I was deeply inspired by the lyrics of this song, seemed to be quite a few so not sure how accurate mine are.
Story is simple, The Irish seaweed is a rich man. The stately seaweed is a poor man who wants to marry his daughter. Eventually they run away together.
There is another darker version where the poor man kidnaps the daughter, and the mother and her are the ones singing the song. They are judging the wooing men who want her hand.
