If your basics [formula of (a+b)² and (a+b)³ ] is clear and you have solved all the questions of this type , you don't need to write the whole process. You can solve these questions in your mind and it will take less than 5 seconds depending on your speed and practice. And then you will realize you are doing the same thing shown in this video because this method has directly come from the basic method. He has just skipped the first 2 or 3 steps and directly jumped on the last step and made it a rule. Thats why the rule is not universal and changing with the power given in the question.
And don't forget there will not be only this question in the exam so if you start memorising every tricks there will be chances to messed-up in exam.
So make your basics clear. And even if you are memorising things to save more time , don't just do it blindly . First understand then memorise . And also try understand where the trick has come from then you will never forget them. And one day you will also be able to create some new tricks yourself.
