      AjWavvy,
      I have had this same issue my self. I actually wear a pair of Dr. Martens that have a very tight fitting and short top that conceal well under pants. You might try that.

    Those fit tips work.
    Over the years I have used several of them.
    Did you cut the sleeves off a regular sweat shirt to make that quarter zip pull over ?

      Awesome we are glad these tips work for you!
      The quarter zip is just a vest, no custom alterations. It’s great!

    Boot fits perfect in every way for me but it feels a little too loose around the calf

      Yeah that's how they all are lol. It's normal.
      They do make boots that are tight around the calf, but they're usually made for women

      Dealing with the same issue with my 14 year old son. He looks better in tighter jeans. He's 5'9" 144lbs but his boots shaft is really long and pokes out of his pants and he hates that. So he wears bigger pants that are flared and it just doesn't suit him. Trying to figure out how to make the shaft tighter to his calves so it doesn't poke out of tighter jeans.

      Have you found out anything?because bigger pants aren’t my style either and I’m also losing lots of weight.

      I follow this guys channel & he does reviews on boots & fit all the time. You may wanna use a small leather strap or shoe string to wrap the shaft for a better fit. Hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/-_8ZTNzEPRY/v-deo.htmlsi=jmaRLleVUxb-r8bq

    I have a new pair of Chiso’s boots. Great boots. My right foot is a perfect fit but my left is a little loose. They come with very good insoles. How can I tighten the left boot? Will the heel counter form to my left foot? Boot socks sounds very helpful. Thanks.

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Рік тому +1

      Mark,
      That is definitely a tough one. For me my left foot is slightly bigger than my right foot so I struggle with the same issue. What I usually do is take out the insoles that come with it and replace them with something just a little bit thicker than the one that comes standard. The hope is that the right one will compress overtime and not be too tight and the left one will hopefully fill-in where the boot is fitting loose.
      A cheaper option is to single sock on the right foot and double sock on the left.
      Let me know if this helps,

      or try putting one of those flat unmolded cushion insoles from the drug store under the insole that comes with the boot on the loose boot only...I have the same problem and I am thinking that will help...did you find something that worked for you?

    Is there a specific kind of oil you should use to oil your boots?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Рік тому

      I have used either mink oil or neats foot oil. I also will spray WD 40 on my work boots from time to time and that seam to work great. I’m sure however that isn’t the best in the long run.
      Thanks for the question!

    Howdy SC, great channel! It’s this vid that gave me the gumption to cut the scallop on a new pair of utilitarian boots. So happy I did that! Now they are comfy, customized, & unique. It works. You wear the cowboy boots, the cowboy boots don’t wear you. They make me stand little prouder.

    @ Dust Rabbit
    Gives me confidence, stand prouder and feel more stable when I wear them. In Michigan I’m usually the only one wearing them where I meet friends and family. I have 6 pair an I may slit and maybe sew 3 pair.

    I’m glad I found you. I have an expensive pairs of boots that fit great but the shank is a hollow bell when they are on. I even tried pulling excess sock over the top. It makes my pants have a ledge, so embarrassing. Salesperson should be better trained. I can pinch a 2” double material. They said it’s the only way to get my foot inside a boot to get the angles to work. Either way they still make floppy sound that triggers anxiety that one time shut me down because everyone said they didn’t hear anything. I’m cutting them tonight and going for a walk after I soak them in water.
    YOU ROCK DIDE!! Well for this instance maybe YOU COUNTRY FELLA!! Oh I got it COWBOY UP!!
    Should I have a pair of boots customers made, Bespoke if you will?

      David,
      Let me know how things go with your braking method on your boots you currently have. Yes I would say custom boots would certainly be an option for you if you continue to have these issues.

    Welp...I guess I'll have to try the dunk method.
    I've got a pair of Wolverine engineer boots that stretched a 1/2 size bigger after wearing them for a month.
    I've tried putting two insoles in them and all it does is crowd my toes while still leaving a gap in the area in front of my ankle...causing my foot to slide forward and backwards when I walk.
    I had duck-taped another chopped off insole to the instep area there to take up the slack but it wouldn't stay stuck on when I got sweaty during the summer.
    If dunking the boot works I'll be a happy somebody...daggone $200 boots that won't fit, burns my grits!

    Just go to a western boot store and get properly sized & fitted on a Brannock device. All bootmakers use different lasts, so a particular size will fit differently from brand to brand. Do not waste money buying a boot bigger or smaller than your known size unless you’re familiar with that boot brand. There is no reason to unnecessarily ruin your boots buy cutting your shafts like he’s done. Just buy a boot with deeper scallops or invest in getting a custom pair made for you if buying off-the-shelf isn’t an option for you. Cobblers can also install gussets that are far more aesthetically pleasing than just slicing deeper scallops on one’s boots.

    My right foot is significantly thicker and wider than my left so my left boot flops and my right is super tight any suggestions on how to even it out.

    I bought harness boots and I love them but they rub my ankles. What can I do to help with that?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Рік тому +1

      Pat,
      For the most part I think changing what type of sock you are using would be the best option. If you’re not currently double socking maybe try that, and if that doesn’t work try wool socks. Let me know how that works!

    i tried on boots at the store and the 6 was super tight and my toes touched the end of the boot and hurt but the 6.5 was good but feels kind of big. should i go with the tighter or bigger??

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Рік тому +2

      Definitely go with the larger size. When the boot breaks in it will conform to your foot size.
      Another option is to get the larger size and put a new shoe insole to help make the boot fit properly.

    If you are going to cut into the shaft of a pair of boots go a little bit at a time...if not you might make it too loose...
