    it take 0.14 eth that equal 140 finney. in the contract you mint 7 dates (7*10= 70 finney). so if i understand correct there's 70 finney= 0.07 eth (263.1871 USD) cut by blockchain to just put the contract on blockchain? but what in case only upload the contract on blockchain (without mint, keep token to my self) is it still will cost me money?

    • @KieCodes
      @KieCodes  2 роки тому

      Everything you write on to the blockchain will cost gas. The more you write the more gas it takes. My deployment was especially expensive because I minted 9 date tokens during the deployment process. So not minting, will make it cheaper. But not for free.

    You're like the Mark Rober of coding videos! .. I honestly find watching coding videos so boring most the time. This is a really great series. I like how you took a 'Mark Rober' approach of building these videos' content, it really kept my interest the whole time and was fun! One piece of feedback I'd say would be to maybe provide a summary of some of the hurdles you've encountered, even similar to how Rober does, simply mentioning what hurdles were overcome and high level solutions in your outro .. Really great work though and looking forward for more!

    sir what if a contract dont have a erc721? does this mean that the contract cant mint NFT?

    • @KieCodes

      Hey. Basically yes. ERC721 is a standard for NFTs that your contract must adhere to. You don't need OpenZeplin for that, but that would mean you need to implement everything yourself. Using OpenZeplin speeds the development up tremendously.

    Hey there, first off great videos! Superb editing and content :)
    Second off I have a question: what are the perks of creating your own smart contract, as opposed to using OpenSea's own smart contract? (aside from the fact that using the OpenSea one is too easy)
    Specifically if you just want to put NFT's up for sale - so no extra functionality beyond that, like letting other people mint their own NFT from your contract.

    • @KieCodes

    • @KieCodes
      @KieCodes  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Freddy. If you want to have ppl mint your NFT from your own website, you'll need our own smart contract. On OpenSea you basically mint your NFT first and resell it. Additionally if you want to have some more utility for your tokens (like integration in some game) your own smart contract might also be needed. But if all of that is not of any interest to you, going down the upload to OpenSea route is perfectly fine.

      So either drop your solidity version to the one I use in my truffle-config.js or use one of the units above. 1 finney equals 0.01 ether.

      @@KieCodes many thanks, what about the numbers. till now i can find only the meaning of 86400, 719468, 365. also can i ask about the resource that get from it the correct numbers of days before 1970 (when i calculate it manually get another number as i use 30 day for every month). is there's way to understand the rest of function?

    Maybe this will sound dumb because i am totally ignorant about Smart Contracts and Open sea... And I am just at the start of the video, but I am checking one of the many multi-edition projects on open see, and a bit shocked that the metadata of the project is hosted on an external link (that the creator provided), with all metadata, like description, attributes, "traits",)... So what if the creator's website disappears? All the metadata is lost/missing? Can this affect the value of the NFT asset? Isn't there a way to embed this into the smart contract itself or it's too expensive to do that?

      That's something I did for this projects simplicity. And because I didn't knew better. 😅 Remember, this was the first time I was building such an application myself. Today I would try to pin everything into the IPFS (inter-planetary file system) which basically assigns a unique hash to each file/folder uploaded to it and therefore is not simply modifiable.

    i want to make the same, but can i ,over time, add nfts to the collection. or do i need to publish everything once

    • @KieCodes
      @KieCodes  2 роки тому

      You can do that. You can add meta data and images for unrevealed token and then update the data on your server or the IPFS when you want to publish new images. So ppl can buy your NFTs without even knowing what they will get and yu don't have to have all the randomness on chain.

      @@KieCodes following up on this concept, is this known as "delayed reveal" in which users can mint "blindly" on your website, using a placeholder metadata/uri/image, but then once its on opensea you can see what you've bought?
      thanks! your content is amazing.

      Yeah kind of. But the time of the reveal is not necessarily connected to its appearance on opensea.

    Hey KIE, really nice tutorial.
    I wanted to ask you, how did you made all nft go to the same collection?
    I am having some trouble understanding that.

      Hey. All token minted by one smart contract are all part of a collection on opensea.

      @@KieCodes Mi only problem for this is that, aparently the contract is bieng transfered to me by: 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000. So i can't edit the collection on open sea, i can only view it. I must have some kind of configuration set wrong.
