cold bath for 30 mins helped. Scary stuff, big effort.
What did you have in the 7 liters of water? Hopefully sufficient minerals/carbs?

I mean, you're from Lancs. We struggle with the heat when it gets in the high 20s, so fair play getting that far. Looked brutal and those endless, dull stages with no scenery or signs of life. Blimey.

I personally think the rides/races/routes where a gravel bike performs the best are few and far between. Definitely in the UK anyways.

I will never understand how we can take a plane to fly to distant location to cycle. That's completely anachronic.
When I lived in the UK, I saw tons of people flying around the world for fun.
I hope all of this won't detract the climate to a point such that I won't be able to cycle around my place peacefully for the rest of my life. That's not sure though. But it seems you enjoyed these few days, so it was probably worth my future years.
