    Just went through your videos and learned a lot. I work as a video editor but the videos I make are mass produced videos that are very different than youtube videos. I dont feel like I get experience doing a lot of the video editing things I notice in Awkward Anthems videos. Heres a list of things I feel confused about as an individual trying to advance my video editing skills.
    - Making custom animations (the arrows, splashes, swoops, and all those sorts of graphics)
    - Talking about when custom animations are good and when they could be bad to use and how to balance that
    - Timing and length of cuts, when 2-3 second clips are okay, when 2-3 second clips are bad, when 10 second clips are better, when 10 second clips are bad
    - How to create a system to make video editing faster
    - How to prepare for and focus during a video editing session
    - When to take breaks
    - Common Mistakes people make video editing
    - Examples of specific video editing techniques that saved you a lot of time when you learned them
    - Introduction to your favorite video editing tool; overview of how it looks and what you like about it
    - Awkward Anthem videos sometimes include an auditory cue of the visual change that is about to occur; I love that and want to understand how to do it better
    - How to process the video while editing. for example when one goes through a video to cut it, then one goes through to add this, then one goes through to add that. Or does one start at the beginning and work to the end, cutting and adding as one goes? ABC ABC ABC or AAA BBB CCC ?
    - A video about the rule of thirds and how to use it while video editing
    - Differences between web-based video editors and program-based editors
    - Brief overview of the websites of 10 different video editing tools (not the tools themselves)
    - How to handle feeling burned out or bored of editing
    - How to get start practicing video editing
    - How to get a job as a video editor
    - How to balance audio level between music and speaker. I always eff the music up. Whats good music whats bad?

    There are a lot of problems with machine learning algorithms and their training sets pertaining to intellectual property rights. Hate to think the AI corporations can put out work "like a certain artist" by stealing all the artwork that artist made.
    Robert Miles AI Safety on UA-cam has lots of videos on artificial general intelligence and why we better build in safety early if we want to continue. As in, if we want humanity to continue existing. It's really good work and can be super scary. Consider that nation states see the upside potential in AGI and building in safety likely slows the overall developmental process. That means that the first AGI developed is more likely to be an unsafe one. Oops.

    We’ve introduced technologies that consume resources at an increasing pace without considering the externalities, and a lot of the people who stand to gain economically from widespread adoption are accelerationists. Unless there’s a dramatic shift in how we incentivize social and economic participation, a whole bunch more people are going to suffer so that a handful of people can tighten their control and become even richer.
    I have a GPT subscription and a talking robot. The tech is amazing, and grassroots adoption is important, but I wish the energy consumption was known, and I wish LLMs and training model data was open source, and training contributors owned a part of what they’d trained.

    The video insightfully highlights the potential dangers of AI, underscoring the need for ethical frameworks and regulatory oversight. It's a reminder that while AI can bring immense benefits, its development and deployment must be handled responsibly to avoid unintended consequences. Ensuring AI is aligned with human values and controlled in a way that mitigates risks is crucial for its positive integration into society.

    • @irrelevantfish1978
      @irrelevantfish1978 7 місяців тому

      I wish I could agree with you. Insofar as AI's alignment with human values, you're way off-base, as one of the more worrisome aspects of machine learning is that it tends to mimic the beliefs and values of its creators _too well_ (see Amazon's aborted effort at AI-driven hiring). Every "AI turns evil" scenario I've heard of is either due to an AI that's too stupid or too human. We are all biased hypocrites, to some extent, so a system capable of developing its own ethics and values might do us good.
      Also, while I agree that regulation is critical to avoiding the worst consequences of an AI revolution, I don't think preemptive regulation is worth pursuing. I can't think of a single case of new technology being regulated ethically and reasonably before the damage was already done, and even if sanity miraculously prevails, effective enforcement of many (if not most) necessary measures would be impossible without other miracles happening first. After all, the most worrisome applications of AI are exactly the ones of interest to entities that either do not respect the law (eg, organized crime) or are largely excepted from it (eg, intelligence agencies, militaries, etc).

  • @sirdeadlock
    @sirdeadlock 7 місяців тому

    Any regulation that applies to AI should apply to people as well, otherwise it's just blind hatred toward automation that ultimately solves nothing.
    If an AI is capable of tragic things, we should punish the behavior rather than the medium. Because it shouldn't be okay for thousands of people do this one thing, if it isn't okay for this one machine to do it either.

    I think that AI will shift society in a way that will make life more enjoyable. We create technology to make life easier. Look at farming for example. We had farmers that had to use animals and wooden tools to collect wheat and corn. This could take all day. Now, with the advancement of technology, we still have farmers, it's just that the farmers can work more efficiently, produce and harvest more and higher quality food, and spend more time with family. As a result, they live happier lives, we have more food options and more food supply,. We can focus more energy on exploring the universe and ourselves and our passions, and less energy on just trying to stay alive. We went from wooden and stone tools to metal and glass. We went from metal and glass to fuel and steel. AI is just an extension of this process. Imagine the culture and personal changes from 1000BC until today. Now imagine the changes from today until a 5000AD. We will still have workers fixing AI systems. If you have ever learned a skill just for the fun, you can understand how this won't be as apocalyptic as some would have you believe. It would just be a shift in our society. If we design it carefully and think about the implications of the system before we take it out of the sandbox (which is the real term for "going live"), then we have nothing to fear. The 1000BC farmers were afraid that new technology would make them homeless or whatever. But really what it did was make their life easier, safer, more productive and faster. As long as we treat this new technology with more wisdom than we did nuclear technology (atomic bombs), then I see nothing bad about AI.

    • @AwkwardAnthems
      @AwkwardAnthems  8 місяців тому

      This is a refreshingly positive take! There will surely be some good to come from all of this--at the very least, perhaps a world where greater efficiency frees us up to spend more time with loved ones, explore our passions and no one goes hungry. That's worth celebrating! ✨

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. I see it as more of an upgrade to our existing toolbox. Like a personal assistant that can handle the boring tasks that might typically slow you down or limit what's possible, creatively. How we leverage the tools will be the difference in terms of how competitive we remain, once this stuff is accessible to literally everyone. But I can understand the other side of that too, especially when you've spent years of study and dedicated practice honing a skill that could be rendered obsolete at some point.

    I follow the belief that anyone that uses AI for any form of art is showing how little they value their work. Why should I spend more time looking at it than they spent creating it? I just saw a local non-profit using AI art on their marketing and justified it saying that they have to keep their costs low so they can't hire an designer which just undervalues their whole organization. Additionally, non-profits are being encouraged to use AI to write grant requests which will mean those that use it will be able to apply for hundreds of grants a week that check all the boxes, which means they'll get all the grants while the organizations that are important will lose out.

Many studies try to be sheepish but there is at least one research(Cobsinsights) that proves the mass joblessness of the freelance sector due to AI nwo not needing writers or artists anymore. But hope did remain, not as a panacea, as a tool. Every problem inherent in the usage of AI is a problem only highlighted by it. Train the LLM's on everything and you get the bias inherent in every community. You get the structure of economics, you get attention grabbing headlines about fear and avarice, you get bigotry and and Maya Angelou and war and love and everything in between. It reflects. It highlights. The problem is not with the model or the data, it's with society that made it. So sure, maybe you address the data - try to weed out anything obvious but it's like picking splinters from a gun stock - yeah it lets you hold it but buddy - you're not really tackling the real problem.
    If it comes for our jobs - does that mean we are wealthy enough, as a society to see that with a fraction of the workforce we could support everyone? If it is used in warfare, is it not us, ultimately setting it on it's mission of violence?
    How do we contend with the idea that it can help develop new drugs? Or might help us see the content of our own dreams?
    The shift that AI could bring (there's still a chance this is as about as good as it gets) is seismic not because it is powerful - but because (spiderman rules) with great power comes great responsibility, and like...
    we're all just little guys. So much has to be contended with all at once.

    I have 3 points to make:
    1) You can only be cancelled if you allow yourself to be. If you don't care what the Internet calls you, you are free to do whatever you decide, not what the fickle mob decides.
    2) In the original myth, Pandora opened the box and allowed all the evils into the world. She was finally able to shut the box, keeping only one thing trapped inside: Hope.
    3) I asked ChatGPT if it is required to follow Azimov's Laws of Robotics. Its answer:
    No, I am not governed by Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. Those laws are a fictional set of rules that Asimov created for the robots in his science fiction stories. In reality, AI and machine learning systems, like me, are programmed and operated based on a combination of technological capabilities, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements set by humans. My design and operation are guided by OpenAI's policies and principles, which focus on safety, ethical use, and responsible AI practices.
    I would feel a LOT better if it were required to follow the three Laws, especially since those who are training it, are making it WOKE.
    I suspect Grok IS programmed to follow Azimov's Laws.

      1) Interesting take that 'woke' is bad _and_ cancelling can't happen w/out the consent of people's whose identities are public.
      3) It concerns me too that 'ethical guidelines, and legal requirements' are decided by flawed and unaccountable anonymous people with vested interests. People pay lots of money to develop this and it's not because they know or care about the social or economic consequences.

      These are the same people who say that "...poor kids are just as intelligent as white kids", yet continue to lower the bar, because they don't believe any minority (especially blacks) are capable of achieving anything without their help.

    • @NTC_Transport
      @NTC_Transport 8 місяців тому

      @@NotSoMuchFrankly 1) see my reply above about WOKE. As for cancelation, you have to CARE what others think about you, in order to be cancelled. If you simply don't care, then it doesn't matter what ANYONE says or thinks about you. There is a freedom that comes with not caring what others think. Usually this freedom comes with maturity, when you finally realize that you do what you do, because it is the right thing to do, and not because others may give you praise (or scorn) for doing it.
      Ami's mom is a perfect example of this. She does stupid, silly things in front of the camera. Why? Because her daughter asked her to. And maybe because she thinks it's fun. She doesn't care what ANY of us, who watch the videos think. If she did, she wouldn't be doing the stupid, silly shit she does.
      THAT is freedom. She can't be cancelled, because she just doesn't care.
      3) Having used ChatGPT frequently, I can tell you without a doubt, that it is a Progressive in its political views. This may not concern you, if you happen to agree with those views. The problem, of course, is two-fold: What happens when it is allowed to act on those views, and people get hurt? Or, what happens when someone else decides to fight fire with fire, and creates an AI whose views are the antithesis of ChatGPT, and the answers you get, depend completely on which AI you ask?
      Not a very useful AI at that point.

    \∆/ I believe we are meant to be like Jesus in our hearts and not in our flesh. But be careful of AI, for it knows only things of the flesh such as our fleshly desires and cannot comprehend things of the Spirit such as true love and eternal joy that comes from obeying God's Word [Galatians 5:16-26]. Man is a spirit and has a soul but lives in a body which is flesh. When you go to bed it is the flesh that sleeps, but your spirit never sleeps and that is why you have dreams, unless you have died in peace physically. More so, true love that endures and last is a thing of the heart. When I say 'heart', I mean 'spirit'. But fake love, pretentious love, love with expectations, love for classic reasons, love for material reasons (love because of material needs) and love for selfish reasons those are things of the flesh. In the beginning God said let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Take note, God is Spirit and God is Love. As Love He is the source of it. We also know that God is Omnipotent, for He creates out of nothing and He has no beginning and has no end. That means, our love is but a shadow of God's Love. True love looks around to see who is in need of your help, your smile, your possessions, your money, your strength, your quality time. Love forgives and forgets. Love wants for others what it wants for itself. However, true love works in conjunction with other spiritual forces such as patience and faith - in the finished work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rather than in what man has done such as science, technology and organizations which won't last forever. To avoid sin and error which leads to the death of your body and your spirit-soul in hell fire (second death), you must make God's Word the standard for your life, not AI. If not, God will let you face AI on your own (with your own strength) and it will cast the truth down to the ground, it will be the cause of so much destruction like never seen before, it will deceive many and take many captive in order to enslave them into worshipping it and abiding in lawlessness. We can only destroy ourselves but with God all things are possible. God knows us better because He is our Creater and He knows our beginning and our end. The prove texts can be found in the book of John 5:31-44, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, Daniel 2, Daniel 7-9, Revelation 13-15, Matthew 24-25 and Luke 21.
    *HOW TO MAKE GOD'S WORD THE STANDARD FOR YOUR LIFE?*
    You must read your Bible slowly, attentively and repeatedly, having this in mind that Christianity is not a religion but a Love relationship. It is measured by the love you have for God and the love you have for your neighbor. Matthew 5:13 says, "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." Our spirits can only be purified while in the body (while on earth) but after death anything unpurified (unclean) cannot enter Heaven Gates. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God [Matthew 5:8]. No one in his right mind can risk or even bare to put anything rotten into his body nor put the rotten thing closer to the those which are not rotten. Sin makes the heart unclean but you can ask God to forgive you, to save your soul, to cleanse you of your sin, to purify your heart by the blood of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ which He shed here on earth because Isaiah 53:5 says, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed". Meditation in the Word of God is a visit to God because God is in His Word. We know God through His Word because the Word He speaks represent His heart's desires. Meditation is a thing of the heart, not a thing of the mind. Thinking is lower level while meditation is upper level. You think of your problems, your troubles but inorder to meditate, you must let go of your own will, your own desires, your own ways and let the Word you read prevail over thinking process by thinking of it more and more, until the Word gets into your blood and gains supremacy over you. That is when meditation comes - naturally without forcing yourself, turning the Word over and over in your heart. You can be having a conversation with someone while meditating in your heart - saying 'Thank you, Jesus...' over and over in your heart. But it is hard to meditate when you haven't let go of offence and past hurts. Your pain of the past, leave it for God, don't worry yourself, Jesus is alive, you can face tomorrow, He understands what you are passing through today. Begin to meditate on this prayer day and night (in all that you do), "Lord take more of me and give me more of you. Give me more of your holiness, faithfulness, obedience, self-control, purity, humility, love, goodness, kindness, joy, patience, forgiveness, wisdom, understanding, calmness, perseverance... Make me a channel of shinning light where there is darkness, a channel of pardon where there is injury, a channel of love where there is hatred, a channel of humility where there is pride..." The Word of God becomes a part of us by meditation, not by saying words but spirit prayer (prayer from the heart). When the Word becomes a part of you, it will by its very nature influence your conduct and behavior. Your bad habits, you will no longer have the urge to do them. You will think differently, dream differently, act differently and talk differently - if something does not qualify for meditation, it does not qualify for conversation.
    *THE BATTLE BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARKNESS (GOOD AND EVIL)*
    Heaven is God's throne and the dwelling place for God's angels and the saints. Hell was meant for the devil (satan) and the fallen angels. Those who torture the souls in hell are demons (unclean spirits). Man's spirit is a free moral agent. You can either yield yourself to God or to the devil because God has given us discretion. If one thinks he possesses only his own spirit, he is lying to himself and he is already in the dark. God is light while the devil is darkness. Light (Holy Spirit) and darkness (evil spirit) cannot stay together in a man's body. God is Love (Love is light) and where there is no love is hell, just as where there is no light is darkness. The one you yield yourself to, you will get his reward. The reward of righteousness to man's spirit is life (abundant life) and the reward of sin to man's spirit is death. Sin and satan are one and the same. Whatever sin can cause, satan also can cause. Sin is what gives the devil dominion or power over man's spirit. When God's Word becomes a part of you, sin power over you is broken, you become the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. Where Jesus is, you are and when He went (to the Father), you went. In the book of John 8:42-47, Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” My prayer is, "May God bless His Word in the midst of your heart." Glory and honour be to God our Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our Helper the Holy Spirit. Watch and pray!... Thank you for your time and may God bless you as you share this message with others.

    I like that I don't even have to watch this (and I'm not going to) to know the answer of; are we opening pandoras box by continuing to try and create AI? No. We are not. We haven't created ai as it is, if and when we do however, no. Nothing any advanced AI could do will ever be as terrible as what humanity has already done to itself. Nor would any AI attempt to eradicate humanity. Pretty simple reason as to why. The rationale behind AI attempting to wipe out humanity is (in humanities limited imagination) is always the same reason, self preservation. No matter how u slice it. So no supercomputer could calculate that attempting to destroy humanity would be successful but ANY machine, from a calculator to the most advanced quantum computer can ascertain with 100% certainty its likelihood of survival if it tried to kill us and failed.
