When we built our home, almost 50 years ago, we tried to do it so frugally so we didn’t not put in central heat or air. An attic fan did a wonderful job at cooling the house off at night and we did insulate it well and had good windows installed so during the day we closed up the windows and it stayed very comfortable. We fortunately live “in a holler” with hills protecting us on both sides so direct sun comes late in the morning and sets in early evening. There were very few days the heat and humidity was terrible. We had baseboard heaters for cold weather but used mainly a wood burner in our fireplace. As we got older, that was replaced with gas logs. We could now put in a central unit, but just living on one floor now that the kids have married, we find a couple window ACs take care of the need in summer.
Hi Tiffany! I thought only Layla was lactose intolerant! Wilder is also? Our AC unit has been broken for a good many years, it takes money that we don’t have or want to spend to fix it so our window units work just fine as well! Our power bill is also cheaper!

We live in Texas and were without AC for several years. Window units, if you have enough of them do fine.

We have AC but it’s thirteen years old and we said that when it goes out we will put in window units. Our first years of marriage we had window units. We use an electric plug in heater for heating our home.

Good morning beautiful family. I’m glad you all enjoyed the bacon. My son-in-law said it was the best bacon he had ever eaten. I had given him 2 packs and he ate both of them at 1 setting so I gave him the other also. It’s already gone, lol. And the AC, we went 8 years here with just window units. It was only after the furnace went out that we had no choice but to get a new unit. This will be our first summer with the new unit.

Our central air is out also lol. We bought the part to fix it but it's all complicated lol. I find tho that working 2 110 ac units is cheaper then the central air unit. I'm assuming becuz the central unit needed fixed a bit back. But it works so we're not in a hurry. 1st possibility on blood work says we are having a grandson 🎉🎉🎉
About the same temp here in Arizona and just bought a window unit....it gets really hot here about over 105 every summer and every day. Use spray bottles with water to cool yourself off .

I have lived in the Ca desert for 8 yrs. I have lived in Puerto Rico 7 yrs and I am living in Michigan. The heat doesn't bother me but I definitely know how to dress up the snow I don't necessarily no how to dress but I'm learning. I hope you guys are doing ok .

We have no AC to us there is more important things to worry about, if we get hot we jump in the shower to cool down.

Many years ago, I met a soldier who had just returned from the Middle East where it had been 135 degrees in the summer so when my air conditioner died ten years ago, I just let it be. And that's with Florida humidity which is ghastly. I just compare what I do have with what others don't have. How did you like your pickle bread?

We only have window units here, too. It's more mild up our way. I can't justify AC

Does it get very humid where you are? I grew up in an area where it got hot but not humid and we along with a lot of people we knew didn't have central air. I now live somewhere where it gets humid in the summer and can't imagine not having central air!

Does it cool off in at night where you’re at because I don’t turn on my air conditioner until the end of May if not June and last year it didn’t work. And we just opened the windows every single night with the fans running and house would drop down to you know 60° 63° and then it would just heat up over the day butthat’s one way to do it
It does currently but over summer it won’t
