that first canvas was kind of sweet. he said he would rage but was still very moderate and calm while complaining. i get that he's mad but i love that he did not fall for all that ink master grudge drama.
anti fant many of the veterans I know how to keep a tight lid on their anger especially the older ones for many reasons. Years of strict discipline, the training, military values, their high level character, knowing that if they do blow up on someone their training gives them the ability to actually hurt someone, etc.

It's from Ink Master Redemption, so I think they're supposed to be "looking busy" while waiting to see which of their angry canvases comes through the door to angry with them loudly for tv. I wouldn't be surprised if they were given hints or lines on what to say considering how poorly some are delivered though..

Nah fam, the clients signed up for a free tattoo bc they don’t want to do the work to find an artist that does the style they like OR pay real money for a good tattoo. I don’t understand how anyone leaves surprised that they got a bad one.
Ask anyone tatted up and they'll tell you that often the story that goes with the tattoo is better than the tattoo itself. Not to mention these peoples "imperfect" tattoos are still better than a ton of the average tattoos out there. And there is always laser if you hate it that much.

@Miss Le Blanc: Haha No. Obviously my comment is to be taken in jest, or at the least, with a little bit of salt. 😊 (Every Vet I've ever met has been very kind to me, but I'm sure that's because I've shown him or her the utmost respect.) However, with some of the stories I've been told, whether about WWII, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan or any other place, I pity the person who messes with the wrong one.
@Miss Le Blanc: Dang! I'm sorry. Now you've got me wondering what qualifies as "evil old bastard" and "pretty mean." My uncle was severely injured in a mortar attack over in Iraq. I still don't know how he survived it. He spent so many months in the hospital! It took many operations, grafts, tons of physical therapy and help with PTSD to get him well enough to go home. As a little girl, I always thought he was a pretty nice guy. I wondered how different things would be when I saw him after he got home. Even though he went through so many difficult things, he didn't let any of it get him down. He is an absolute SWEETHEART! He's more kind now than I remember him being as a child. I won't knock a Vet just because he or she isn't pleasant. A lot of Vets are mistreated and unappreciated. Those who served in Vietnam experienced some pretty horrific things. The ones who survived were treated like crap when they got home. I've talked to some that said they were spit on and publicly harassed. Anyway, I hope you have better experiences in the future. Best of luck!

I love how Kyle’s excuse for the altercations/bad tattoo was that “black and grey is the shit that I do” yet black and grey is exactly what they did and it faded right away
shit care makes the best tatto fade into shit, they only need to submerge it in hot water and go on the sun with it while healing, not use some kind of tatto cream and boom it will fade out
Some places on that tattoo had inconsistent fade out, some places where it was dark faded and other areas stayed, unless that guy used crappy ink idk
What I've never had a tattoo wash off on me that sounds irresponsible.

@@exoblade7620 It's also to do with your inks. "Grey wash" tattoos (like Kyle's) don't hold well over time. It's why you should be packing blacks into grey pieces because diluted grey washes don't hold up very well.

Naw, that flag is perfectly fine. Traditional tattoos have a wide variety of variations given that they are not realistic. This is manufactured drama for TV.
@@JamesMinerTattoo indeed, when you realize how much fake drama and cuts to make it look time crushing, the show really loses its appeal, you can find testemonies from people who were tattooed on the show, on how much fake drama there is, also when they yell the time left, thats not a thing, thats filmed after.
Also in all of these... the artist that fucked up is coincidentally about the only person left in the shop, ofcourse he knew what was coming, also sometimes its even some that are already voted out, who are... for some reason still in the shop, what a coincidence.

I hate when the artists say ‘well stuff like this gets me sent home’ as if they have to live the rest of their lives with a garbage tattoo they never wanted in the first place
but to be fair going to a tattoo competition will never have a good outcome, especially since some of these canvas ask for way too much
Ultimately the artist has to meet the challenge and the canvas knows that as well. If you aren't willing to get something that meets the challenge then don't volunteer to be a canvas.
I totally agree but on the show's end, they have traditional guys taking on portraits and stuff like that. Each artist pertains to their own style and it can only be stretched so far.
KORIE it’s also a free fucking tattoo and a lot of these people are asking for tats that they would spend $600-$700 on. The canvases often have unrealistic expectations in the amount of time the artists are given. It’s still up to the artist to do the best they can with what they are given, but there have been situations where the canvas has really hurt the artist.
@@tradeka4206 Those canvases are the same ones that go "An ink master should be able to do anything." All while asking for a full color, full rib tattoo after previously only sitting for an hour and getting a small tribal tattoo on their shoulder. 🙄
It's a shame that the colour faded on that skull cause it did look cool...

Tbh I think that was probably the guys fault, not because of Kyle. It's one thing for a tattoo not to hold because of skin trauma but if you're doing aftercare right whole tattoos don't just disappear.

Sometimes these tattoo artists act like the people they're tattooing are robots and aren't capable of freethinking. I mean, I know it's a free tattoo and all, but damn. Some of these artists need to take a course on humanity.

@@brett8460 That's why I do't like calling people canvas. As psychology student I know names and words can have influence on how you think. Some of us seems to be immune to that but some not. So if they all talk like customers are piece of cloth some start believing they are and what they think doesn't matter.
But this precisely is fault of producer. If you make sth like this you need people acting as customers fit challenge. Because what? If I was tattooed only in black and grey than they pick me for challenge with color what should I do? Ruin design of my tattoos as whole by having sth which doesn't fit or make artist fail/tattoo himself?

God I would never go to a tattoo competition for a tattoo. The stress they're under will rarely produce a great tattoo. There are some people who can produce, but I would never take that chance.

Almost every single one of them had a problem with their tattoos while they were being tattooed.
Honestly, I don’t think the “I have to live with this on my skin, I want to make sure it’s something I want” is an excuse for not going with what is being asked for in the challenge. If you want something specific or something that doesn’t go with the challenge, don’t go on ink master. It’s that simple 🤷🏼♀️
They are still living with it forever. Its not their job to help the artists win.

If you want a cool tattoo that's going to be exactly what you want don't *volunteer for the tattoo competition show that has specific requirements for the tattoo you'll receive* It's literally the entire concept of the show: here's a tattoo challenge with requirements for the tattoo, do the requirements to win.
What part of that do these people not understand?
CalmCuke Most of them actually do it for the accolades. They could make far more money just tattooing at their usual shops than what they make here for the months of filming.

I never understood why tattoo artists have such a problem with the clients or “Canvas” having specific requests. They are putting something on their body that will stay on for the rest of their life! I get that some people can be demanding and not respect the art. But like come on. It’s still THEIR tattoo!

Well, imo its free and its a competition which has specific requirements. You're not really signing up for a tattoo you want. And in real life the client isnt always right, tattoo artists say no to clients all the time.

@@toniseiler426 I don't think so. I'm from the Netherlands and the Dutch ink masters was all about artistry, cool flash challenges, and tattoos. I remember an episode where one of the artists won an advantage where he could give another artist 30min shorter time, and he felt bad. It's about quality, not drama.

I'd imagine that all of these "canvases" signed a waiver stating the possible outcomes of the tattoo and the lack of liability on the artists and show. Much like Hell's Kitchen w/ Gordon Ramsay, they have in paperwork, that you may not get a meal. lol. So, what does get done, if anything? Are they offered cover ups/free changes? curious.

@@ReapedLegacy the skull wasn't bad, sure it washed out like hell but we have no clue what went on after the fact with the tattoo. Kyle could have put too little ink in to cause it...it could have also been that big boy just practiced bad tattoo care, he has other ink but without seeing their quality there's no way to judge. With a close look, we could very well see a bunch of smudged, blown out ink from improper care. The only sad thing about it was him and Kyle were both so hyped up and angry because it would likely be a fairly easy touch up to get it right back to judging condition.
