I got to travel to the UK a few years back and was amazed at how much better the fast food and chocolate was compared to the US, here its filled with a crap ton of preservatives and you can definitely taste the difference.
@96benty I'm American but traveled to England many times. I always hit a Sainsbury on my way to the airport to buy my friends the giant Dairy Milk bars. I've loved seeing the Cadbury vending machines in the tube stations -- we don't have anything even edible in our vending machines, lol. CADBURY over Hersheys & Nestles any day of the week for this anglophile! PS I can't agree w the comment about their food, some is fine (I love fish n chips) but their Chinese take out is terribly disappointing compared to ours!
Sugar can cause inflammation, and its easier to burn off fat then sugar. They added more fat when they took out sugar, hence it isnt lower in calories, but you're getting less issues from the sugar (inflammation, better for diabetics and keto)
Yep, diabetics understand less sugar (or better yet NO sugar), but must still keep in check those calories! I'm diabetic & was stationed in 1988 at Upper Heyford AFB. Loved the Cadbury but it's just not the same any longer. Tried Wonka
Im an 80s kid from the US and i was raised on Cadbury eggs for sure 😀😊🤤😋 i really loved them i still really like them now! ❤❤❤ Ive gotta go get the 30% less sugar bar for sure must have!!!
I'm still watching, but just a quick note: The White Creme Egg trays could surely have some hook/groove along the edges that joins adjoining trays together and turns into a hinge??? Mouthwatering!
ofcourse, but there was a superior manager that wanted the lower worker to fail....later you see the lower worker rapidly warp the eggs, and the superior was just trying to get the warp around the egg. classic manager contra the hands on worker.... but who am i ? i am the person who is buying the working class a beer 🙂
The number of people who fixated on the calories floored me! Sugar and calories are very different things, and someone who wants to avoid sugar isn't necessarily doing so to avoid caloric intake!
I also fit in that category. The idea of much less sugar had me excited, but much less fat too? I guess if it works, it works, but I'm skeptical. In fairness to the marketing team not everybody realises yet that there is more to avoiding sugar than simply losing weight, so I guess it adds appeal.
That's what I said. She obviously isn't diabetic. While a cadbury chocolate wouldn't be ideal for a diabetic one could break off small amounts for a treat now and then. I am 128 lbs and diabetic. But the last cadbury egg I tasted was crystalized, chocolate was off color and the middle of the egg was a dark orange. I think they make too many for the next year and allow them to sit!
I visited the Cadbury's factory, Bournville, in 1996, on a road trip around Scotland, with my granddaughter. We visited the factory at the beginning of our trip, bought a lot of chocolate, gifts for family and friends in Canada. We visited it at the end of our trip because we had eaten all the gift chocolate and needed to replenish the supply before flying back to Canada. I've been hooked on Cadbury's my whole life, as a connection to my birth country (England). However, I have noticed a significant difference in taste between Cadbury's made in England compared to Cadbury's made in North America. My own personal hypothesis is: Certain breeds of cows free grazing in British fields, eating British grass give a better quality of milk vs north american cows living and breathing a very different environment and eating who knows what. A happy, contented cow gives tasty milk.
I live across the street from the Godiva factory in Pennsylvania. They sell huge bags of 'seconds' chocolates for $3. The candy isn't rotten/spoiled...nothing like that. Its the imperfect pieces...not the right shape, etc.
Love the narrator it's like I'm hearing Willy Wonka and I'm watching a movie! Editing/ cinematography of Documentary Central is always on point! By the way, I love Cadbury 💕

I once bit into a Cadbury Egg and pulled out a one inch shard of glass! Since the shard had the classic egg mold marks on it, Cadbury confirmed it came from their factory. Apparently a mold had broken and a few eggs had escaped with the sharp mold pieces held within the candy. Thankfully, I was not injured. An attorney assured me that I stood to make a ton of money in a lawsuit, but I just couldn't bring myself to hurt the company which has given me so much tasty pleasure over the years. I settled for a few coupons and that was that. P.S. I would never buy the 30% less sugar version, because I only eat one or two of the eggs a year, and by golly they had better be the super sweet originals...

Hershey bought the rights to make and sell Cadbury chocolates in the US, and unfortunately the company uses a different recipe in the States (imports of Cadbury chocolate from Britain are banned in the US). Cadbury in the US is basically made with Hershey's lame chocolate.

On the White Creme Eggs. There has got to be a better way to put the two side togther. That is so dumb the way they slap them together. How about freezing one half then pop them out one at a time and lay them on the other half. As far as putting the White Creme Eggs in stores also dumb to have a guy go to stores one egg at a time. Why not do it at the plant? When they are filling boxes with eggs just randomly toss one ion with the others as they are being packaged. Simple.
Several years ago, Cadbury experimented with an Orange Creme Egg. I did so hope that it would be a permanent fixture at Easter, but I only saw it that one year. Think of the orange cream in Black Magic, but with dairy milk instead of dark chocolate. Mmmmm…
The fact that the government wants to regulate the amount of sugar in chocolate is just ridiculous and honestly, a micromanaging way of controlling what you can and cannot do. It's chocolate, you're not eating it to be healthy, you're eating it to give you a moment of pleasure in an otherwise rather crummy world. Inform people of how much sugar is in it yes, give them a lower sugar option and keep the original definitely. But don't sit there and tell people that they can't have it if that's what they want.
It's just as goofy as McDonald's trying to make a healthier burger. I don't go to McDonald's for healthy anything. It's called a "splurge". It takes self-control to navigate properly in this world, and so self-control must be practiced often. Creating a world where everything is dull and safe, removes the spice and romance of living. Life must have risks and temptations to be lived to its fullest...
I just got a glimpse of the major US foodie, Mondelez who bought Cadbury. They also tried to buy Hershey's USA but we're unsuccessful. They are huge and I loved Rittz cracker, not so much anymore.

They went through all that with the reduced sugar recipe but *didn't* reduce the calories? Who can blame consumers if they're not eating someting healthier lol.

Cadbury's hazel nut or the cadbury's 5star bar is my favourite and cadbury's scientists must know that I know what the flavour of Isomalto-Oligosaccharides (IMO) and Inulin compared to sugar taste like so he mustn't go overboard with the secret sugar ingredient replacement. Isomalto-Oligosaccharides (IMO) and Inulin. These sophisticated carbohydrate compounds possess a natural sweetness without the caloric baggage of sugar.
I wish they would bring back the nutties. My fav was the hazelnut ones. Mix a bag of whispers and a box of hazelnut nutties and its heaven with each bite !! Oh and a proper turkish delight too. The Frys one just doesnt taste right to me
So far, I have only read negative comments about the chocolate from mostly aussies and new zealanders. So I am going to give different perspective. Cadbury in india is synonymous with quality chocolate since decades. No other chocolate brand comes closer to it. Although, considered a child's treat, it is loved equally by both children and adults alike. The only problem I have is the price and size. its been getting smaller by each year.
Might be more because maybe India doesn't really have the same history of chocolate and doesn't have a concept of what "good" chocolate tastes like. It's like in China the Chinese were fawning over "western" stuff as superior because compared to Chinese equivalent, it was.. but it was stuff that for me, as an American, was bottom tier. I mean this as a statement of fact, not a judgement. The same is true in reverse of course.
The original movie is called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the name of the book and the new 2005 version of the movie, which isn't as good as the original.
This was great and nice to learn a bit more about the company. As an American growing up in Africa both Dairy Milk and Fruit & Nut were a favorite indulgence and we were lucky to have the UK import versions. Returning to the US and trying the same products they just weren't the same unfortunately. But I still have a lot of admiration for the brand after all these years and make a point to get some whenever I make it back to the UK

i had to give up on the creme eggs - there's so much sugar in that filling, it just sets your teeth on edge
The Cadbury caramel egg is my favorite and the best IMHO!! ❤
The first thing I would look for for after Easter sales
They don't taste the same anymore 😢
If I worked there for 6 months they would need a forklift to get me in and out of work. LOL
Same, but I think I'd only take six weeks. lol
Same
That the government allowed a British institution to fall into foreign ownership is an absolute travesty.
Would you rather the government dictate who the owner of the company can sell to?
The two brothers were so sweet!! Thats precious 💞
I really used to love Cadbury but just very sad it doesn't taste the same as it used to. There is no pleasure for me anymore eating them💔
I feel the same way. Candy used to be fantastic but it's not worth eating anymore.
No chocolate does. I even find the best local chocolatiers in my city have changed their recipes. It tasted less like chocolate and more wax or flavoured fillers 😢
@@redfo3009 Totally! It's a global phenomenon/problem... 🌏🍫👎🏻
Lindt makes a delicious cream-filled white chocolate ball, and you don't have to hunt for it!
Lindt made a great chocolate bar filled with raspberry....I miss it😢. I hear they no longer make it.
The UK chocolate is inferior to European one ...Sorry 😊
I'm in love with Cadbury eggs! Always and forever! ❤
Cadbury is the best here in South Africa. Definitely better than anywhere else in the world
I visited the factory in Dunedin, New Zealand in 2011. Absolutely amazing process.
Cadbury used to be the go-to chocolate in New Zealand but about a decade ago they moved the local production offshore with cheaper ingredients and you can tell the quality has dropped a lot. I buy Whittaker's which is much higher quality.
Great comment here's more: Cadbury made smaller blocks of chocolate, that tasted different to the high quality chocolate it use to make (they tried palm oil then regretted that), mean while, Whittakers is the best chocolate in the country....I'd rather pay $2 more for quality than shitty chocolate from Cadbury.
Hi there!!! So i just read your comment and i live in canada and a HUGE chocolate lover :) esp cadbury, im 30 now but growing up cadbury was amazing and i definitely agree the taste changed and its not what it used to be! I actually never knew about whittaker chocolate but apparently they sell them at the walmart close by lol, because u mentioned them now i cant wait to go try some! I also dont mind paying more for chocolate as long as its GOOD😊 thank u so much!❤ wouldve never known about whittaker if it wasnt for ur post
@@Housemusic4everOh boy I’ll try those too now thanks! 😊
Most chocolate comes from Ghana there's problems with the Price of it Africans are being cheaped out of millions of dollars by many countries so that's why the ingredients are changing.
I would like the cream egg with half the sugar. It’s sickly sweet.
Yes! I agree 💯! Cadbury crème eggs would be SO much better with AT LEAST 50% less sugar. They’re WAY too sickly sweet for me!
Tried Wonka
Tried Willie's Cocoa Chocolate - it's a game changer & excellently delicious!!!💜
When people forget what the good tastes like bad becomes acceptable. Britain shouldn't mess with Cadbury's Company.
They already did
@@marleneclough3173 The scenario happens with more than just chocolate. Each time it does, we loose a piece of ourselves.
I thought the same thing
They seemed to have locating pins
ofcourse, but there was a superior manager that wanted the lower worker to fail....later you see the lower worker rapidly warp the eggs, and the superior was just trying to get the warp around the egg.
classic manager contra the hands on worker.... but who am i ? i am the person who is buying the working class a beer 🙂
Ingredients would get in the hinge & be unhygienic as well as make the hinges difficult to move.
I still remember getting Cadbury eggs in my easter basket as a child and loved them.
The Cadbury with caramel is so good !
Yes those are yummy
Cadbury is popular in Canada, especially at Easter. Love love still to this day
I visited the Cadbury's factory, Bournville, in 1996, on a road trip around Scotland, with my granddaughter. A happy, contented cow gives tasty milk.
lol eating all the choc. something i would have done.
I knew someone who in the 80s worked at Cadbury and they used to bring me a bag of boken chocolate from their employee store.
Lucky you😊
I live across the street from the Godiva factory in Pennsylvania. They sell huge bags of 'seconds' chocolates for $3. The candy isn't rotten/spoiled...nothing like that. Its the imperfect pieces...not the right shape, etc.
Omg I’m jealous
My siblings worked at chik fila in the early 90s we got lots of free sandwiches
Love the narrator it's like I'm hearing Willy Wonka and I'm watching a movie! Editing/ cinematography of Documentary Central is always on point! By the way, I love Cadbury 💕
It’s amazing and sad that a government can dictate sugar content in chocolate..
Not really when that sugar content contributes to billions in healthcare spending caused by obesity and chronic disease from too much sugar and fat consumption…
It is only an option. You can buy whatever you want.
@@bloodrunforusso its justified in your mind by nationalized healthcare....yet another reason to be against that. FREEDOM!
This is an amazing documentary!! A suggestion to viewers before u start this.. u better have some chocolate near u while watching.
I prefer chocolate from Germany, Austria, Belgium and of course Switzerland personally... But keep trying 😊
You're at least 35 or so years old
I couldnt work for cadbury I'd be eating the candy nonstop that's how good it is.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video!! I'm a huge fan and have stuffed all of my stockings with Cadbury's. Yum!!
This is MY World ❤❤❤. Drop everything to have a job as choco taster. YUM!
I really miss the square chocolate covered shortbread! Bring it back PLEASE!
I am a fan of these chocolates , the way they have everything and keeping customer experiences first and testing the similar way , is what makes them stands out in the competition . YAYY!!!
I remember getting cadbury eggs for easter from my aunt. Love them all my life, still do. Yum
I wish the US had a white crème egg hunt, too!
North America, because we should include Canada…lol
@@Olivia-to1yf oh, yes, Canada too! 🇨🇦
We know hershy will not allow the British version of the egg here in America since they had real Cadbury banned with real cream so they would not have competition with their granular sugar eggs no real cream filled eggs
@@tylerbuckley4661Oh I didn't know this. Please explain what happened? We aren't getting real creme? I buy these at the CVS and Rite Aid all the time.
@@tylerbuckley4661Hershey does a lot for the community including but not limited to providing a school and housing for underprivileged kids; creating a whole town for its workers and employing a large percentage of the surrounding area...but go ahead and try to paint them as the villains. Maybe do some research before saying silly shit on the internet.
I am a huge fan of the "Flake", I first had one when my sister, mother and I visited family in England when I was 11. Have loved them ever since and for years would get them as X-mas gifts from our relatives. Now, I order them online, thank goodness for the internet.
I love those !
We get them in the shops in aussie too.
I have never had one it will be on my list
Used to be my fav 30 yrs ago during my studies in UK
Ok. I am not being rude. I just want to understand. What do you like about Flake? I never had a chance to ask somebody in person and not to sound rude. I like dark chocolate and I let it melt in my mouth. I understand this is a milk one but it does not melt. Where is the magic?
I once bit into a Cadbury Egg and pulled out a one inch shard of glass! Since the shard had the classic egg mold marks on it, Cadbury confirmed it came from their factory. Apparently a mold had broken and a few eggs had escaped with the sharp mold pieces held within the candy. Thankfully, I was not injured. An attorney assured me that I stood to make a ton of money in a lawsuit, but I just couldn't bring myself to hurt the company which has given me so much tasty pleasure over the years. I settled for a few coupons and that was that.
P.S. I would never buy the 30% less sugar version, because I only eat one or two of the eggs a year, and by golly they had better be the super sweet originals...
my favorite cadbury product is PICNIC!!!!!!!!!! too bad i can only find it in australia now. so much more expensive now and yet so much smaller. been eating that thing since my teen years. reminds me of lion.
I live in the US, so impressed by this program, I'll be searching for this candy in all the stores near me! Great job.
Also made in Claremont, Tasmania,
Australia 🦘🇦🇺
And its so much nicer and less gritty than the chocolate from the UK, shows there is a big difference in the recipe.
Whittakers is far superior quality. Cadbury has a waxy consistency in Australia
@@tokotoko3592 Whittakers is very good chocolate (though quite expensive), Cadbury Aus may seem waxier as it has a higher menting point due Australias warmer climate.
@@Tas-Devil Fair point, I hadn’t considered the melting point.
I agree with the Whittakers price too, I generally only buy when it’s on special at Woolies.
I hate when they change ingredients for cheaper crap or trying to cut sugar. It’s candy, it’s not meant to be healthy. Stop ruining things
They’ve definitely changed the recipe. It’s not as velvety as it used to be. And it’s oddly a lot sweeter and waxier than it used to be
@@jigaryI thought it was just me not loving them like I used to 😢
I like the splashes of rich purple paint they have around their factory
The idea behind the less sugar marketing is to encourage people to buy more than they would normally. Thus increasing profits.
Hey, are you guys going to release the lower sugar version in the states at some point? I'm in Florida and I would love to try it. It might sell better here, our country (for some reason) thinks Hershey's is good and they are bitter and taste like cardboard. So if the UK isn't much a fan of the lower sugar , try it here 😜
Chocolate in the uk is awful
@@MrMRW14 In America they are only required to put 10% cacao in their chocolate whereas Europe is required to have 20% or more. That's why it tastes better. There is literally more chocolate content in their chocolate and there is also more fat content required.
Hershey bought the rights to make and sell Cadbury chocolates in the US, and unfortunately the company uses a different recipe in the States (imports of Cadbury chocolate from Britain are banned in the US). Cadbury in the US is basically made with Hershey's lame chocolate.
@@HannahGreendale Different fat content though. Cadbury they make differently. I looked it up when I was watching this.
Cadbury uk is 100% banned from america. Only way youll be tasting that is if you go to uk 😂😂
I am an American and Cadbury is literally my favorite chocolate. It’s superior to any other chocolate I have had.
i can't believe 6 creme eggs per person in the UK, that's insane. I would eat one or 2 every easter (not anymore) so who is eating them all, its crazy
1 or 2 eggs every Easter
Fatso’s like me 👍
Uh, that would be me! I can't wait for Easter every year! Those Cadbury creme eggs are my favorite chocolate candy. Guess it's good they only come out at Easter, or I'd be in trouble!
I really don’t like the crème 😂 never been a fan of the texture or taste
3:12 as well as, COCOA BUTTER; LACTOSE; LECITHIN (SOY); PGPR, EMULSIFIER; NATURAL FLAVOR AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR.
Those eggs!! They are leaps and bounds my favorite candy!!! At 46 years old I've eaten a lot of different types of candy! There will never be a better bite of heavenly goodness! I wish I had a lifetime supply! If there was only a contest to actually win just pure eggs, I would spend every day trying to win!!! Thank you Cadbury for creating magic in a beautifully, colorfully wrapped chocolate egg!!! 💯❤️🥚❤️🥚❤️🥚❤️
I’m almost 44 and they have been my favorite candy forever
I buy Cadbury chocolate every month. Didn't even read the label. Now I will. Thanks for making it healthy for me 🎉
I am sorry to say that their milk chocolate is not as good as before. It’s still better than Hershey’s. I think the new one has lower quality vanilla.
they really changed the cadbury egg.... used to be epic
and about 1/3 bigger
Mmmmm…
Not just Britain, but the world over! ❤😍
16:05 In the USA, you can get “Screme Eggs” in September/October. They have a green yolk and are sold for Halloween.
I was so excited to learn about the less sugar bar from this only to be disappointed to learn it's been discontinued already. 😢
Probably because people realised it has the same calories 🤣
I'm from the U.S. and I love the Cadbury Creme Eggs warm, just about soft enough melted. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
They have universal healthcare so it’s about saving money lol
I just got a glimpse of the major US foodie, Mondelez who bought Cadbury. They also tried to buy Hershey's USA but we're unsuccessful. They are huge and I loved Rittz cracker, not so much anymore.
Nothing is the same anymore but still love choc❤
As a kid a creme egg bought from woolworths the creme would be so runny it would go everywhere. They were lethal on a hot day lol. Now if you buy one from the shop on a hot day, the fondant is like a paste. Terrible
Delightful documentary! As an associate working in WalMart Store #2319, decided to put my favorite Cadbury Easter candy on a suitable endcap. A Cadbury distributor visited the store and was pleasantly surprised to see her company's product prominently displayed.😊
Oh man, I do miss the UK and my favorite chocolate bar.
The music along with this lovely video put a smile on my face, made my day😊🍫
I "allow" myself one creme egg around Easter/springtime. LOL and I agree with the gentleman who said it's best to not think about how much sugar you're eating. Hahaha
45:10 At first I was impressed with Cadbury for trying to reduce the sugar. But then I was as shocked when I heard its barely any difference in calories. They went through all that with the reduced sugar recipe but *didn't* reduce the calories? I'm as dumbfounded as this lady 😆 I discovered the reduced sugar recipe as of 2024 has been taken off the shelves due to low sales. Who can blame consumers if they're not eating someting healthier lol.
'can we have a show of hands' *hands already go up* '.. for those who think it is more bitter'
Those sorts of group testing sessions are so sketchy lol
Exactly.
Man i would make good friends with the person throwing out the choclate!!!
One of my favorite chocolates.
It is now ruined since it was sold it isno longer Cadburys I took my grandchildren to Cadbury World in the 80's when it was still Cadburys. Very interesting indeed
Today I found out the drumming gorilla wasn’t a phill collins music video…. What a great day for a huge smile!
Lowering the sugar content is healthier and more important than lowering the calories. I would try it.
Fun episode, thanks for uploading! I don’t particularly like the eggs themselves but always wondered how they were made
likey add artificial sweeteners to replace the sugar. or mix of both
The opaloompas had me laughing from the start ahahaha theyre so comical every candy factory should have opaloompas
The Frys one just doesnt taste right to me
Don't betray people for that Turkish Delight 😅
Oh my I love Cadbury, we don’t get them year round in the USA 🇺🇸 so I try to stock upon around Easter❣️❣️❣️❣️
“Within 10 days, they’ve put on half a stone” - those are rookie numbers!!
Some random dude putting the egg up his sleeve and reverse shoplifting is weird....
Reason why I love the movie CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY ❤
The original movie is called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the name of the book and the new 2005 version of the movie, which isn't as good as the original.
In Australia they released a new block of chocolate called the value size, it was 30% smaller but cost 40% more than the previous size.
Hahaha! Gotta love marketing.
Absolute pricks lol
and 100% fail.
Why did they stop making snow flake...that was great
Make it makes sense. Perfect!
Remember when the eggs where good and runny inside. Now they suck and are almost solid. They lost the nostalgia. 😔
