I think it makes sense that they have got a two series plan and these unanswered questions about Ruby will come up as she is still to reappear. Also I feel like people seem very quick to judge the episode because it doesn't live up to their over theorising. I'm not sure what else you could do with Sutekh when he just wanted to bring death and destruction and stand amongst it.

Loved listening to these episode reviews. I am a huge fan of RTD's original series as showrunner, but gotta say, what happened between then and now for us to get THIS as his first series back? It wasn't a complete disaster like Jodie's season (gave up after season 1 and I never give up on shows that quick), but honestly, I don't think I'll be re-watching this one. It's a shame b/c the new Doctor could be a great doctor and had moments where I was like, that's what I want to see and I loved the character of Ruby Sunday, but they gave her so little to do and her backstory was wrapped up in such an underwhelming way. There were too many Doctor-lite episodes and we never SAW Ruby and the Doctor build their relationship, so even that didn't land well for me. Yay for new DW, but this season was not what I expected. And I wonder, too, would this catch the attention of someone who HADN'T watched DW enough to watch a season 2? I don't think so.

My mother and nephew absolutely loved the season and I definitely think the fact we have all of this production knowledge and 'hype' from the DW crew because they honestly think Ruby has actually left and enjoyed the episode.
My problem with this season is that RTD felt thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread and the ending episodes suffered and I am glad that they have confirmed more writers he should have a maximum of 3 to open and close because I don't think a single showrunner would be able to let someone else do them.

I believe the lack of belief in the doctor and ruby's relationship is 100% to do with no tardis scenes as they are put straight in danger and split up. Having like a couple mins every episode of them in their would have totalled to like 15-20 mins in the season which would have made a huge difference. Most of the time we see the doctor and companion in previous series, actually bond, its in the tardis and I think that was what was missed.

I think Ruby’s dad is going to be something alien next season

I thuroughly enjoyed this episode. Its a lot better than the chibnall era and a good return to doctor who seasonal form

Season 2 and season 4 finales were clunky, but there was like one aspect of those finales that doesn’t make any sense and then everything else is good. This finale had layers of disappointment
