17:25 I live in San Antonio, but am from Houston, but many, many, MANY years ago I lived two blocks north of Steeles and was in 9th grade at Thornlea Secondary School just south of here on Bayview. This was long before the 407 even existed.
As someone living in Texas, I'll say that Toronto's freeways are some of the most awe-inspiring freeways I've seen outside of my state. Ontario probably has the best freeways in Canada, with their network of high-quality 400-series highways. While Québec has its autoroute system, I'll add that they seem to be built to a lower standard than freeways in Ontario and Alberta. Speaking of Alberta, the newer freeways around Calgary and Edmonton, while lacking the lane counts of a highway like the 401, are generally built to very high standards (caveat: I've seen videos of pavement issues on parts of Stoney Trail), with a lot of merging space. Alberta also does a great job of reserving large amounts of right-of-way, so if they ever needed a 401-style freeway, they could easily expand. Stoney Trail/Tsuut'ina Trail in southwest Calgary has a wide central median that could potentially accommodate express lanes in the future. Some of this is because Alberta cities are newer than eastern Canadian cities like Toronto and Montréal; the expanding sprawl around Calgary and Edmonton started much later. Not to mention, Alberta has a lot of money, and they do a good job of investing it in their infrastructure; they have the highest per-capita GDP of any Canadian province, as well as the highest Human Development Index (HDI) of any sub-national territory in North America (that is, among both Canadian provinces and US states) in 2021.
I don't know why the 407 isn't a 110 limit as other low-risk 400 series highways have 110 limits. I think the 407 is comparable to the other freeways in Ontario with 110 limits.
It's really cool to see another Toronto video, as well with the return of Rock music aswell, perfect for a Toronto video. I'm glad that you reused a track from your video of Hwy 401 between Windsor & Cambridge (Shipwreck, from USS), I also like the fact that you also chose the track ''Hungry Like The Wolf'' by Duran Duran, a famous track from the 1980s. In my opinion, due to the heavy traffic on Hwy 9 between Orangeville & Hwy 400, it should definitely be widened to a 4 lane hwy, like its estern portion of Hwy 400 in Newmarket. I also have some pretty sad news, but Karl Tremblay, the singer from the famous Quebec band Les Cowboys Fringants died from Prostate cancer at only 47 years old! He was way too young to die at this age, especially that he had several more years to live for! He had this disease since early 2020, but announced it it only 2 years & half later. The Quebec right now is on national mourning. the city of L'Assomption for example renamed their public place ''Place Karl Tremblay''. I exept that in the upcoming days several other places will be renamed in his honor. I sincerly hope it will. Who knows, maybe a skrecth of a highway in Quebec will be renamed in his honor as well.
Great soundtrack to top off your drive, I've only had limited time to drive on the grid roads outside of the urban GTA, it really puts it to scale how big the region is compared to where I'm from. I had a question in terms of cameras and etc. Currently I've been using a GoPro 8 but I've been seeking to upgrade to an AX-43A in the coming months to provide more crisp footage next year and to provide quality on-par with other creators, but I am aware that I will have to re-organize my workflow etc. Do you have any thoughts and tips when it comes to using the Sony camcorders? And if you would be aware of Sony ever having sales on the equipment?
Thanks for the comment. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably look to the used market to buy either a used AX-53 or an AX-43 over buying a brand new camera. I'm not sure what the difference is between the AX-43 and the 43A is, but it's probably something minor like resolution of the screen or something. Sony does put their equipment on sale from time to time, but in general they tend to discount older models, not their latest and greatest equipment Keep in mind that there is some logistical challenges between using a larger camcorder like the AX series vs a smaller camera like a gopro. Windshield mounts are challenging for larger cameras as it's harder to get them to balance correctly without having them wobble on the mount. But good luck with whatever you choose to buy. And I agree. The scale of the GTA is significant. There aren't many other areas of Canada where there is quite the same concentration of population.
@@AsphaltPlanet1 Thanks! I almost just bought an AX43A, but I will wait until closer to the spring in terms of actually going through with the purchase. Hopefully the market stays good in the future
Great vid, loved the soundtrack for this one! Thanks for introducing me to some great tunes

Highway 24 from Highway 5 to Cambridge is also busy and needs 4 lanes

First and a great drive! Have you ever driven the Ohio Turnpike?
Yes I have. I have driven pretty much all of the Ohio Turnpike
i live in toronto
You might consider recording digitally as opposed to recording on film. It is much cheaper and easier for editing.
Filmed = recorded. This is recorded digitally
