The "contour circuit" seems an unacceptable compromise the Pearl Acoustics Sibelius has overcome. They'd be top of my list of purist single driver solid oak monitors. Waiting for your review, Steve 🎵🎶🤫🎶🎵
I can concur as an owner of a pair of Pearl Acoustic Speakers . As a long time lurker Steve, you must get a pair in for review. Keep the content coming.
Loved the new music at the beginning of your show. Little bits and pieces of high-quality music. Add to a show like yours. It’s what originally got me to start watching the Darko channel. He probably has the highest quality best sounding transition music. Hopefully you’ll be adding more, perhaps also in transitions.
I distributed high end Eyeware for many years. I loved to do open days with my best resellers and some interesting moments confirmed many of my theories on how to sell a product. Being able to tell a story about your product is so important. The choices he made is because he knows his client base and what they want to achieve. My eyewear partners sold the best eyewear regardless of price. They wanted style and innovation. I have also decided to take my hifi journey to a new level and try and find an easy to drive loudspeaker. I want to be able to drive them with a tube amp one day ( which I don’t own yet) . It’s all about the journey. Thanks Steve
Idk... seems like too many compromises made for the choice of cabinet material and single driver. I'd be more interested in the source point 8 for a quarter of the price 🤔
It’s nice to see a full range speaker with some passive filters. However, I’d really like to see some measurements. Is there a baffle step circuit as well?
just a comment to trigger the payment algorithm. speaker grill cloth stretches, so is a very forgiving material to work with, should one ever need a cosmetic modification, or to keep off the dust, or away from curious little fingers, when not in use.
It's maybe $500 in drivers, contour network and connectors and elsewhere hand-built furniture from solid wood. A tough sell towards DIYers like the Sibelius speakers. Maybe easier to sell towards people who are used to custom, handmade furniture.
As a woodworker, I feel that price is fair and reasonable. There is a lot more than just the costs of construction to handmade loudspeaker building. Stand-up guy with a nice product.
@@robertyoung1777- as a woodworker, what value would assign to the cabinets themselves ? BTW, no denial that the speakers seem excellent and that the manufacturer is an honest thoughtful and pleasant intelligent person.
I just enquirer about a 4K loudspeaker made by Epos. It’s all made in China . No thanks. I guess you have to look at his business models. Just buying wood, stocking all those components, designing jigs and tools, paying someone’s salary etc. What loudspeakers do you own? Let’s do some reverse engineering on your setup. From factory price to reseller is about a three time markup.
@@gdwlaw5549 The new Epos ES14N costs $4200. It is not sold direct so therefore is marked up to around 50% for the dealer network compared to the $8500 Raven 3 speakers that are sold direct. Does it cost 50% more to build speakers in the USA vs. China? I'm not so sure. My speakers are the Rosso Fiorentino Pienza 2 speakers. They are built in Italy and cost about $5500. They are not sold direct. So for Rosso to make a profit they probably sell them to dealers for about $3000. If Rosso F. sold them direct they could make the same profit selling at $3000 a pair. I question why the Raven 3 speakers are being sold direct for $8500. If you saw up close how well Rosso Fiorentino speakers are made you may wonder also.
Hi Steve, I wish you asked some probing questions. 1. Why solid wood, with its problems, when Baltic birch ply or MDF/HDF with cabinet bracing is generally preferred? Is it to avoid veneers? Or keep a local woodworking shop busy? 2. Why a wizzer cone, with its problems, requiring a contouring circuit as complex as a two-way Xover? Has the designer studied the work of Mark Fenlon at Mark Audio & Marek at Cube Audio in avoiding or improving upon a whizzer cone? 3. Your difficulty in placing the speakers to get good sound indicates a serious problem, has the designer published detailed measurements?
I love the aesthetic of these speakers, and also that they are high sensitivity
Very nice conversation. These look like they are a winner for those of us not into bling.
Fern & Roby makes beautiful and excellent sounding speakers and turntables
Guy & his team/family is so lucky to have Steve introduce his speaker to the Audiophiliac audience.
That's a good looking speaker, IMO.
completely agree
I'm learning woodworking right now and this is really interesting.

Pursuit Perfect System does this really well.

The new intro is refreshing
I agree!
That’s nice speaker. I never knew about them. I hope I can look for them at an upcoming show
I think it's a fine product! Good engineering and no mushigushi! Straight forward! I like to hear them someday!
So, Steve...what do YOU really think?
"silly me" he quipped.
Of course Steve was expecting that there would be no circuitry with a full range driver 🙄
New intro is fun; put a smile on my face. Tho old timey, where the original is much more modern & probably would be more popular today.
When a full range driver needs filtering to smooth its response it is because of the cabinet design.
Highly efficient LPAF. (Life Partner Acceptance Factor)

Hello, Steve !!
viewer system of the day
New intro isnt as good as the old one. Makes me want to sing Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs.... They're calling again. 😂
Not a very inert cabinet; driver mounted to plywood - I can’t imagine it damping out ringing/vibration.

$8500! Selling direct. That's funny. Now at $4000 I could take them a little more seriously.

American made.. Where ..what his company...complete back story...how many years in production...his background ?
Please watch the review and take a look at the website.
Doesn't Martin Guitars use Richlite for some of their fretboards? Would love to see more of this type of content - thanks.
Gibson also did for quite awhile when ebony became hard to source
