DMR's are best used 200-400meters, where AR damage is falling off and they can't full-auto you, but you're close enough for rapid shots. Also great for engineer's who want to use a rangefinder for their scoped RPG's
In terms of damage the only good DMR is the M110 (the ar 10 with the smallest mag), The MK20 and the MK14 are just worse than the battle rifles on the AR category (Scar H and FAL)
best way to spot hands down is the drone. Go to high altitude, find the enemy, middle click. Using drones does not require a line of sight with the enemy or the drone, and at high altitudes drones are completely quiet from the ground. Nine times out of ten enemies do not even notice they have been spotted, and forces them to look up, away from enemies to find the drone. Even then, all of their bullets will miss with out small the drone is, and snipers struggle to lead them with how fast they move. pro tip: you can also access drones from past lives as long as they have not been shot down meaning you do not need to create a new drone when you die.
I would say the main reason for staying static, preferable prone is that people do not notice you if you have a good position. Sometimes i can stay behind enemy lines for half a match.
I find no matter what I basically use medium range scope, I've hit a few 1700 meter snipes, also I change zeroing to my scroll wheel instead of alt+scroll wheel so I can zero while scoping and not have that weird out of scope animation. You also didn't talk about supressors at all, sniping with supressors makes it super fun. For pistol I always use deagle, 2 shot basically always, 1 shot to head except support.
A little sniper tip for solo players: If you're a sniper and you don't care about your squad, then leave the squad as soon as you find a good sniper spot. Otherwise, your squadmates will spawn on you and give away your location with their sniper rifles and glint, or they might start shooting with a machine gun from 300 meters away or do other foolish things. Believe me, it happens all the time. Bonus Tip: If you're using a scope with glint to improve visibility or shoot from a greater distance, consider adding a second sight to your weapon, like a Mid Range 3.5x or similar. This way, you can switch quickly between sights and spot enemies whom you wouldn't be able to see without revealing your position with the glint. It's a great way to save yourself the need for binoculars.
Best thing WZ did to me was be an aggressive sniper on frontline flanks. I just position myself 100m parallel to the main engagements and just take heads aiming to the side. Takes some patience when it gets rough but always average out 50+ kills with 10-30 deaths.
A good bonus tip as I've shot quite a few folks doing this: Don't hide in the grass from mid to long range enemies, they will not see it at range and you'll stick out like a sore thumb.
New player here, had a lot of success with the m110. Using a canted red dot makes it semi viable at short range and the mid scope makes it pretty potent at the 200-600m range. Working in sniper teams the frequent hit markers work well at softening up targets for your bolt actioners and two hits with the m110 is often enough for a kill (snipers I've encountered will often take the first hit for that opportune shot back) . Throw in the occasional single headshot kill vs targets not keeping their hp topped off. With a decent sense of the bullet can get the odd kill at 900+m
Being behind enemy lines and waiting patiently for enemy groups to pass over your hiding position is in my opinion the best way to snipe. Just being in the back lines taking care of enemy snipers and other clueless players is the best way to be an annoyance to the enemy team, and if you stay hidden you can divert major enemy groups from the active fight to search for you wich can win games at times.
A nice QoL change would be to allow us to turn on/off the "distance to objective" in UI settings (I understand it's shown when we're given an order). Being able to quickly glance at the distance to an objective can free snipers up from having to use the rangefinder or higher-tier binoculars. Additionally, I'd like the ability to key bind "reset zero".
I have been a PUBG player and started playing Battlebit Remastered recently. I mostly use the very first DMR which we unlock, and here is what I've learnt about it. - Use a canted sight to use in close combat - any medium scope for long range - hide somewhere, and with equal intervals, one tap the enemies. It takes some time to develop muscle memory on clicking those intervals, but once you learn it, it becomes easy to fight with DMR - when the enemies swarm in, I use Suicide-C4, Spawn back with an AR, and clear out the area
the Isle map actually has a insane building to camp out in once you build and secure it. It can hold a chokepoint alleyway, hold both directions enemies can go to and you can see some of site as well. I usually get 15 kills before someone notices me in there.
Yeah, but it's too obvious and in proper match it's under near constant fire from all sides. When people do sniping on Isle, it's the first thing they give a look before looking anywhere else
That was some solid fieldcraft right there when you educated us on silhouette, one of the 5 S's of concealment xD. Those long range shots were amazing to watch as always, thank you.
About “zeroing”, alt + scroll can be annoying so go to setting and find “zeroing increase/decrease”(or sumn similar, idr what it called specifically) it’s unbind by default so bind it just to make life a little easier, while you’re here go to “vehicle” section and find “switch next/previous seat”(again idr what it called exactly) it’s also unbind by default, bind it so you can stop reaching for F1-12(and take screenshot by mistake), also go to “social” section find “squad menu” (ofc unbind by default) bind it to something that you can press fast, “squad menu” is “Fortnite build mode” or “hold the ping button so you can build walls, call supply, spawn rally point and quickly ping attack/defend objective”
I do want to note that even if you are not doing well, if your enemies are aware of you, you are still helping your team very well! When a player is aware that a sniper can kill them at any moment, that puts them at a slight disadvantage because at best you are giving a distraction for your team, and at worst you are giving them another threat to be aware about. It’s sorta like playing spy in tf2. Your presence alone may not be getting any high kill counts, but it can still be helpful for your team.
Speaking of semi auto sniping: i enjoy m110 with long barrel. It gives 2 hit kills at everybody with every armor except exo one, and when you get used to the recoil, its refire time is much shorter than bolt's one. The main role i fulfill is clearing enemies shooting out of a building or flanking a massive fight, always focusing on 100-400m distances and avoiding duels with snipers. This can be really effective for people like me, who don't fire accurately enough to go for headsots all the time, but requires map knowledge
I'd say a missed shot is worse than a shot not taken if it give your position away. I suggest use judgement and try not to get greedy with kills if it means the enemy is going to figure you out quicker "Never pounce on an advantage as soon as it appears. Wait till it stands to have maximum effect"
Now factor in opportunity costs ;) If you end up spending too much time not being effective, you could've gone for it anyway and even if you died you would respawn and find another opportunity instead faster. It's obviously very hard to judge though.
whenever I play battlebit and not play supportive classes, I always volunteer to flank enemy snipers. I can confirm that prone snipers are sitting ducks which you can even kill using starter pistols from a decent range, while mobile snipers with medium scopes often outmaneuver my attempts.
I know you're known for sniping, but I wouldn't mind a class guide for every class in the game. This vid had a lot of good info in it and I think you could provide some helpful info for every class
may i add one tip... use a bipod and find a rock that is nearly below eye level of your character... when you snipe you don't have to worry about breathing thus minimising movement from your fingers and focus on the enemy to peek or to prone and glint, or to stand and hold their breathe trying to shoot you. You have the upper hand of taking position first and zeroing in to your target.
On a 2K 27" monitor, I can hit targets beyond 1km pretty consistently using a medium scope. Also remember to add a canted sight to help you in case the enemy is too close, a no zoom sniper at long range might give you higher chance at close range than switching to a pistol imo.
This is a personal preference thing, but I use the marksman riffle on my engineer for these set of reasons: 1. I sit back far from the frontline enough to out gun rifles & SMGs, but not so far for myself to be out gunned by snipers. 2. You can use the marksman riffle as an unusual deadly hybrid of the binoculars & a gun for spotting & rangefind, which is great for long range tank killing & spotting for myself & teammates. 3. As I am not an aggressive front line player in this class & gun, I become a long range & semiautomatic equivalent of the M249 saw, I can reliably suppress enemies behind cover, but the ones daft enough to run out will get sawed down by semi automatic fire. 4. It is a reliable way to cut down more middling bolt action snipers. As between their first missed shot to the second follow up, I can put out 4-5 bullets, & they do not move around to safely reposition themselves. Now this is a niche style of play for myself, as other engineers prefer a more close up & personal style, & also this is not the recon classs dedicated to just sniping & superior quality spotting. These are my thoughts.
Thats exactly how I use DMRs as well as engineer. I think of myself more as a hard point specialist specifically targeting snipers or machinegun nests (with RPG) the DMR allows you to engage at those distances though without much hassle.
After 2.2.2 patch, medium scopes now have scope glint but only on snipers (DMRs and any other weapon not affected), but only on 200 meters-800 meters, instead of at all ranges like long scopes However the scope glint on all weapons have been reduced so that they no longer show through concealment like bushes and trees, and only visible on a very narrow angle to where you're aiming (like maybe less than 1 degree), instead of the previous 20 degrees. also for the Semi Auto snipers, use the M110 since it's a 2 shot kill instead of 3 shot.
The later heavy caliber pistols can compete with some primary weapons well enough to defend yourself, the deagle and the second revolver both come recommended.
I like DMRs in this game, but I see it as it was always meant to be used irl: a support role. You can locate enemies and mid/long range and if not take them out, at least it allows to supress them long enough for your team to reposition - as you said, bullets whizzing next to you means: get moving. And I can put a lot of bullets quite quickly, with some recoil prediction. In short range it sucks, and it will suck until they add bayonets xD But with a top red dot and/or canted irons you can at least keep a doorway reasonably secure for about 2 guys storming. Sadly more than that and the mag runs out before that measly damage gets the job done. So yeah, I run DMR on engi to basically support my squad in "there's an enemy that we cannot defeat with our usual weapons, deal with it" role :D
Additional tip for you tip :) 7:30 About building fortifications with holes in it. I prefer build couple covers. Because if enemy snipers spot you, they DEFFINETELY start aiming at your posiotion. If you have 2 and you switch between them - this is much safer IMHO
I use semi-auto rifle to being an anti-sniper scout instead pure sniper. The drone equipment is useful to find enemy sniper but it is exclusive to squad leader and scout class. So, when enemy sniper is better and our sniper is loosing, I send out drone to locate enemy, sneak up to them, and get advantage from semi-auto types against them in short-medium range.
I’ve done pretty decent with m110 semi auto. I just set the lowest first shot kick to follow up on body shots and secure the kill when I can’t hit their head.
I've been using the medium scopes for extreme ranges, with vertical grip and ranger barrel tip, rangefinder as always and just standard mag. Longest range kill was a 1537.4m headshot iirc in Sandy Sunset
You forgot ze drones! =P But seriously, thats my favorite thing to use when playing recon. I must be one of the only people who uses them for actual recon instead of always slapping mines / C4 on. But if you use your drone for spotting with nothing on it, it can actually hover for the entire match it feels like. You just hit 5 and you can right click to toggle on/off your drone view while running around, I think most ppl don't realize you can actually leave the view before the drone dies and keep using it. Also lets you ping bad guys for your team mates. I would spend all day pinging and tracking enemies if you got XP for it lol.
i'm an agressive sniper player at the beginning it's rly hard when cqc but u still can win a lot of fights when u go prone fast enough and change to secondary
I have some tips want to add. Don't use bipod cause it only gives you no sway when ads long-range scope. So you don't have to hold your breath to stable but it only when you prone and it will take a bit of time to settle in. And with medium scope it give nothing because there no sway with it. Consider putting some fake glint behind tree or building some sandbags 4 to cover it. The glint sometime can be see through tree so enemy will shoot at it and waste some time or bullets. Put it behind tree so it won't be destroyed easily but still annoy the enemy. If you have friends you can team up and shoot from a heli. You can have your friend stable up high in the sky near your spawn and do some nasty long shoot. About DMRs. I only find the M110 is the only one worth using. With barrel attachment it can 2 body shot up to 400m. The other gun need 3. People said they find M14 good but if I want o play like that I better of with Scar or Fal. With better fire rate and recoil. And above 200m the time window for you to hit the enemy is too short for landing 2 shots so better just use bolt sniper. Not accounting the velocity is not that good when using long-range.
if i can give you one tips it's: never zero your scope... it sound wierd but personaly i prefere to know my weapon, "feel" the bullet drop and learn the graduations of the scope. it make the close range targeting easier
Since you asked. If you wanna have success with a DMR, then you should always aim for the head (because that's a one shot kill). Just keep in mind that you are either to far away for a assault rifle to kill you or that you can shoot faster than a sniper that uses bolt action instead of semi auto. So basicly, you can shoot further then a assaultier and shoot faster then a sniper.
one thing i'd say is look at the map, figure out the likely flow of enemy, and then try to put yourself on the 5 or 7 o'clock positions, as 3 or 9 is the hardest shot to hit, 10 and 2 are good but they'll probably see you and will also be closing on you if you miss, and 12 or 6 are probably a death sentence. 5 or 7 Gives easy shots in the back, and who doesn't love that ? :D
ironically, staying probe behind a boulder was what got me a kill when sniping. it was just perfect to let me kill the guy shootting about 10 ft away from me while his friend did not see me due to a bush being in the way. his friend also died to a team mate running through the area.
As far as semi-auto snipers go, I basically just treat them like assault rifles with slightly longer ranges. Slap on a reflex sight and run up to the thick of it, engaging enemies at 100-200 meters
I have decent success with DMR's. Mostly just going for headshot at medium range. I tend to find myself at medium range most often so it's a faster TTK than having to bolt another round out of a bolty if you don't get the headshot
A few things: If you have a high resolution screen, you don't need to use a long range scope. I use a 2k monitor and can pick out targets beyond 1000m with a prisma just fine. When shooting from cover, check all sightlines periodically to make sure no one is looking at you. On maps like frugis with a lot of rooftops, this can help you spot enemy snipers before they see you. Try not to keep your sightlines too wide. Anything above 90° total is just asking for someone to shoot you that you didn't see. And finally, notice what the people that you're killing are doing. Running in the street, sitting still without checking for enemies, rezzing in the open, etc. Learn from their mistakes so a competent enemy doesn't do the same thing to you :)
Update 2.2.2 came out and i noticed something in the announcement: "Snipers - Medium range scopes glint will be visible between 200m 800m" So since medium range scopes have glint do you still recommend them over long range scopes?

I actually really love Lonovo on night maps. I just look for glow sticks on the armor, adjust my sights to estimate where the neck up would be and fire.
The most useful thing you can do for your team is mark enemies. If you see any enemies, particularly those near friendlies, mark them. Even when I'm not sniping, I mark an enemy as soon as I see them and then shoot.

You could change or delete the keybind for freelook, that's bound to ALT by default, if You don't like this 'weird out of scope animation'
A little sniper tip for solo players:
If you're a sniper and you don't care about your squad, then leave the squad as soon as you find a good sniper spot.
Bro I watched this and then immediately got a 1600m shot. The zeroing your scope bit is a life saver.
Just started sniping in this game after only playing Medic for 30~ hours - amazing guide, thank you so much, very well presented and detailed
- Use a canted sight to use in close combat
- any medium scope for long range
- hide somewhere, and with equal intervals, one tap the enemies. It takes some time to develop muscle memory on clicking those intervals, but once you learn it, it becomes easy to fight with DMR
- when the enemies swarm in, I use Suicide-C4, Spawn back with an AR, and clear out the area
the Isle map actually has a insane building to camp out in once you build and secure it.
You can use the build mehanic and build the large sandbag, climb on it and then snipe.
That was some solid fieldcraft right there when you educated us on silhouette, one of the 5 S's of concealment xD. Those long range shots were amazing to watch as always, thank you.
Great vid as always!
Wowow I wish I was as good as you at sniping, clean shots as always.
About time you made this video. Your the best stod. Keep up the great work.
i got a little worried when you said you were making a guide with only 80 hours sniping, but this was very good thank you
Thanks for the tips! Last night I got a 1276m headshot kill with the SSG with a medium scope, and it felt so damn satisfying! :D
It's mind-blowing how good you are at sniping. It fills me with rage and envy.
He is playing on 220+ fps tho..
@@Bullminator Framerate doesn't make my aim any less garbage.
@@Z4gle Old age or?
Its usualy depends on gun realy. I can barely aim with support weapons lol.
Thanks Stod, I've been mostly using the SCAR-H lately in BattleBit, i'll have to crack out the snipers and have a bit more of a go with them
I do want to note that even if you are not doing well, if your enemies are aware of you, you are still helping your team very well!
Thanks Stodeh, awesome video, that zero out instruction (among alot of great stuff) was great (never knew how to do that before).
for close combat, i recommend using revolvers like Unica, often 1 shot kills. infact i would say always 1shot kills, except against plated.
Love the vid. I've been doing this kind of sniping since bf2 and above.
I'd say a missed shot is worse than a shot not taken if it give your position away. I suggest use judgement and try not to get greedy with kills if it means the enemy is going to figure you out quicker "Never pounce on an advantage as soon as it appears. Wait till it stands to have maximum effect"
Now factor in opportunity costs ;)
If you end up spending too much time not being effective, you could've gone for it anyway and even if you died you would respawn and find another opportunity instead faster.
This vid had a lot of good info in it and I think you could provide some helpful info for every class
the only game where when you adjust your scope; spot your target and pull that trigger, you feel an immense sense of satisfaction
Thank you for the tips truly helped let’s gooooo
sandy sunset is awesome for sniping, nothing like hitting a 1300m headshot because you saw a glint from across the map for half a second
may i add one tip... use a bipod and find a rock that is nearly below eye level of your character... when you snipe you don't have to worry about breathing thus minimising movement from your fingers and focus on the enemy to peek or to prone and glint, or to stand and hold their breathe trying to shoot you. You have the upper hand of taking position first and zeroing in to your target.
A very nice guide :) good structure and quite lean
On a 2K 27" monitor, I can hit targets beyond 1km pretty consistently using a medium scope. Also remember to add a canted sight to help you in case the enemy is too close, a no zoom sniper at long range might give you higher chance at close range than switching to a pistol imo.
i recommend binding zeroing so you dont have to scope out/it will be just much quicker and easier to setup than with alt + scroll
This is a personal preference thing, but I use the marksman riffle on my engineer for these set of reasons:
I think of myself more as a hard point specialist specifically targeting snipers or machinegun nests (with RPG) the DMR allows you to engage at those distances though without much hassle.
can you make an updated version of this video ? its pretty neat. now the range finder dose a negative
After 2.2.2 patch, medium scopes now have scope glint but only on snipers (DMRs and any other weapon not affected), but only on 200 meters-800 meters, instead of at all ranges like long scopes
However the scope glint on all weapons have been reduced so that they no longer show through concealment like bushes and trees, and only visible on a very narrow angle to where you're aiming (like maybe less than 1 degree), instead of the previous 20 degrees.
also for the Semi Auto snipers, use the M110 since it's a 2 shot kill instead of 3 shot.
The later heavy caliber pistols can compete with some primary weapons well enough to defend yourself, the deagle and the second revolver both come recommended.
Bought this game on sale and might give it a go finally. This video will come in handy.
So yeah, I run DMR on engi to basically support my squad in "there's an enemy that we cannot defeat with our usual weapons, deal with it" role :D
dude thanks i used to keep missing and getting killed immediately whilst using sniper, now i can get alot kills and not die immediately
Additional tip for you tip :) 7:30 About building fortifications with holes in it. I prefer build couple covers. Because if enemy snipers spot you, they DEFFINETELY start aiming at your posiotion. If you have 2 and you switch between them - this is much safer IMHO
great explanation man, this gave tons of info
I use semi-auto rifle to being an anti-sniper scout instead pure sniper.
The drone equipment is useful to find enemy sniper but it is exclusive to squad leader and scout class.
So, when enemy sniper is better and our sniper is loosing, I send out drone to locate enemy, sneak up to them, and get advantage from semi-auto types against them in short-medium range.
Good tips, great video. Thx Stod
Longest range kill was a 1537.4m headshot iirc in Sandy Sunset
u can press alt while scoped in and u basically "unzoom" or move ur head away from ur scope to get a wider view
4:30 "NEVER REPEAK THE SAME ANGLE" as he repeaks the exact same spot twice to challenge XD
Just so people are aware, the tip about medium range scopes not having glint is no longer true. They have a glint once you reach a certain range.
if i can give you one tips it's: never zero your scope... it sound wierd but personaly i prefere to know my weapon, "feel" the bullet drop and learn the graduations of the scope. it make the close range targeting easier
Thanks man, this will help a lot
You’re a sniping god 🔥
Great tip
Is the ghillie camo for the M200 part of the supporter pack/patreon?
BIG HELP!! thank you!!
ironically, staying probe behind a boulder was what got me a kill when sniping. it was just perfect to let me kill the guy shootting about 10 ft away from me while his friend did not see me due to a bush being in the way. his friend also died to a team mate running through the area.
thank u for the tips and tricks, bless up
The deagle is slept on big time. Fire rate is quite high, damage is 90. Chest shots almost always kill non-medics as they usually aren’t at full 100%
So helpful! Thanks!
I was on this waki match with you and you sniped me from F while i was on C and running. It was a really nice shot
Tysm :)
As far as semi-auto snipers go, I basically just treat them like assault rifles with slightly longer ranges. Slap on a reflex sight and run up to the thick of it, engaging enemies at 100-200 meters
Definitely not a noob, but I’m glad I watch this video because I was silhouette-ing all the time 😂
C4 or the boom vest is a good alternative for close quarter encounters
the semi auto snipers are really useful when you catch loads of enemies flanking or attacking its a freaking killing spree
9:57 - use m110 with long/heavy barrel 51 dmg
2 hit kill up ~200 meters
I have decent success with DMR's. Mostly just going for headshot at medium range. I tend to find myself at medium range most often so it's a faster TTK than having to bolt another round out of a bolty if you don't get the headshot
you do these kinds of videos well
I always take c-4. Mainly because I snipe around trees and you can clear out a good bit with the click of a button
Use the revolver as your secondary so if you body someone close to you, swap to it then no scope spam and you'll most likely get the kill
A few things:
If you have a high resolution screen, you don't need to use a long range scope.
On your point about semi-autos, I actually found that using the SCAR-L more consistent and enjoyable
Edit: I meant to say using it on semi-auto
AUG has really high velocity and low recoil but not the highest dmg and shoots slow so it's dogshit in close range situations.
It's outclassed by ak15 with long/heavy barrel
Update 2.2.2 came out and i noticed something in the announcement: "Snipers - Medium range scopes glint will be visible between 200m 800m"
So since medium range scopes have glint do you still recommend them over long range scopes?
Solid guide! 👍👍
I have a setup with the Markman's rifles that does very well at range and close range. I use Mk14 EBR attachments are. (MAG quick-A) (BARREL-suppresser short) (CANTED SIGHT holo) (MAIN SIGHT ECHO) (Under barrel SE5) and then rangefinder.
I hope that they fix the server browser, which currently ignores any setting we use. That way I can select the 3 maps you mentioned. Doing 32 vs 32 for my MP7 and M4.... in the meantime.
I actually really love Lonovo on night maps. I just look for glow sticks on the armor, adjust my sights to estimate where the neck up would be and fire.
very good guide man, i didn't know that u can shoot people on any part of there body and they will still die if they above 900m away!
The most useful thing you can do for your team is mark enemies. If you see any enemies, particularly those near friendlies, mark them. Even when I'm not sniping, I mark an enemy as soon as I see them and then shoot.
Most usefull thing is to shot down any heli before it gets close :D
But people just ignore them...
