Awesome! Glad you got it. The manual really leaves a lot to be desired. Even leaving whole parts out! Thanks for the shoutout - I have a couple nice folks who have come over to say hi already.
I really think you should "modify" the CTS V body if you want something more "drifty"... I just think there is something incredibly cool about seeing the Cadillac get very sideways.
I'm a AE fan from the gold pan days - a true golden oldie. I am building an RC10DS and the manual is horrible - i.e. errors, omissions, etc. The person(s) at AE responsible for assembly documents needs to be shown the door.
The numbers are the part numbers for replacing parts you may need later. As for the battery spacer they don't know the size of battery your using so you have to choose the right one for you.
Now, this is how you make a drift car! 👍 Looking for an RTR? Remove the bling, include plastic shocks, add some RTR electronics and BOOM, entry level drift car with tons of potential (Traxxas take note)! I'm sure you'll see an RTR from AE. As for the manual, been an AE guy for over 30 years and they really haven't kept up with the times. No excuse, the manuals REALLY need updating!
So happy to see THREE offerings from US companies in the drift market! Its finally catching on! Im finishing my sakura D5 kit from 3 years ago lol (yes its ironic we are days from the D6 now 😅 ) and my son is looking at what chassis to pick up... team DOLLAR MENU coming at ya sideways!!!!
I mainly crawl, much like yourself. Drifting is my next adventure 100% They just look so cool. I wish there was a drift track near me though. I'll have to figure out where to run it.
Great video man. Really love seeing what your doing in the drift world of rc. I love it, but we don't have a place to do it. Atleast where I live. Eighty8 rc hobby in Surrey bc (owned by a friend of mine) is the place to go. But that's a 90 min plus 2 hours bus ride for me hahaha. They always use swiffers with a go pro mounted to it. Pretty simple and effective. Car looks great. Who says a ctsv can't drift. If your into watching full size drifting. Iv been following an awesome channel called "Drift Games". Irish folks keeping cars sideways. 😎
Oh my god😂 Boss man I could not agree with you more! I Literally work at a hobby shop with a racetrack, So I would say i'm fairly proficient when it comes to building a chassis and that manual was garbage'
So far all the kits I have built from Associated have had issues in their manuals. Some more than others but lately with the re-releases they have been full of issues. It is like they made the manual but never tried to build the car with it!!
That manual was disappointing. There should be corresponding MM measurement for what battery spacer to use to fit a certain size pack. IE; 2s stick pack, shorty or saddle etc Same with the pin blocks. Usually they indicate how they will effect the alignment. Seems like a crazy oversight for a "comp" level kit
Team Associated definitely failed at writing the manual. Now, when it comes to the car, they pretty much knocked it out the park. I wouldn't expect anything less from a company that has been around 60 years.
No, actually, it doesn't, as they're not competing in the same category. Traxxas' car is designed as an entry level car, giving people a taste of what drift is all about, at a much cheaper point of entry that will work both indoors and out, right from the box. The Associated car is competition-ready, and a kit, and will cost nearly triple what the Traxxas car does to get it built.
A heads up - 299 is not your out the door price. You still have to supply a lot of parts (Matt mentions these in the video) so this kits price isn’t comparable to the Ready To Run offerings from Traxxas, MST, etc. I’m a fellow drift noob. This kit looks amazing!…but I’m going to start with one of the less expensive RTR’s first, and see if I drift as much as I crawl.
Buying an RTR only saves you money if you think you are gonna hate the hobby and quit. Buying a bad and cheap RTR that doesn't perform the way you hoped it would could be a reason why you quit the hobby.
Trying to put together a kit and failing miserably is why some might quit. Don’t hate on RTR cause they aren’t for you. There are many aspects of this hobby.
@@scalebuildersguild YESSSS,SIR!!! You‘re sooo right! Me? I‘m such a guy(idiot?🤔) with 2 left hands ! Put a set of other shocks in a this RC … or other tires on that RC… or a HW - Combo in the next… Trying things and having fun…That’s all i can do… But… it‘s o.k. I wish you and your family all the best! 👍👍👍😎
I appreciate the shoutout! Thank you! I’m excited to try out the DC10! 🤙
Found Scale Science because of your vids, building my DC10 now and can’t wait to run there.
@@jevans84 that’s awesome man!

That's great to hear!
That body looks great! No need to swap it
Looks like Associated did their homework on this one. Kudos Y’all!
Roadside is a local to me, good dude!
Troy is great!
I really think you should "modify" the CTS V body if you want something more "drifty"... I just think there is something incredibly cool about seeing the Cadillac get very sideways.
That would be cool!

Good video and overview of the platform!
I have one but haven’t had a chance to get it out on track yet… Seems like it has lots of potential though!
I hope you like it!

The differential diagram is the biggest mistake! Completely omitting the 2 large bevel gears
The numbers are the part numbers for replacing parts you may need later. As for the battery spacer they don't know the size of battery your using so you have to choose the right one for you.
Only one set of spacers fits. Has nothing to do with battery size.

Man i love that you love drift. Always wondered how great it would be to see you try it, and man you are THRIVING!!! CHUFFED!!!
Thank you! It takes some practice, that's for sure, but I really enjoy it!

Jokes on you I'm trying to finish up my D3... And jokes on me no one makes a 10.5" wheelbase body anymore
Great video, always make one change at a time. Take notes, I forget what I changed 3' from the bench...
Excellent review. Love your channel 😊
Thank you!
I'm not much for the caddy body but those wheels are great, they look like te-37's 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘
Thanks! You too! Hope you had a great long weekend! 🤘
I'm gonna build a reve d after seeing many reviews
Reve'D is a great kit as well! Can't go wrong with it, however, it's adjustability is lacking, provided we're talking about the RDX.
Nice video and that’s some nice driving too👍🏼
Thank you!
Whoever followed the manual im building the differential will have a csr that doesnt move! They completely ommited the 2 bevel gears in the diagram
I mainly crawl, much like yourself. Drifting is my next adventure 100% They just look so cool. I wish there was a drift track near me though. I'll have to figure out where to run it.
I guarantee you that you will like drifting,it's technical just like crawling, lots to tinker and try out
Maybe a really smooth parking lot?

Exactly!!

Hey! Nice greddy shirt!
Ideas for this years sticker sets? More drifty stuff yes???
first one here... and I love the caddy body

Usually TeamAssociated manuals have a page that folds out and shows all the 1:1 parts. Did they get rid of that? 🤔
Yes, but this was laughably useless for any of the plastic parts. It shows sizes for bearings and hardware.
Nice❤
JUST DRIFT IT...
That manual was disappointing.

Great video. Appreciate the slow-mo and realtime footages back to back.
So when you say "a much more drift inspired body..." does that mean you'll be running a 1980's Chevy Citation hatchback?
Ha!
If people are gonna mount the motor like that why don't they mount the battery on it's edge so it sits more rearward and higher up?
I think there’s a limit to how much weight people want where.
If it makes you feel any better, us drifters do think the CTS-V is cool
Smells good in here 👃
Team Associated definitely failed at writing the manual. Now, when it comes to the car, they pretty much knocked it out the park. I wouldn't expect anything less from a company that has been around 60 years.
its a shame they couldn't have gotten the motor any higher
They include 6mm spacers and a +6mm waterfall for the transmission to be raised.
Who gets paid more the wife(actor) or the driver 🤔
First 🤘🏻

Why is a caddy so popular in drift??
I think it's an affordable body option
I have no idea!
This takes a hot steaming doodoo on traxxas attempt!!!
No, actually, it doesn't, as they're not competing in the same category. Traxxas' car is designed as an entry level car, giving people a taste of what drift is all about, at a much cheaper point of entry that will work both indoors and out, right from the box. I think you already have the perfect body on it. Looks great. Just trim those posts.
Posts.... * shivers *
Why do you think I didn't trim the posts?! This body won't be on for much longer.
You misunderstand me. I think that CTS body is banging. And it works surprisingly well on a drift car.
with that body it looks like it has machine guns sticking up throught the hood 😅
Where's the leaf springs? This looks fun unfortunately for me I live in the twilight zone of hobby fun stuff to do.
That’s a bummer, have you considered moving? 😂
Personally I don’t feel £299.00 is expensive I’m interested and a complete noob
A heads up - 299 is not your out the door price. You still have to supply a lot of parts (Matt mentions these in the video) so this kits price isn’t comparable to the Ready To Run offerings from Traxxas, MST, etc.

This is going subrscriber-only pretty soon. Sad to see it.
The number of videos you're getting for free hasn't changed, nor will it. Members get bonus content.
Buying an RTR only saves you money if you think you are gonna hate the hobby and quit. Buying a bad and cheap RTR that doesn't perform the way you hoped it would could be a reason why you quit the hobby.
Yeah but investing piles of money and time into a kit that you never actually complete or have it perform at all would be even worse
It's for people who want to use it instantly and not build it.
Some people just want to drive and don't have the patience or skills to build. Different strokes for different folks!
Trying to put together a kit and failing miserably is why some might quit. Don’t hate on RTR cause they aren’t for you. There are many aspects of this hobby.
