Stevland Hardaway Morris (né Judkins; May 13, 1950), known professionally as Stevie Wonder, is an American singer-songwriter. He is credited as a pioneer and influence by musicians across a range of genres that include rhythm and blues, pop, soul, gospel, funk, and jazz. A virtual one-man band, Wonder's use of synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments during the 1970s reshaped the conventions of R&B. He also helped drive such genres into the album era, crafting his LPs as cohesive and consistent, in addition to socially conscious statements with complex compositions. Blind since shortly after his birth, Wonder was a child prodigy who signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11, where he was given the professional name Little Stevie Wonder. Wonder's single "Fingertips" was a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963, at the age of 13, making him the youngest artist ever to top the chart. Wonder's critical success was at its peak in the 1970s. His "classic period" began in 1972 with the releases of Music of My Mind and Talking Book, the latter featuring "Superstition", which is one of the most distinctive and famous examples of the sound of the Hohner Clavinet keyboard. His works Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingness' First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) all won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making him the tied-record holder for the most Album of the Year wins, with three. He is also the only artist to have won the award with three consecutive album releases. Wonder began his "commercial period" in the 1980s; he achieved his biggest hits and highest level of fame, had increased album sales, charity participation, high-profile collaborations (including Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson), political impact, and television appearances. Wonder has continued to remain active in music and political causes. Wonder is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with sales of over 100 million records worldwide. He has won 25 Grammy Awards (the most by a solo artist) and one Academy Award (Best Original Song, for the 1984 film The Woman in Red). Wonder has been inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is also noted for his work as an activist for political causes, including his 1980 campaign to make Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a federal holiday in the U.S. In 2009, he was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace, and in 2014, he was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I was 9 years old jamming to this when it came out. I kinda understood what he was singing about but it didn't matter to me. This song is catchy as hell
I don’t know if it’s because of his blindness, but I feel Stevie Wonder is so underrated even though he has had a successful career spanning several decades. This guy is multitalented. He is a great harmonica player too. He did harmonica backup in “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues”, “I Feel For You”, and “That’s What Friends Are For”
That shows what you know about music!!🙄🤣🤣 Ask just about ANY artist over 30 who their influence is and I guarantee Stevie Wonder name comes up and that's even for Rock and Roll artist?!🙄
Stevie also did the harmonica solos for the following to name a few: "They're Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)" by The Eurhythmics "Will You Marry Me?" by Paula Abdul "Love Me In A Special Way" by DeBarge "Where You Are" by El DeBarge "I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan "Brand New Day" by Sting
Retro... it kind of reminds me lyrically of "you aint seen nothing yet", (Chairman of the Board)? for the shuddering bbbbbbbaby, vocals. roy orbison also did a "shuddering vocal" thang.
I'm Arthur Bhutic! I remember this in March 1985 when I was 9 living in Rocky Bottom, South Carolina! Less than 5 years after I moved to Houston where I live now!
The second Stevie Wonder song I got the know and like. I remember hearing “I Just Called To Say I Love You” on the radio all the time during 1984 and 1985. Then in 1986, my parents bought “Part Time Lover” on 45.

I too love this song very much. Listeneing for past more than 30 years. Still there is the same liveliness of Steve's voice and musical rhythm . Great gift to us .
Born in 01’ grew up listening to 60’s-80’s thanks to parents & grandparents. I am definitely an old soul at heart. I love this song dearly!
KIDS WONT KNOW NOW A DAYS THAT LUTHER VANDROSS IS IN THE BACKGROUND VOCALS SPITTING GOLD WITH THE ADLIBS!😍😍😍😍😍

This takes me back to elementary school
Loved this song when it came out back when I was 7 but now I'm old enough to know what those lyrics mean and stevie was talking about some real creeping on this song.😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣facts the 80’s was wild yo 🤦🏾♂️🤣
@Stevie Wonder Official Sir we all love you.
this song is so underrated!!!!
Um passaporte aos bons e velhos tempos, simplesmente sensacional!!!!!
Was 9 years old, watching MTV, learning English when this song came out.. the best music and greatest Singer, write etc
Symbol of 80s great music.absloutly bring me back to golden memories.
Los 80 es la epoca mas grandiosa de la vida el amor prohibido es el mejor
I'm a 80's baby and this song drove me nuts in a good way 😁
I was 9 years old jamming to this when it came out. I kinda understood what he was singing about but it didn't matter to me. This song is catchy as hell
Such LUCKY bastards -- who got to dance to a piece from a real "Master Artist" ...in the Original !!
Proper song of the times -- even TODAY 👌👌👍
Still listening in 2023 ❤
This song is so smooth😎
I love how he is always smiling. You don't realize how much a smile says about someone until you really notice a person who smiles a lot.
This song is sooooo good, i mean what??1000 years later and i am so hooked.. came out even before i was born but here we are... a GEM 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
80’s baby here. Woke up with tune in my head. I’m glad I grew up in musically diverse home 🙌🏾💯
Happy birthday Stevie Wonder
I don’t know if it’s because of his blindness, but I feel Stevie Wonder is so underrated even though he has had a successful career spanning several decades. This guy is multitalented. He is a great harmonica player too. He did harmonica backup in “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues”, “I Feel For You”, and “That’s What Friends Are For”
That shows what you know about music!!🙄🤣🤣 Ask just about ANY artist over 30 who their influence is and I guarantee Stevie Wonder name comes up and that's even for Rock and Roll artist?!🙄
Stevie also did the harmonica solos for the following to name a few:
"They're Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)" by The Eurhythmics
"Will You Marry Me?" by Paula Abdul
"Love Me In A Special Way" by DeBarge
"Where You Are" by El DeBarge
"I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan
"Brand New Day" by Sting
He is NOT underrated. He has won multiple awards and has been an influence for many artists.
I love 80s I love Stevie Wonder 💖💖💖
Great artist, great song. The 80s are the golden era of music, miss this year's
Les années 80 c'est le Top
This song never get old..
G.O.A.T. This song is perfection!
Oh saudades!Anos 80, época mágica.Curti demais, pena que já passou...😢😢😢
Beautiful, indelible memories with this song in the 1980s. At that time, I was a young child who was fond of Stevie Wonder’s songs❤️
Eso si es música no lo de hoy
This is one of those songs no one else can sing
I can sing it well
Retro... it kind of reminds me lyrically of "you aint seen nothing yet", (Chairman of the Board)? for the shuddering bbbbbbbaby, vocals. roy orbison also did a "shuddering vocal" thang.
Hermosa canción que no pasa de moda 🥰❤️
that song is beatiful and so precious
I'm Arthur Bhutic! I remember this in March 1985 when I was 9 living in Rocky Bottom, South Carolina! Less than 5 years after I moved to Houston where I live now!
The second Stevie Wonder song I got the know and like. I remember hearing “I Just Called To Say I Love You” on the radio all the time during 1984 and 1985. Then in 1986, my parents bought “Part Time Lover” on 45.
