nozoto's here. This is my main YT account.
This track is my favourite one with "under the moonlight", I suppose you gonna upload everything later. OST of this beat "em up is stunning, it's nice to see one taking care of it.

I wish I could find out more about the "alternate" version of this game's soundtrack. There was apparently a version of the game released somewhere (I want to say it was a Korean version) with the soundtrack consisting of the original songs played at a much higher BPM through the arcade hardware. It sounded surprisingly awesome.

In my humble opinion, an anime OVA or movie adaptation to Night Slashers directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri (the Ninja Scroll director) and animated by Madhouse would have been awesome. Kawajiri-san would probably push the gore factor higher than the video game ever could.

I remember searching for this game on the Internet years before it was emulated and learned that an actual soundtrack to this game was released, but only for Japan. I bet it costs a fortune.

Somebody needs to make a Night Slashers 2, even if on OpenBOR or something.

Actually it was made Night Slashers X for OpenBoR which is remake of original Night Slashers game with few differences. But most files found on internet have broken script which causes game crash but I found solution for this problem (I modifying OpenBoR mods). Maybe I will upload improved version.

I just checked out the recently released US version via MAME and you were right. All that is needed to do is set the violence to "Hard" (which is the default setting) in the Game Options of the service mode.

@figment1988: Actually, the American version (also known as the overseas version on MAME) was just as gory, but it had to be set to it in the game's option screen.

@Loader2K1 i think so. I do remember the Japanese version being much gore-filled, not to mention the "Go" sign switching into "To Hell"

Yamaha 2151 handles all the synthesized instruments and the OKI is used for all the sound effects, voices, drums and other instrument samples. You'll find that this combination is very common in arcade games seeing as YM2151 did not have PCM wave playback.

In this field better was Yamaha YM2610 used in Neo-Geo and Taito-Z. This chip has seven ADPCM voices along with four operator per channel FM and SSG (square wave sound generator) channels.

Sure, the YM2151 is an FM chip used in synthesizers and keyboards. Above I stated that this chip couldn't playback PCM but like all technological advancements, everything is a stepping stone that leads to more hardware landmarks or points of reference. It's been used in games as early as 1984 and due to familiarity and cheapness was used even till the mid 90s. Good sounding FM patches (instrument presets) required talented programmers. Now everything is just straight up raw uncompressed audio. As you can see (or hear) it's much easier to nail realism now that we can just record everything and use it as is.

Does this game use the HuC6280 wavetables in its tracks?
I'd like to watch the YM2151 and the HuC6280 rocking together!
