Handline fishing is pure Pleasure and flyfishing is similar cause the rod is the means to bring a weightless bait to its destination: you have the flyline in your hand and you can feel same sensations. Many years ago I went handfishing for 'doradas' with two sardinian friends: we left the shore with a rowing boat before sunrise and we reached a little islet paying attention in keeping silence. Our bait was abaloni (little fish can't take it) and we used 0.30 nylon line (fluoro didn't exist yet) and a single forged curved 4/0 hook. We removed abaloni from the shell and put on the hook and then used the line like a rotating sling to go as far as possible. When the bait reached the bottom we slowly retrieved the line until straight, we took a little stone, wrapped the line on it and set the stone on a visibile point. Before the stone we took three or four metres of dead line: when the fish takes the bait you see falling the stone and dorada can take the bait without feeling tension, pulling the dead line which can flow freely. Then you set the hook and Battle begins 👊😎. Pure pleasure 🤙))
Can someone please tell me what is he using for bait? Is it the fish waste left after cutting the fish, if so, is it of any particular type of fish or any fish waste would suffice? I would be highly obliged if someone could please guide me.
Lololol... tem dias... tem dias.... estes são matreiros... têm a escola toda, mesmo assim ele conseguiu tirar alguns do mar, mesmo com água sem estar turva.
Yes, in other times this fish was also caught with cubes of cheese, as this bait is free, there is no need to buy cheese...lolo.... and these fish are used to feeding with this type of bait that the fishermen send to sea....thanks for your comment.

Hello, I think the line should be between 0.18 to 0.25, the bait could be sardines, shrimp, squid, in this case it was salted mackerel.
